Non-Steam Client stuck at "Checking for updates..."

I am stuck at this point and cannot do anything else. I was waiting for about 20 minutes but still nothing ;/ I turned off my antivirus etc and my firewall was off too.

It was an issue related to the Standalone, only happened for fresh installations. It has been solved now
