Curious Poster issue

A small new update is available now!
  • So I decide to add a flag to the flagpole of this fine ship blueprint I found on this site.

This was done by adding a poster to the pole and upload/attach an image of the flag. The above picture of the final result - not the quagmire I got into.

So, adding the poster on one side:

    All good.

Now, I got baffled when I go around to the other side:

Whoa! What happened - the image from the back of the poster is now horizontally reversed - yes, I know, you do not generally look at a poster from the back, but the image should not be flipped.

Little odd - not a bug per say, but perhaps something to ponder or think about.

Anyways, my solution was to add another poster on the opposite side with the same image and fiddle around with the alignment.

    What do you think?

Hmm, have not received a response on this one.

    red51 and others.

I hope I have not offended anyone with the case by posting this issue and using a flag of my native country - I have enough issues going on right now.

This game has become my personal favorite, form of therapy and I hope to continue to contribute to it's development.

    Cheers!

  • I can only speculate here, and I don't know if that's helpful (which is why I've stayed out of it so far).

Perhaps there's some kind of mirroring happening so that the text can be read from both sides. Although I wouldn't necessarily consider that essential for a poster.

  • Thank you, very kind.

I understand the "place an image" on the poster, and it would make sense that the image is "placed" from that side.

So you go to the other side it will be placed same way - well, in a way what I did, just another poster.

But when you look at any picture - even a mirror - from the backside it does not flip horizontally.

That part is my observation - bug? Not really, just a program fluke.

It does what it is supposed to do - so, perhaps making a banner, flag and such? For the wish, I'll add that later.

I used a pic of my wife initially and it had lettering on a small poster in the background reversed, I realized the photo is flipped and that is what triggered my toying around.
