Moin Red!
No problem with the late reply - I appreciate the help!
When I completed the download yesterday, the game starts but just shows a blank screen with the mouse pointer.
This morning I have also seen
- File download failed (9) at the start of the download ie at the Unity crash handler
(similar yet again to DavyBoy game download error).
- the black screen when I disabled the file check.
Both with antivirus turned off.
I have noticed lately that some browser pages won't finish loading so it makes sense that it might be a network issue at my end, if other people are able to download RW successfully.
What might be useful would be some way to pause and restart the download process if this means a new connection request is sent to the server - at the moment I have no way of forcing the launcher to resend a request even if I am close to downloading all files.
Also having an alternative method to download (updates) would be very useful.
So if you can provide a Steam key that would be *very* much appreciated.
At the moment my ability to access RW is random with a small chance of success.
I'm using a wireless connection and as mentioned have the Unity version of RW.
I can provide a godot.log if needed, and have been making copies of the complete RW folder as a backup when a download process completes successfully.
Thanks
** UPDATE
I've managed to download the files but get the black screen on starting RW, so this is my first priority to resolve.
For some reason my previous godot.log has just been deleted, so I cannot provide much information from there at the moment if that's useful, sorry.
Am experiencing same download issues as previously, this time for update 0.8.5.3.
Seems there's no improvement despite turning off antivirus.
After multiple attempts, all files were downloaded but the application then crashed with message 'Failed to load il2cpp'.
On restarting the application, it prompted to fix the corrupted files, which meant another set of download attempts.
Issue resolved for download of 0.8.5.2 (2025-05-01) by turning off antivirus.
Downloading new files did not require turning antivirus off previously.
I have noticed however that I will almost always receive the 'Some game files are missing or corrupted. Do you want to fix that now?' message, so running a file check / redownload will be necessary to start the application. Testing just now, this does not require antivirus be turned off.
In the meantime, I found this post which describes a situation very similar to mine.
I've realised I should probably have posted this in Forum > Help but can't see an option here to delete this post.
I am not using the Java version.
Hi community,
Have any of you had this problem recently?
Yesterday while attempting to update to v0.8.5, the download of some files would eventually slow down and stop.
This has not happened before.
Attempting to completely download took multiple attempts across several hours yesterday and was unsuccessful.
Retrying the download this morning has made no difference.
Since the download stopped, the only alternative is to close the client and start again.
On restarting, client would show the error below and ask if I would like to fix it.
- If I select No at this point
-- the application closes, or
-- the application shows a dialogue box listing the corrupted file and suggesting I visit the forum or close the application.
- If I select Yes at this point, the download process starts again but then stops during the download of a specific file.
Under 'Options' I have tried selecting Validate and turning the file check off.
Sadly however, neither has made a difference.
I have also tried combining files from different download attempts to see if I can collect a set of valid files, but I don't know if the sizes of the files I copy mean they are a complete or only a partial file.
One file that may not download successfully more than others is textures2.bin.
