How to launch Rising World on Linux Mint 19

  • After having downloaded Rising World to my computer, on which I use Linux Mint 19, I couldn't open the game as it first needed to download updates (as usual), but then stopped downloading any updates and suddenly showed up an error-window saying "Some gamefiles are missing. Please update." The only option I've got is to click "OK" in that case. But whenever I click "OK", it does nothing, but closes the Rising World launcher window. Even deleting Rising World, downloading it again and trying it from the beginning didn't help.

  • It looks like you're using the standalone version? When does the download stop exactly? Does it happen when downloading a specific file?

Does the game have full permission to create new files in its own folder (and subfolders)?

  • Yes I'm using the standalone version (haven't connected it with steam). Whenever I open the launcher now and click on start, it doesn't even start downloading updates. It just gives the error message instead of opening the game and closes itself as soon as I click on "OK".

There might be a general problem with downloading/installing specific programs on Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon as I also couldn't download/install the JDownloader nor Minecraft.

Steam also didn't work out first. But then I found 4 orders in a Linux Forum, which I copied in the Guake Terminal. After I did that, there were no more problems installing Steam.
    Those were:

    mv ~/.steam/steam/* ~/.local/share/Steam/
    rmdir ~/.steam/steam
    ln -s ../.local/share/Steam ~/.steam/steam
    rm -rf ~/.steam/bin

Would something like that also be possible for Rising World?
