QoL: I feel like pressing ESC while in Map view should close the map instead of bringing up the menu.

So... getting close up on some grass... the grass waving in the wind animation feels very much the reported framerate. The camera movements, however, do not.
Almost every other game I have (across different engines) produces smooth camera movements both in panning and in WASD. For some reason, the pan/move in this game feels like the polling/updating Hz value for the player head camera is way too low, or something like that...

Player casts no shadow while rising a horse. So apparently the vampire addition is coming along nicely!!

Is there the ability to "paint" a natural texture on the ground in Survival mode? I'd love to make a gravel pathway through the forest, but that's kinda weird/difficult to be made out of blocks.

Things are getting occluded by the ocean.

I've just reinstalled (clean install) the latest driver – no change.
I've tried every resolution on the list, highest to lowest – they're all the same.
I've tried VSync on and off and I've tried messing with the GSync settings in the NVidia control panel (fullscreen only vs fullscreen and windowed) – no combination yields a "smooth" display.

Thanks for the report! Everything looks fine so far, so unfortunately it's hard to tell what's causing this If the previous version was working fine, it could be related to the engine version (we've updated to 2023.1 with this update).
The fps counter ingame just displays the fps value reported by Unity (and in terms of performance, there is absolutely no reason to not get better fps on such good hardware)...
However, there are a few things you could try to narrow down the issue: First try to set the Displaymode in the graphics settings to "Fullscreen Windowed" and see if this has an impact on this issue. If that doesn't help, you could try to run the game on Vulkan - to do that, add this launch option in Steam (rightclick on RW in your Steam lib -> Properties -> Launch Options at the bottom): -force-vulkan
Does the issue still persist? If it persists, I would recommend to remove that launch option again (because DX11 usually provides better performance in Unity).
Do you use multiple monitors btw?
- I've tried every display mode available. All identical in terms of performance.
- Vulkan, if anything, made it worse.
- Right now I don't have any secondary display connected.

THIS THREAD WAS MOVED FROM THE NEWS SECTION
That's weird... maybe send a report about that. To do that, open the console (key ~ or `) and type "report" (without quot. marks). Maybe also add some additional information (like "good fps but still runs bad" or something like that)... perhaps there is something else going on causing the stutter
Done.
I sincerely hope this is just some setting in the engine somewhere that got "bumped" on accident, because no other game I have "ignores" the FPS setting like this. And there's no way that this game, running at 1280x720 on this hardware with literally every special effect setting bottomed or turned off, is maxing at 60FPS and stuttering.

in the games directory open the config.properties and find the line Graphic_MaxFPS=60 it looks like its a default cap of 60 in single player also
Mine is set to 240. Used the setting in the menu to do that, and the value is reflected in the config.properties. It has no effect at all – something deeper in the rendering engine is not allowing to go over 60 acutally rendered frames.

single player or multiplayer? i ask as the server has a target frame rate that is defaulted to 60fps.
Running brand new single-player world, with all graphics settings bottomed (Legion 7 Pro, RTX 4090 Mobile, AMD Ryzen 9) – frame rate feels like not a blip over 60FPS.
And for reference, actually ray-traced games I have are running circles around this game's (current) framerate.

There is some kind of framerate issue going on. Even with the settings literally bottomed out, the game is not rendering above 60 FPS (even though the counter, using fps command, claims it is) and it feels very choppy. Having a 240 Hz screen, this is incredibly noticeable.
But lest I neglect my manners – congrats on another big release! Super exciting stuff!

Will wireable (light) switches controlling multiple light sources ever be a thing?

Hmm... that should still work I've just tested it and it worked fine on my end Did you maybe resize the tent accidentally?
Strangely enough, it works now, and nothing at all changed about the size of the tent when I loaded up the game and did both Backspace and Shift-Backspace with it equipped to hot bar and selected. I don't know. Guess I never will. *shrug* Thanks anyway!
-
I remember being able to crouch-walk into "Modern Tents" and now I can't seem to do so any more.
-
*facepalm*
Actually, that *IS* exactly what I was asking for. Also I'm stupid for assuming without testing.
-
Is there a way to sleep in a tent *without* setting a spawn point? It's really irritating that I have a base to which I want my compass to point, but when I'm WAAAY out exploring, I can't sleep through the night without messing up the compass.

I see — thanks!

Is it currently possible in the New Version to place raw stone, and thereby shape stony terrain (aside from mining it)?

Thank you!
