Don't worry about the disappearing thing, sometimes if you build too fast or dig too fast the chunk you are disappears but if you place one more block or something else or if you dig once next to the edge of the gap it all reappears. Relogging also makes it reappear too ofc

I had this issue of disappearing blocks again, but this time without even building, I was just walking around
Somehow its persistent and won't reappear So the city's insurance agents will contact you soon

I also forgot posting screenshots of the lightchamber. Basically I put a whole bunch of fire together to make for a really bright room

The ancient Egyptian Pharos (lighthouse) of Alexandria, one of the ancient seven worldwonders, originally built in the 3rd century BC.

I offer this building blueprint in two versions: one is the standalone lighthouse, the other is with its courtyard.
I also do warn for the immense size of the construction. The standalone Pharos is 60x76 blocks and has a total height of 194 blocks. The Pharos & Courtyard version spans 180x180 blocks with a height of 194 blocks.

Today's update... It's finished! But not without trouble... Somehow chunks of the entire building went missing in an instant...(see first pic) but after rebooting and relaunch of the game, it turned out fine. I guess it's a memory issue? That aside, I did make a screenshot because it's a unique opportunity to see the insides of the tower too

Anyway, I finished the Pharos. Total height is 194 blocks. No special rotations or mods, just plain stock building blocks. If any of you interested in the blueprint, I plan on making two: the Pharos on its own and the Pharos including the courtyard.

Today's update: I finished the outside of the second section, the octogonal tower. Total height is currently 145 blocks (96 blocks for the square base section; 49 blocks for the octogonal second section.)

As for the second section of the Pharos, it's actually not round, but octogonal. I'm using this UCLA-reconstruction as a reference.

Although this city, Aakhutra, is not a coastal city (yet?), angriff got me tempted to start building Pharos too... Although large structures indeed do not render quite well from a distance, I want to incorporate Pharos into this city. And I mean up to scale (somewhat)

The Pharos courtyard spans 180x180 blocks here. The Pharos base measures 42x42. So far, I built 78 blocks high and still the base section isn't quite ready yet. I'll keep you posted.

That's purely optical they're built with normal cube blocks.

At first I didn't want to introduce posters into this map in order not to make this map too heavy. I experimented with some simple hieroglypic decals that add only very few bytes to the map.

So far I have only introduced hieroglyphic names of the pharaohs that supposedly built the city. In the thronepalace of this city I placed a kingslist some time ago of fictional pharaohs that in this fantasy world had built this city, Aakhutra. With posters added I can now list them with their hieroglyphic names too I do know some basics of ancient Egyptian, so I did my best to be somewhat accurate (I guess).

I also introduced the city's name, Aakhutra, in hieroglyphic form into the city (on some buildings so far). Some screenshots:

Pyramids usually don't have any paintings/hiëroglyphs (except for Teti's if I'm not mistaken).
I'm not going to introduce posters in the map because it would make the file too heavy in the future

Also another update from me: I completed the new necropolis around the already finished 4th pyramid:

As previously said, I now also expanded the existing city wall up north with another 150x600 block wall extension. Gatehouses are not yet ready.

Further I also installed some of the stelae/boundary stones which now define the eastern city boundary:

With this city now doubled in size, I also updated the city map. Some areas are still blank.

Thanks I'm curious about your attempt at the Pharos. Any pictures yet?

Last couple of days I added some elements throughout the city.

On a still empty strip between the river and the first building in the city, I built this square with slightly raised terraces overviewing the river:

Next I added a small city temple sitting in a small rivercurve:

And finally I started construction on the 4th pyramid which is now the biggest of all: 100x100 blocks, 51 blocks tall. It's a solid structure, so that's around 166'000 blocks. It took me a full day and a half to build The entrance is still visible leading to a subterranean section and a two-chamber structure inside the pyramid:

I still plan a large necropolis enclosure around it, measuring 150 x 250 blocks. The layout can already be seen in several of these pictures.

The cornice as it is called is a vital part of the whole... without it, the buildings wouldn't have that "Egyptian look" They would also seem incomplete. It's purely a matter of visual balance. The same goes for the tallness of the pillars - they must be at least 8 blocks tall in order to look balanced with that cornice which almost always is exactly 2 blocks high on top of epistyles/architraves. Pillars less than 8 blocks just don't look right. They would look to be toppling over. But the taller the pillars, the more it becomes necessary to make them thicker, either by doubling them or by adding half-pillars, so-called pilasters. Here a quick screenshot I made to prove my point. The pillar on the left just isn't right:

It's all built using nothing but stock items. I don't use any special rotations for arches etc. It's all very straight forward. It only requires imagination and a lot of time Anyone can do this.
