So I am in the Artic area according to the map I have made. I have been mining and looking for Aluminum, but have been unlucky so far. None of the mountains I have found have snoiw on them, but all of them are well over Y-245. Does there need to be snow? What is the best elevation for finding Aluminum?

Look at the boulders on the surface. If they glitter a little, they're chunks of aluminum. There's so much aluminum lying around up there, there's no need to search underground.

Do I need to go beyond the map on the Artic side? I have walked the whole island and haven't really seen any glittering rocks.

The arctic region is a completely different set of islands that are north above the edge of the map you made. Likewise the arid regions will be a set of islands to the south completely off of the edge of the map you made.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if there was more then what the map showed.

You can just dig. Wolves and bears won't attack. There's a lot of aluminum, coal, and iron underground.

Snow’s not required. Aluminum spawns best between Y-240 and Y-300. Make sure you’re in a true Arctic mountain biome (use F3 to check).
