Thank you very much for all the answers and the education.!!
Well, maybe if you like that loco, you can add it in the game when trains come out haha

This still looks like a high detail model.. Can you eventually provide a link to the model file? Then I can tell you more about it^^It really depends on what you want to do exactly. For example if the loc has 100,000 triangles, that's quite a lot (I'd say it's "too much"), however, if you just want to use it in singleplayer and place 5 locs in your world and that's it, you won't have any problems at all.
One have to watch out to not exceed a certain triangle limit. Modern graphics cards can handle between 1 and 10 million triangles quite well.So If I understand correctly, the triangle limit is for the total amount of models added in the game and not per unit(each individual model added) . Earlier you mentioned that a maple tree has around 6200 something triangles.I play with viewing distance maxed out at 50,including detail distance at same.In my field of view,I can see at least 70-80 trees .Thats why I wonder how bad it could possibly be to add some of those models.Besides,I am not planning to overload chunks with tons of models in close spots but they will be spread out, several hundred blocks from each other so they wont render at the same time when all nearby chunks are loaded.

Yes.All I want to do is add some traffic lights, dumpsters, containers, fire hydrants and some trains in different sections of the city for decoration.Same thing with trees, bushes.I dont worry about chopping them down or the animation aspect of it which it won't have.

Btw,I dont know the size of the model and also dont know how is it going to look in the game.It might be huge or might be one block size kid's toy

I appreciate your response and the great explanation Red ! I just looked into a random model that happened to have a size of 10Mb. Models I care about are traffic lights, dumpsters etc with sizes between 15Kb-350Kb.If a tree is 500Kb and I can see close to 100 of them in just a few chunks, then I should be fine adding 30-90Kb models without compromising performance.Correct me If I am wrong.
Also,I only play singleplayer.I dont care about creating a server. Am I still gonna be able to add 3D models into my world?
Hopefully you answer Yes on that one.I am 36 years old and I dont wanna cry today lol.Lastly, this locomotive model below is 2Mb and now I know it wont carry textures. Its a .3ds. All I want is to add one of them into the game,of course for decorative purposes. How do I split the model into sections to add the texture in each one? This is the first time I will be doing this so I wondered which software I can use for this.

One more dumb question: lets say that the average size of a 3d model is 10Mb. Imagine adding 100 models in the game, that makes it 1Gb. Will the addition of a great amount of models drain the game performance or as long as someone has 4Tb of hard drive, its all good?

I apologize for asking some dumb questions.I dont have a lot of knowledge regarding 3d models.I am vERY excited about this though,so I want to find out how things will work.
Several free online 3d models, like trees for example, have the leaf texture and also the trunk texture. If I apply one texture, the entire piece will look green, trunk included. Enlighten me please -

Thanks for replying Red.Great information.Cannot wait.

The upcoming update is greatly expected for sure. When 3D models will be able to be added in the game, hopefully we get some "how to" tutorials.Personally,I am not a computer geek,so that will help.

Will start making closets haha!!

Thanks zfox.

I think the 3D models will have their own textures attached to them. Not sure though.Good question. Will see what others answer.

I guess underwater visibility will be increased/improved once we get underwater ruins, don't you guys think? Right now its pretty tough to see.

Fantastic work.Great progress!

Nice work btw.!

You can throw some bones in there after you find them in the dungeons.

People are born and adopt to the generation they live in.What was beautiful and unique to us is not the same for everyone. New gen kids love cellphone watches.I personally dont. When they grow up,their kids will have a chip in their brains and will be able to make a call just by thinking about it.Then, their parents will say: I used to have a cellphone watch. It was so cool. Why dont you like that? !!
Some people like antiques and history though.Thats what keeps history and art alive, increases its value and gives us the opportunity to look back and be fascinated about old builds.!!
