Ok... nevermind... Guess the authentication server was having an issue today about same time I was trying to launch standalone version today. Tried again after doing some errands and after an initial java errors and update to launcher, it's running fine now.

Oh, sorry didn't get back to you. Must need to change my forum settings.. didn't get notification of response. No problems.. it was a temporary issue that day and wasn't down too long.

Hi @red51
... thinking maybe my problem is I originally had steam version?.... but, I uninstalled Steam version of RW and removed all leftover files. Purchased standalone version and downloaded it from RW website. Made shortcut to desktop, set compatibility to "Run as administrator" for all users, placed permission in firewall for RW and yet, nothing happens after inputting username an password in the launcher window and click login. No error messages or anything. I am running Windows 7 x64 Professional.... 8GB Ram, GTX960 gpu, i5-6600.. I had no issues on Steam version. Is there something I need to do since I use to run Steam version? Also, does it matter that I run my game from a secondary Hard Drive instead of my SSD with C:\Windows? I know it didn't matter with the steam version... I have steam and games installed on second HD. -
Hi red51,
Am looking for info on there being a fix or update to the main RW server which allows us to be authenticated when we play multiplayer. But, am not seeing / finding info for May 15th, 2017. So, I assume it must be an unscheduled event which crash server or is taken offline? Nobody I know of seems to be able to play "online" multiplayer at the moment.Edit: Was also pointed out it maybe on Steams end for this issue. At any rate, curious if anyone may know when the issue would get handled. Will just keep checking periodically to see if fixed I guess.

I have mixed feelings on ability to make gravel.... it's awesome to have new tools and abilities but, I also liked the challenge of having to forage for gravel... either way it's great. Love the nature blocks although I did get pretty good at trenching and laying in gravel hehe. It just simplifies the process. With the new tanning rack making leather... I'm drooling over what's to come maybe for making armor. Would so LOVE to hear what's coming to us next Red. And, thanks once again for you continued work on this project. We appreciate you.

I think it's confusing cuz a lot of people aren't thinking of how a compass works... we had to have class on it in military so people learn how to navigate. When you turn your body holding compass out in front of you.... the needle does not move... it is you that is moving and facing a new direction... think of needle as magnet always facing North. So, to properly know which direction you are facing takes some experimentation and maybe notes to help remember. We all know turning 90 degrees to your Right is East or Left is West or 180 degrees is South. Similarly, you can turn 45 degrees and will be NW, NE, SE, SW... so, one should just face N (red Arrow pointing to N) and make these turns making note of which arrow points to what on compass. Red arrow = N & S facing, White Arrow = E & W... the tricky part being when turning SE, SW, NE, NW, and variations thereof.

Ok, that's kind of what I was suspecting. So, I'm guessing there's no way to fix this issue. I just think it's weird that only happens once in a while and not like let's say... the whole lake area for instance... just one little spot in this case.
-
Yeah, have same issue.. I go into Steams screenshot folder and nothing there.... steam gave me option to upload when I exited game and I did that but, it didn't save on my pc.. something's up with the steam side of things I think.
-
Not sure.. it was actually done b4 Will took the claim so don't know history of it.

I would really like a block this shape.... see pic.. and a few others but, I suck at using paint.. will have to draw them out an scan into pc. But, this is like a 1/4 round block.. same size as regular block. Would also be nice to be able to rotate the half column block sideways... to be sure.. it looks like a pillar except is flat so can attach to regular block for rounded look.. hope that describes what I'm talking about.

Well.. it doesn't go away though... me and another player viewing this in his lake from up on hillside... When I move in it vanishes.. but is still there for him. So, I assume it has something to do with view & detail distance but, then why is it specific to only happening in some very few places and staying there like that even though waiting long enough for everything to load? We even tried logging out simultaneously then logging back in... still there for both of us to see.

So, now that the thread has gone off topic........ is there a way to alter the amount of ORE available in a world created? The settings for type of world to create don't seem to affect it.. except in the case of turning ORE Off. But, maybe that instance I created was a fluke or didn't explore it enough... idk.
*Edit* Just for anyone coming across this thread wondering same thing... what I learn in other threads is that "Ore Count" doesn't change the frequency of finding ore really... just changes how much ore will be in a spot... so "Low" might make to only get a few ores while "High" might mean whole stack of ore from a spot.

Ok, maybe has already been asked and I didn't see it. But, I've been curious what this anomaly is. At first, I thought was just me and maybe a settings thing. Eventually, I seen less and less of it. But, I was asked about it by another player and sure enough we both could see same thing despite having two completely different PC's in different locations. As you walk up towards these anomalies, they vanish but, can see them from afar. I zoomed (z) in on this to take screenshot. So, adding link to screenshot. Is this something we can be rid of with a tweak of a setting or is it just a game bug? Thx Red for taking time to read this.

Ok, so maybe I re-installed client in middle of patch process and it messed something up..... I have done a complete re-install of the game and seems to have fixed the issues. I do have a weird flicker issue though I hadn't noticed before.... as I move mouse, I can see beams show through from below my planks even though they should not be merged. I did free hand place boards on top of beams so no merging should of happened as might when hitting G. So, I don't know why I'd get see through board/planks flicker.
Also, I should note... I don't notice this flicker on the part I just built to test for bugs.... only on the part of house I had previously built before latest patches and updates.
-
Well, I just left cuz couldn't do what I wanted and figured it would be fixed later. I'm still running into issues though. I'm going to do a complete re-install of my client and see if it fixes it.

So, when the game breaks for multiplayer use, I like to just play in solo mode since I'm addicted to the game. So far, I've not been able to create a world to my liking. I am going for pure Survival mode. My problem is the Ore quantity. I set the options for Normal world, Forrest and Hills/Mountains Terrain, All animals, & Ore count to LOW. I don't want to turn ore OFF or how else would I craft tools if I couldn't find iron so, I turn it to low to make it difficult to find. Unfortunately, this seems to do nothing. My world spawns, I'm dropped in a nice little valley of a mountain. So, I start looking around and the mountain sides are littered with ore deposits.... it's so bad... I don't think I'd even need to go underground much.... I could get all the basics right off the side of the mountain. Am I missing something about this setting? Is it a seed number issue? I always go for a seed number starting with 2 cuz I find that there is always an ocean nearby when I do.

So, the new update seemed fine up until yesterday (1/14/2017) when a quick fix patch came out. We waited for servers to update before we could play. Then I go to cut down some more of my trees.... works fine at first.. then they won't actually fall down, I can't collect the logs. So, I exit the server and come back. The trees I chopped are gone of course so... lumber lost.. and I start chopping again... things work fine at first (first couple trees) then same thing again... trees won't actually fall down or break into rounds of wood... again I can't collect them. So, I give up trying to harvest trees for lumber... I use what I have already. Go to my cabin and proceed to use beams and boards to build. I'm laying down boards for my flooring... I have them stretched and lengthened to largest size.. I have a stack of 35 boards... I click to place 1 board... I set the next one and click.... I set the next and click.. bam... I'm out of boards.. I'm like wth? so I start looking at my floor and notice it don't look right.. almost as if I missed my mark where I wanted to set my flooring... looks like they stacked higher and higher each of the (supposed to be 3) boards.. so I smash it... doesn't seem to go away.. smash it again, again, again, again.. repeat....eventually I get down to 1 board being where it should be.... explains my stack of 35 or so boards gone all at once.. for some reason 1 click of mouse set 10+ boards down in a stack on the floor... so I basically had 3 stacks of 10+ boards beside each other... ok... give up building... go to mine.. now mining I get a little ways and then nothing is being removed and I have to relog again..... again... again.... there is something broke with this latest fix! I'm playing on the Serenity server. I don't think everyone is having this same problem and not sure why I should be. I uninstalled game, removed files, re-installed game.. didn't solve anything... I will do this again for good measure though.

LOL... speaking of good bear chases... first day playing, solo, first world created, never played didn't know much of what to expect... and seed dropped me on hillside forest next to a bear..... scared crud out of me and killed me... so, respawn and ran like mad till managed to get up on top of a rock it couldn't reach me. Loved that true Survival mode there....

Hehe.... A MineCart.... carrying crate.. that would be awesome....
