'm aware this has been mentioned in other threads. Tis time it had it's own. Main issue with teleports is they might make vehicles useless for travel. So I propose setting some rules because I do like the idea of teleports... I think if they are not added to the game, some mod will put them in and they will be kinda crappy.. like in MC. I prefer they are done right from the start. So.. some rules?
First off let me say I'm against any kind teleporter, Stargate, portal, or whatever else you want to call them. They're just not needed and too 'futuristic' for RW.
Alright I can support some sort of portal but not like how you guys where describing.
I think that portals should be more of a old school thing that players could not create or move. Where it would be built in the ground as a circle in dungeons or temples. so players could teleport (one way) to a different area in the dungeon. Giving a chance for the player to explore a different area in the dungeon with the high risk of getting lost. (you don't know where your going to end up the first time you take the one way trip in the portal) but can use it as a shortcut after you found out where it leads if your are smart.

Yeah, I shut up now (maybe).
What did you say?? I actually read everything here, but not this post, it is way too long
Wow lol

I love this Idea
Each type of village could have an elder which tells of legends passed down through the ages about what the old civilization was like, type of structure they built and where it might be found (surface or underground, not specific information since the world is randomly generated), and maybe what kind of technology they used?
What about instead of an elder you find hints of it in the village like the art, building building techniques
and artifacts from temples and stuff. So in the end no one tells you the history of the world but you could see it. Making you come up with your own story in your head on how the civilization went from where it is to where was.
Yes, technology. As some of the best treasure to be found in dungeons and temples etc.., I suggest there is technology which the player can only get by finding these structures and surviving the monsters which inhabit them now. Each ancient civilization could have multiple technologies the player can use. But not all structures should have technology to be found.
I also agree with this I don't think you should be able to craft these Items making them rare and unique.
I was thing more then just tech though maybe armor tools and other gear as well.

I do hope there are at least SOME monsters that do roam top-side. Not spawning in the darkness, like in Minecraft, just something that's like the Ghost mob I keep politely bringing up, a digger (weem's idea), or something that is partially hostile to your presence. Top-side would be boring.
The way I always pictured it is that there would be a few straggling monsters top side but most of the hostiles would be animals (at least on the surface). Dungeons and cave and stuff like that I pictured it to be the opposite where as there would be mainly monsters and a few straggling hostile animals.

As far as the economy thing goes, I see the possibility for two economy's. One is the npc economy, set using random prices within a margin and, the play economy which would have to use a different stranded of currency. Would be realistic, people fighting to sell there merchandise as cheap as possible while still making a profit.
As far as your I idea for the npcs I love it but I think that you might be dreaming a little big. I would want smart npcs example:
Guards
Traders
and farmers
But am afraid if you had a bank and mayor npcs it would just get to complicated, but I do hope that the npcs have a "smart" way of communicating with each other. For example farmers would give give food to guards and traders and guards would protect other npcs.

Someone mentioned unrealistic, big ideas?
Ya, we all have some right? lol I was just talking about ArcticuKitsu digging monster we all love it but it sounds like it would be a nightmare to get into the game and that I would like to read some of ZaCormyr Ideas from old posts tomorrow. I would love to check out some of your old posts too and bring them back up also if you want me to.

It's really a complicated topic... About the initial discussion concerning melons: It was intended that you cannot stack watermelons (only melonslices). The reason behind this is quite simple: When using the secondary mouse button, you cut the melon into slices, which simply exchanges the item in your active slot (the watermelon) by 8 slices. When watermelons would be stackable, this mechanism would not work.
Apart from that, we don't want to have too high stackcounts for food, just to avoid that you are able to carry enough food for the next years On the contrary, when it comes to blocks or resources, it would hurt too much when you can't stack them or when you can only carry small stacks.
Realism is anyway complicated, since the whole inventory thing would only make sense for very small items (compass, eventually bacon etc.). Bigger items don't fit into my pocket (even 1 single block would be too large), and I would also run into massive problems when I have to carry things like pianos or furnaces at all...
Maybe the restriction of stacksizes would make sense for the stranded mode, which could be considered as a "hardcore survival" (maybe a "hardcore" option would also be useful for the regular survival), which is intended to focus on survival instead of building (or in other words: you only build to survive).
I like the idea of food and water taking up a lot of room because it encourages you to go home to get more food. so your not siting In one area for a long time like you said. Am also happy that you see that cutting down our block stack size would be harmful. Over all am just happy that I don't have to worry about being stuck building a little house for three months while I try and defend my self from what ever wants to eat me.
Thanks Red, For the input it helped a lot

I agree with you.. this conversation is kinda silly, oh and I don't like playing in creative I prefer to play in survival. So far I haven't even taken a look at creative mode so I know nothing but survival mode.
Have you thought about how much harder things are going to get when they add in hostile mobs?
I wouldn't mind playing an ultra realistic game if it was just you and the wilderness, but am worried that when the hostile mobs come its going to be a race to build a shelter until you can afford to create the weapons to defend our selves.
With that said I don't mind if they tighten things up a little bit to make it more realistic I just don't see it going that far.
It would be cool to have a weight limit that would go up and down with your huger or something. I could see that in the game.
So far your Idea sounds like it would be fun for a hard core mode or something any Ideas on that?
-
You don't mind me resurfacing them? I would love taking a look at your Ideas You have a real survivalist vision about this game and I like that.
-
If you wanted to rationalize the size and number of blocks in your inventory then you only could carry like 1 maybe to blocks at a time. There is a point where you have to draw a line in between realism and functionality. This is one of those times.
-
Ya, your probably right. Gotta dream big though right?
-
Like I said I don't mind having food items and equipment take up a bunch of room but as a builder, and someone that loves being immersed in the game I would find it quit irritating to have to open up my inventory every few seconds because I need to put in a new stack of blocks in my selection bar.
I would use a rail cart system all the time for example:
When I want to build something I gather a bunch of stone (enough to fill my inventory the rest of the way)from the quarry and I travel to my town. where I figure out how many of each block I need. Expanding my inventory to where as I need to take trips back and forth from my build location to where I craft my items. and when I run out of blocks I start the process over again.
If I could Implement a form of transportation both for me and my items I would. It would save me so much time and that's without cutting my stack size.
I do think though, If a back pack where to be implemented that what our inventory is now is what it should be with the backpack equipped.

Cant wait to see it man

Ya I agree I think the only way to zoom in should be with the use of equipment. I think you could not regulate the zoom with a spyglass but could binoculars. that way if you want a more intense zoom you have to save up more materials.
-
I have to agree with you, having some sort of drone to let you look down from the sky to yourself would be great! It would be a nice way to see where you are with out all the complications of having a map. Plus you can go exploring faster and spy on other players if it has the possibility to leave the players area, But I don't know if that's over powered or not so it might have to stay in a rage of the player or stays right above the player at all times. I don't know how it should work though, there is so many possibilities.
-
In addition to this, I would then suggest to have a search function for the names, as well A filter function might even be helpful as well, e.g. to filter from what tree a wood textures comes, if it is bright/ dark and if it fits to a medieval style or is modern etc.
This is also a good Idea! maybe we filter materials used in crafting the items also?
-
Only 1 chest? When I mine, chop trees and build stuff alternately, I have to tidy up my backpack very often and I need a lot of chests for that
I think that the chest space should stop at page 1 (48 slots). I think having both pages is a little much (96 slots).

This feature should take about 3 minutes to install.
Add a Confirm delete on a created world, Either By Yes/ NO box or typing in the world Name to delete.
Its too easy to remove a world accidentally .
I completely agree with you I hope they fix this.

The way I feel about posters and the possibility of uploading videos to RW is that it is at your own discretion and the discretion of the servers you play on, on what you upload. If your some horny teen that cant get there hand off your junk while playing a game so you put naked posters all over your world that your business, but if you go on a server that wants to be family friendly and you put porn on there server. They have every right to ban your ass, and or report you. I think that admins should be able to see what is uploaded to the server and if they don't like what they see I think they have the right to punish you as they wish on the server. I think that we should still have the right to upload what we want and we should not let some immature players ruin the way we decorate or homes and bases.
I do think that being banned should follow you around for a while so that other admins on other servers know that you could be a problem player. I don't think it should be permanent but I do think it should follow you around for a while maybe on your name tag or something.
