I am almost done with my next project which is a little bit more ambitious.
But I thought I would share a couple of screenshots of my resource collection.

    Deforestation:

Quarry (sorry a lot of graphical distortion from using in game screenshot util):

I will hopefully have time to finish my next project and post it on the forum later this weekend.

With the extended construction, I find that I have to replace things cause they are a smidge too long, so how about Saw for shortening boards or posts to a specific length.
If you want to get really fancy allow players to cut at an angle instead of just shortening or allow them to cut holes out of existing boards.

    Just a thought, Cheers!

yes, No Dirt, using the pick axe to break grassy portions of the terrain.
I got a bunch when digging my quarry before the halloween update, but now I am not when I am digging just the top layer or two with my crude reduction in terrain height.

Thanks for getting back so quickly, you guys are doing an excellent job. Can't wait for next updates.

I have been hacking away at landscape and realized that I am not getting dirt when i do any more.
I have a sizable store of it from when I started my quarry but it is annoying that I am taking off a small rise and keep having to go grab dirt from my supply to do the fill back.
    Is this an intentional change?

Also is there a trick to removing construction boards? I put up some as scaffolding and not cannot get some of it to come down.

Also any idea when we may be getting the shovel? landscaping is currently next to impossible.

    Thanks

I updated my drivers a last week for another issue.
The screen shots are a bit different than what I was seeing on screen.
So in game the lights are warmer and tinted more yellow from the torches, and everything is a shade darker. The tree could not be seen.
I was going to play with it some setting and see if it is my configuration, but then i ran in to other issues and it slipped my mind.

I was planning on posting more, but a bug is preventing me from continuing in my primary world.
The extended construction system allows real detailed buildings.

Just need a shovel to level the planter boxes, and some plants to grow in there.

As for falling through the world, it is the most common way to die actually for me. Usually while in tight spaces odd shaped holes, but this time I was just running through the forest and fell through at one of the minor elevation changes, I believe a stepping down elevation. I do not think i could find the exact place again.

It happened once on this release, as i used the goto #spawn command, and fell through just as it finished loading the surroundings, but was able to quickly up arrow and do it again to prevent death since I had the console open still.

I found my first set of pumpkins!
I was able to find a pair not far from my choosen base camp, then after about 5 minutes of travel through forest and hills to another grassy plains area I was able to find a second pair of pumpkins.
Also the new scythe is working well! I am ready to prepare the land for some agriculture, and paving some paths and roads. I just need a shrubbery!(key dramatic music here)

My pumpkin find was on my second sorte out, the first one ended with a slip between

Oh boy so much fun to be had...

I think it would be neat if there was a creature, like racoon, reese monkey, or gremlin, that messed with your stuff if you don't protect your storage containers or at least keep it behind a locked door. They would possibly steal a single "shiny" or food item and disarrange the contents.
It would give additional reason to have things inside buildings and give purpose to these items outside of pvp activities.

Wow, I thank you for taking the time to respond so quickly.

Scythe: I was thinking of the tool as it actually is, and that it is a slower tool than the sickle since it is two-handed and much larger but you cover a wider area per stroke. a progressive step up from the basic sickle.

Block Based tools/objects: So I do not know how much process automation you have planned for your game. I have built factories in other sandboxes games, and being able to control the size and shape of some of the stages is helpful and give you control over how many resources you want to put toward a certain processes. Plus you can work it in aesthetically to the overall build. Plus I find it adds another level of immersion, if you have to plan and build a blast furnace or then just place it. As I said, just something to think about.

Tooltips: Sorry, NM, I didn't know about F1 in the build construction, I was going off of the ones being there for block placement, and the same thing not being there for construction.

So I was playing and really liked the fact that you could break logs after chopping up a fallen tree, and would like to that give the player firewood as an optimal wood form of fuel. Also I like when processes and work is handled outside of a interface window. It is a really neat detail that you should leverage into the experience.

Thanks again for taking my suggestions into consideration, and I look forward to see how the game progresses.
I may have to see if I can learn LUA...

First off - The game is pretty spectacular for an alpha. Runs smooth, looks great, and terrain interactions are really good. I just got the game last week and am really stoked for the future of it.

So these are things that I hope you will consider:

    Tools-

    • Rake/Sludge Hammer - Smooths out dirt/grass/sand/stone etc - Currently the natural landscape is smoother than anything I can put down.
    • Scythe and Push Mower - two higher tiers of the sickle
    • Crowbar - For removing construction and block items, and getting the materials back. Should take longer than breaking to use.
    • Saw Table - can be used to get better yields of lumber, planks, and sticks from logs

    Block Suggestions-

    • Sideways Ramp - This will allow block based building of 45 degree walls/features, that will combine well with the extended Construction capabilities. (hope these were not the slope blocks that were removed in the changelog)
    • half blocks - that can be placed in vertical and horizontal, works well with stairs for nice ceiling inlays, recessed floors, and wall nooks
    • block based tools/objects - instead of/addition to prefabbed furnaces, kilns, tanks. doors, gates - allow players custom build ones where the design of it adjusts it's capacity/fuel requirements/etc. use a key items placement to active the custom builds like a grate or valve or hinge.

    Extended Construction Suggestions -
I know this is a new feature and that it is probably has a bunch of stuff that you have not implemented yet. Just a couple of items to think about

    • Tool tips for all the different manipulations (rotations, expansions/contractions, locking in place). took awhile to figure them all out on my own
    • Construction object requests - I realize that there will be limitations on physics and such of these items

      • square fence posts/round poles - i know you probably already have them in the works, just the main things i want for my current construction projects.
      • Ropes/Chains - bridges and such
      • Canvas/cloth - custom tents/awnings

Again, you guys are doing an awesome job, and can't wait for the next update.

EDITED - Found the requested feature while looking for y rotations.
