Hi everyone,
I want to express my frustration about a major limitation in the new Unity version of Rising World: there is no way to play local multiplayer without an internet connection. This is especially disappointing considering that the old Java version supported this just fine.
In the current Unity version, you're forced to run a dedicated server – and that server only works through Steam, meaning: no offline mode, no LAN support, no way to connect directly without the internet. That makes it impossible to just play with a friend on the same network, for example during a LAN party, on the road, or on vacation without a stable internet connection.
What makes it even worse: a friend and I bought the game specifically because of the local multiplayer feature, expecting it to still be available in the Unity version. Now we’re stuck with two paid copies and no way to play together.
For comparison: games like Minecraft allow fully offline servers with no online requirements, either through LAN or standalone setups. Titles like Vintage Story and Valheim also offer simple, direct multiplayer options – all without being tied to platforms like Steam.
Rising World used to be a game that gave players the freedom to host and play offline with ease. Why was this removed or made unnecessarily complicated? For many in the community, local multiplayer is not just a “nice to have” – it’s a core feature. And right now, the Unity version sadly falls short.
I truly hope the dev team takes this criticism seriously and considers bringing back a proper offline/LAN multiplayer option. The community deserves it.
Best regards,
Blumenmagier
