Need help with pc issues (Off topic, but this is the best place for help)

  • Okay, I need some help with my pc, since soem things are not normal. It is a bit off topic, but I think this is the best place forhelp, since I think red and some other people do know this issues.

So a few days ago, I added a second SSD to my pc, this was a old one from my old pc, so som files were still on there. I pluuged it into my SATA port. After I installel everything, all games started to struggle a lot, also RW. From my normal 40-50 fps it dropepd to 10 and even 6. So I resetted my bios. Still same issue. So then I disabled and removed my ssd that was causing this issues. Still all games lagged, and one game even let windows chrash saying: Driver Power Sate Failure. I have no idea hat this is, but before people start spamming to update my drivers: I have some older hardware, everything is up to date and every state is ok. So, I did a file check with the command prompt, and it says that it found corrupted files, and recovered them. Now when I started playing rw, my fps was normal again, but I still don't trust it, because in this drama, sometimes rw did not struggle at all, just the normal fps. I hopefully fixed it, but I am not sure. So I hope for more help and explaination soon. Greetins, CoenyRW/truenordsurvivaler

  • First to say, it's confusing that you use two different names on the forum. Maybe best to stick to one please.

This issue happens in two cases:

    1. You use a piece of hardware that worked before with an older version of windows or at least older driver(s). When placed in a new computer a conflict can occur; the new computer doesn't recognise the added hardware. I think in fact the file check didn't find "corrupted files", it may be just files to old for the windowsversion you use today. And recovering is mostly an other word for deleting in that case. Besides that the different speed (and age) of the SSD's can be an issue, certainly when both are used when running the same task(s).
    2. You have to register the use of Windows for legal reasons. The registrationprocess takes in account what hardware you have. Thats why, if you change several pieces, they recommend to repeat the registrationprocess. It makes sure no 2 copies of the same Windowslicense are used.

Updating the drivers ? Standardanswer. Another one you hear alot: re-install windows ||

I hope it helps you a bit.
