Welcome Thorfinn, glad you count yourself a part of the community! That's quite the history you have. I haven't played games quite as long as you have, but I only considered myself a serious gamer until a few years ago. I'm an Ohioan in my mid-twenties, and I generally play survival and crafting/creative-based games. It's cool you've stuck with that name for so long. It certainly suits your adventurous and extensive gaming history  .

I've had this game nearly two years now, and it's probably the game I've played the most on any platform. I've been an admin on a handful of servers, and the server I currently work on is Effendor. Feel free to visit! We use area protection to prevent theft and property destruction, so if you ever need time away from the server/game your stuff will remain. Most servers I know use area protection, at any rate, so you'd be okay on just about any server. This is indeed a great game, so hopefully I will make your acquaintance sometime! :D

The weather does appear to move opposite the expected west-to-east direction, and it certainly would make sense to observe clouds moving and forming as we would expect on earth. Yet, I think the weather experienced in Rising World ought to reflect less of a favorable trend as you mention and more of a response system to whichever biome you happen to reside, which is essentially what the game features already.

The system in place more or less mirrors weather patterns one could expect in those different biomes since I have yet to see any rain in the desert or to make snow-angels on a snowy tropical beach (although I suppose I could make one in the sand  ), but I won't deny it would be neat to customize one's local climate to come up with tolerable conditions if the game ever takes on an even more in-depth survival tone and affect a player's health through the weather (I would be surprised if Red is not already planning something like this, though). To be truthful, I wouldn't mind having a random-weather generator for the game. I'm speaking of a single-player feature, mostly for the surreal worldtype, as I'm sure it would probably interfere with most players' projects in multiplayer servers, but who knows?

Change "/fill with" to just "/fill", it's much cleaner and more intuitive. Add a command for clearing like "/clear" with the variables "block, veg, all, ter" where Block = all blocks of any kind, veg = all vegetation, all = everything, ter= terrain items like dirt, stone, water, etc. The idea of /fill with 0 works but isn't nearly as intuitive and it doesn't give you the ability to get rid of the vegetation by itself. Also, I'd have the selection deselect itself after successfully doing a command such as place or clear or whatever.

I noticed the same things Furbal has mentioned. At first I was confused when the selection did not vanish after inputting a command. Plus I've been working on clearing out an area for a large build, and the /fill with 0 works, but it also removes parts of the landscape when I go to remove trees and other vegetation. The old /we clear veg was a great thing to have. I understand that you probably are going to re-add those features, but I just wanted to point them out. Otherwise, I love the work you do.

Rising World Discord is still going strong! It's awesome to see how many people have joined, despite the lack of sharing on my part. I'm assuming word of mouth took over at some point. ;)

I've not been on since I joined. I apologize, but I recently purchased a new microphone. It is on the way and will hopefully arrive around the middle of this coming week.

LOL... speaking of good bear chases... first day playing, solo, first world created, never played didn't know much of what to expect... and seed dropped me on hillside forest next to a bear..... scared crud out of me and killed me... so, respawn and ran like mad till managed to get up on top of a rock it couldn't reach me. Loved that true Survival mode there.... 8o

That's hardcore xD. Good use of terrain to avoid it. Once you have the resources, craft a battleaxe or a morning-star to take bears out more effectively.

As far as I know, no, blocks cannot be resized. In fact, they are a kind of 'unit measure' for anything else. Developers have repeated that the building system is being reworked and will be the topic of a future update; there have been suspects that this update will allow bocks to be resized, but so far nothing is certain.

Okay, thanks for clarifying! It makes sense to have some rule of thumb measurement, but at the same time it'd be great to create an even greater array of building options.

I'm already building my property to fit the update introducing fish. I love the idea of having nets/cages, but I'll admit I've gone a bit crazy and made a few large pens surrounding parts of my lake to corral fish into areas for fishing and for security. I know that perhaps a handful of predators will be introduced, so I really hope one of them will be a shark (fingers-crossed) :D .

Thanks for posting this! Do you know if there are ways of resizing blocks? I understand that block dimension is uniform across all block types and that block size can be mimicked using altered dimensions of beams, and even planks to an extent, but I wasn't sure if there are similar console commands for blocks.

It would probably be better to come up with a command to wipe player data. I did send the gtx management a message about the situation, and hopefully I hear from them in the next day or two. I told them I just need Jon's data wiped so that he can attempt to log on without worrying about possible corrupt player data. I'm not sure if they could do that themselves, but I did ask if they could do that for me. Who knows, they might accept it. Still, I don't want to step on any toes. I'd rather use an in-game command to do it rather than mess with the owner's server controls.

Are you referring to a database in the RW local files or the game hosting service that I can access? If it is the latter, I do not have access to the world database. I've looked through all the tabs for the world file, and I have not found them. (I'm pretty sure it is accessible only by the server owner.)

It would be easier to delete his character with a command, to be honest. The only other option would be to get the owner to delete his info, but the owner is never online anymore. I can't find anyone who can contact them as well. I sent the owner a new message anyway. In the meantime, I'll continue looking for options and taking suggestions, but I can't do much server-side.

I do technically have access to server controls, but I'm not sure I can access playerdata from it. The server is rented through gtx gaming, and another admin is letting me use their account to conduct daily restarts, including updates.

You can also teleport to each other if you ever need to: open the console (press the ~ button), and type goto <name of player>. It might be cheating :whistling: , and technically less intense if a bear is not chasing you =O (I love a good bear grylls moment myself), but it saves time... and hair torn from your scalp out of anxiety. :D

Glad you like the game! I tried getting into Wurm, but it was definitely more layered than I anticipated. I played with a couple of friends, but even then I found mastering it required far more tedium than the average survival game. It is a good game, but it's not a game for me. I enjoy the peace of mind Rising World lends when I'm working on a project. I know a lot of other players enjoy this as well.

The game could do with some more challenges, but I think the amount of building options and API potential really make up for it, especially in light of the new API update. I've got over 1,000 hours in the game just by building things, as well as administrating on servers, so I don't anticipate on putting the game down anytime soon. Hopefully I'll see you sometime on Rising Infinity.

You live on a lake island?? Me too! 8)

The game is definitely going places. Aside from the big releases, such as the biomes update and the water update, I've really enjoyed many of the smaller updates. The introduction of simple things like saloon doors, canteens and buckets, coal usefulness, and simple furniture pieces can really help me think of creative new ways to build. Those kind of things always flesh out the game in greater detail however small. I really don't pay attention to the negative reviews, even though they're relatively few in number. Sure, the updates usually come between a month to two months waiting time, but I find myself enjoying new updates between that time anyway.

I've never really worried much about the survival aspect, even though it definitely could be better. The challenge of finding food, water, and an ideal place to build are really easy. The wildlife are even easier to deal with since most of them are harmless, and even the bears and tigers can be dispatched easily with a morning-star. I understand players' disappointment for this aspect of the game, since it has been a long time we've gotten new weapons and challenges. I wouldn't mind some new weapons (and even Armour :whistling: ) to bring about a greater balance between pvp and peaceful servers. I love playing on the peaceful servers, but I've been itching to introduce exclusion zones into the server where players can stage battles between other players or where the server can fight an npc army of sorts. Yet, the dungeons update is impending, and with the API update released, I anticipate a lot of people will be introducing ways to expand the game in this direction even further.

The amount of new players joining the game is also staggering. I've experienced a burgeoning player base to cater since the API update, so I am confident the game will continue to grow even more popular as the devs introduce more content. The game may experience other occasional drops in popularity, but common experience tells me that this is the game's greatest input. Whenever things get bad, the devs put in 200% effort, and for it, they get 200% great feedback every time. Hard to beat that. :D
