i think that there should be many different tiers of each tool so we can dig faster or when tools degrade the tool could last longer
i also think that we shouldn't start with any tools so if you do this you'll have to find a way to allow us to get the stuff too make tools
and if you need a little inspiration for some ideas with my second suggestion just have a little look at rust or reign of kings
