Does the number of items in an area affect performance?

Not just big blocks but I found one little pot in a scenario of 4 or 5 of them had over 200 individual planks making it up. That seems like an incredible amount of little objects to track and wondered if it killed peoples performance? I have a decent gaming card so I am not being hindered too much but I had to ask.

yes it does impact performance and world loading speed on slower PCs, things like this are the main reason the falling through world bug occurs when teleporting
