Just create the possibility to endlessly upload new textures to the game. These blocks with new textures should not be found in the world ofc, but you shoul dbe able to craft them from the blockbench instead.
Maybe even in connection with the steam workshop, this could be an easy way to try out other people's textures and basically just get a lot of new blocks to build with, but without having to completely change how the world looks like e.g. in Minecraft with the texture packs.

It sounds really cool, but brings technical problems with it
Each extra texture consumes memory, so we are definitely limited when it comes to the total amount of textures. The next thing is, that blocks in the world are optimized, since the game knows what textures they can have. When players upload custom textures, optimization is no longer possible that way.
Custom images already have their limitation, but usually you don't build a skyscraper out of them
So it's really a cool idea, but technically not possible that way
