Dumb question how do I know what blue print is what, besides the journal when I put them to be set down I am just guessing what they are.

All blueprints will be the one you selected from the blueprint menu, if you open it again, your currently selected one should appear selected

When you create a blueprint, you give it a name and you can name a subfolder to put it in.
When you select the blueprint you want to set, you just click on the name and can see a picture of it on the right side of the journal.
Once selected and activated you have the ghost shape of the blueprint as placeable object.
Left click holds in place, right click sets it. Arrow keys, pgup/dn move it, just like planks and beams.
If misplaced you can undo the last blueprint via console command undobp
