Retexture terrain

I would really like a tool in creative to retexture the ground or blocks. Adding the grass texture back to dirt after reshaping would be the obvious example but I would also like to change stone to maybe granite or some other type of stone.
If this is possible I think it would be very useful for building in creative mode.

I think I know what you are saying. In minecraft, I think it was a mod...can't remember since its been a while since I touched that game.. but they had a wand tool that essentially did the same thing. While it was neat and VERY helpful when terraforming large structures and landscapes, some considered it to be a bit too much of a drawback from the game. In my opinion if you are already in creative mode with the blocks given to you, I see no big deal in its use.
