Convert to Steam version?

I bought the standalone version of the game(couple years ago, actually) and since then I've had on and off trouble getting the launcher to cooperate with my connection. Basically, i was just wondering if there's a way I can get my standalone version converted to the Steam version, which would make it easier for me to be able to play.
