Only Bandits I found was in the desert island. I did blocks 3x5x5 (3 high) but they climbed right up. Once I raised to 5x5x5 size then they could not climb up. Found 1 tent in the desert with 2 cloth bags and lamp but left my hammer back in the base. Forest and arctic island so far no human bandits. Had wolves, bears, and lions. I like to try my spear out, reach seem better than the sword.

About the blocks, how much exactly is above ground? If you put it directly on ground, one part is going under the ground, It has to be at least 2,5 blocks above ground.

Not sure what you mean with the hammer, but you don't need it to pick up the loot. Just hold F and select pick up.

You have to take 1x1x1 block and increase the size. Hold L Shift while using arrow keys, page up or down, and backspace go back to default. clear terrain, find a high point then build from there. Insert copy the block size that the cross hairs it on.
