if you want i could make a plugin real quick to add a journal button to the inventory.
That is a kind offer but now that i know the journal exists (thanks again) I am ok. My concern is for other new players for how they will find the journal.

Finding aluminium ore seems to be a very common problem that causes extreme frustration. Perhaps adding a link to the journal to the inventory page would show players that the journal exists and they can then find the pages for the different ores.

Thanks again, but i am not just thinking of me, as now i know the journal exists. I am thinking about all the other players out there, many of whom have expressed extreme frustration with not being able to find Aluminium ore. Having an obvious link to the journal that would guide them would help resolve the issue, but this would need to be in the base game.

Thanks for the quick reply James. Second question. is there anything to tell the player (or remind them) that the journal exists and would have information on where ores can be found? Am i missing something? if not, perhaps it could be added as an icon in the inventory menu?

Yes, gold is indeed exclusive to arid islands and aluminum is exclusive to arctic islands. All other ores, however, can spawn on any island
Is there something in-game that tells the player this?? With all the comments I see when searching the web for 'how to find aluminium', it seems to be a common problem. I dread to think how may disappointed players gave up on the game having spent hours looking for aluminium with no idea or guidance where to start.
