QuoteDisplay MoreYeah, thanks to what I've been reading recently I'd want to strongly suggest & nudge the witches in game to be 'more realistic' from the various sources I've been reading, even some Anime (slice of life) normalizations on the topic of witches.
-----------
1) Witches should simply be woman with brooms & pointy hats that point you to surplus of beer, and anything relating to those sorts of beverages. Wine, beer, rum....Anythin that keeps the rating to be 'family friend', even though it is.The only reason they wore those witch hats was to be noticed (same with broom; below). Any style can be added for variety purposes.
2) Witches can still use brooms & hats, yet the brooms above doors signals to the illerate that they're selling booze. You should be able to find them in a market place area selling various liquids. If Red51 can add a broom object above door frames then that should signal selling of drinks (preferably what's considered booze), yet I guess 'basic' medicines also. Splints, bandages, and etc.
3) For immersion one could probably find them being harassed by bandits, raiders, & pirates and such that you would have to protect them. Not just outright attacking, yet verbal triggers of abuse which escalates (into physical assult) over time that you would either A) Hire NPC guards to guard them, or B) Hire them into your settlement to stay safe as to keep safe while helping you with whatever may be done. Could also have it triggered that the Witches would be attacked in Medieval era for stealing various book types & running so they could learn various stuff. (If they're being harassed then it's either to remove competition or fearing the unknown, or to just outright rob them clean.)
4) They should be found in a simple humble abode somewhere in a deep forest, or even among farmers where they grow necessary crops to make necessary drinkable content.
5) They should be fairly casual focusing more on standing out by wearing pointy hats so other NPCs & players could spot them as merchants. They should be seen studying things on a college & university level, if we can gain those structures in game, to even teach players and other NPCs various stuff. How to farm, how to brew, survive, fish, and etc. (Maybe the modern era could be seen studying in higher forms of education, stealing those level of goodies at Medieval era, thus the attacks in #3).
6) If one must arm them to be hostile then have them use various medieval weaponry, not ,magical broom sticks. Have them come at you with swords, daggers, blow darts, and such in whatever could be considered as a 'self-defense' weaponry.
7) They did have cats & such, yet that was to keep rats away and such. They could spawn with pets, yet those pets would simply be pest control. Ravens & crows? Less so. They shouldn't be a focus, yet a possibility. Same with Owls. Cats should be the standard, if at all. They should be seen hunting & keeping rats & rodents at bay, even being told not to follow the NPC. Only the area assigned.

After watching too many 'slice of life' anime, even reading the how witch folklore came about it be neat to see Witches turned more realistic, not what the Church & overly paranoid people turned them out to be. Even claiming other 'witches' were actual witches that they were snitched on to eliminate competition.
It was a cruel, cruel world for being a casual witch selling surplus of beer, wine, among other stuff..........
In Short: Just wanting to see a merchant Witch trying to sell booze, yet for immersion sake seeing her & other woman witches being harassed (only for immersion) by bandits, raiders, pirates, and fellow competition causing you to see them kick ass & for you to also choose to guard them, gain them in your settlement, and such. They'd help you out, if their AI enables them to via cooking & such. They would sell booze, side drinks, and anything they made as 'surplus'. The cats they'd have would just be pest control. The broom would be a sale sign, and etc.
I want to see Rising World go in a proper direction, thus this Witch concept trying to take them in a new direction. (Also because there's been a light discussion about Witches).
