Make sure we can write on chests too, it can be a pain looking for something specific when you have loads of them in some of these games. Using posters to put a sign by them works does solve this issue in Rising World, however it would be nice to be able to place the sign on the actual chest rather than above it on the wall. (Same for putting posters on doors, BTW)

Curtains and doors need to be like the planks and windows are right now. And, the option to put a window inside a door would be nice.

I never liked how other sand boxes copped out of full weather cycle.
Give you a reason to hunt down raccoon dens for their winter stash of food and foraging for some wild potatoes in the snow...
The seasons just need to be long enough to make a player think a little further ahead than the tip of their sword. If you tie everything to a season scale value, you can then turn it over to the players and server admins to determine how long they want them to last.
Like how long crops take to grow, animals/trees take to become full size could then be a based on that season scale.
Larger the number, the longer the seasons and the more planning needed to survive the winter.
I know it is a long way out, but something to keep in mind as you add the pieces that will make that possible.
Totally agree with this, the seasons need to be long enough to be meaningful, not just set so you can wait out the winter without any preparations. -
When farming is implemented, I would like to see some of the animal behaviour changed so they will attempt to feed from my crops (not the carnivorous ones, obviously). This would mean I would be forced to create a decent fencing solution to protect the crops.

Not sure about servants doing actual tasks for me, but in single player I do think it would be nice when building multiple buildings in a village or town type setting for NPC characters to populate the buildings and move about in the area of them. One person for each bed built would be good.

Beyond Earth should be renamed What on Earth. Civ's developers have developed a habit of releasing their games with poor AI and gameplay, then redeeming their reputations with patches and updates. They have a mountain to climb on this one.
I was initially taken with the game, graphics are great, music atmospheric was really hooked. Until I got into it. The AI is virtually non existent, trading admin is clumsy. Seems I'm not the only one, Steam diplomatically give it "mixed" review, but if you scroll down to the detail [Steam Beyond Earth] mixed looks pretty optimistic.
I think a lot of people were expecting Beyond Earth to be Alpha Centauri 2 (Sid Meiers Alpha Centauri is my personal favourite strategy game ever) which was a factor in some of the less than favourable opinions when it finally came out. It is OK, but really not much more than another expansion for civ 5. -
I have gone into the game just trying collecting what is on my island and working out what I can make from it as I go along, rather than looking it up in some guide someone has posted online. I think once I get the hang of what to prioritise I will survive for longer. It looks as if the available resources on each island are quite limited, so there will be a need to 1. Set up a central base and ensure some of what you need is sustainable while travelling for the rest. or 2. Take what you need from your island and move on to another when it is depleted, in a more nomadic manner.
-
I also got Stranded Deep yesterday. Great game so far, although I haven't yet managed to survive past the second day.
-
The devs are aware of this bug, and presumably it is on their list of stuff to do.
-
you need to set the gametype with console command, insert "setgametype 1" to enable creative mode
I thought you could one hit things though. Like cutting down a tree and turning them into logs with one hit.
Once you have done the setgametype thing, you will be able to cut a tree down in one hit, then will need a second hit to turn it into logs. (You can also turn the stump into a log in one hit if it is in your way.)

An update to this, in case it is useful for anyone else - using the previous nvidia driver (344.75) I encountered no further crashes for a whole week. I updated the driver to a brand new one earlier today (347.25), and have so far also had no problems with this one.

I have played many hours of Space Engineers, and will more than likely get Medieval Engineers as soon as it turns up on Steam. For me, the enjoyment of those games is the Construction / Engineering aspect rather than the survival. I don't see it as a direct competitor for Rising World.
-
I am now using driver version 344.75, and have played for several hours with no crashing, however as I said before due to the intermittent nature of the problem it is not possible to say with 100% certainty that was the cause.
Anyway, thanks for the help looking into this. You have created an excellent game which I already have over 180 hours on.

I don't recall having any previous problems with the game (aside from dropped connections to MP servers occasionally). Windows Event Log shows I first had this problem 2 times on December 29th, and 9 times on 30th. Then, 5 times on January 8th, 1 on the 11th, and 4 each yesterday and today. I have also played the game on most of the days when the error hasn't occured at all.
The errorlog from the 16th is as follows...

I'm curious if it's only this game that does this to you?
Yes, it is. However, I have not played any other OpenGL games recently.
-
I use the GeForce Experience utility for keeping the driver up to date. The current one was installed on 23/12/2014 (Version 347.09) and when I checked a few minutes ago, it is stated to be up to date.
I will test an older driver version later today.
As things stand, the game is perfectly playable for me for long periods of time, so this is really more of a bug report than a help request. I will report back later today whether I have problems with an older driver, however as the crashes only happen intermittently and sometimes after playing a long time, this may not be 100% confirmation the issue has been solved.
-
Yes, but it is an old one dated December 16th, so not related to this.
-
Thanks. That was an impressively quick reply
Some further detail - the crash only occurs intermittently. I can start the game with no problems and play for several hours before it happens, or it may not happen at all. There seems not to be a constant in game activity that triggers it.
On a positive note, I can restart the game straight away, and so far have always started where I was when the crash occured with little or no progress lost, so your game saving procedure seems to handle this well.
-
