Pressing the reset key deselects or puts away the block. Wouldn't it be better to reset rotation/scaling but keep the block selected?

Hmm... that's strange
There is actually a key to unequip the item ("Unequip item" in the controls settings, by default it's set to H), does it maybe use the same key binding as reset? Please try to remove the binding for this key and see if this still happens. -
