I was also getting this after I reset my computer and had to reinstall Rising world. For some reason the game would only continue past the JIW screen if the steam window was closed, so try opening the game and then close the steam windows right before the game starts. This may not be the answer, but that's just what I found, however it could just be a coincidence and just be something else entirely.

You are a hero! I've been waiting for a wiki to see what kind of events I have to work with, and know I've got some! This will surely help many. Thanks!
