Find a lantern in the mine.
Open context menu with middle mouse long press.
Move the mouse to extinguish.
It will not extinguish the lantern.
'F' or short middle mouse press however will extinguish it.
Context menu doesn't work on lanterns

You have to press the left mouse button to select an action in the radial menu
So when the radial menu comes up (by default by holding F or the middle mouse button), move the cursor over the according action (e.g. "Extinguish") then press the left mouse button once to turn it off/on (make sure to keep F or the middle mouse button pressed, otherwise the radial menu just closes [but this behaviour can be changed in the settings])
