on our server we are using the in-game claims system, today I cannot remove claims, I have tried many different ways and settings in the claim settings and cannot remove claims, I did change a few small settings in areas file at the server files when trying to fix a different issue, I don't know what I've done wrong

Oh—that seems to be a fundamental issue and likely has nothing to do with your changes; in single-player mode, you can't delete an area either—even if it was just created.

maybe the hotfix maybe I turned settings back but it's
all good now -
Unfortunately there was indeed a bug in the radial menu which prevented you from performing any actions that required a button to be held (e.g pick up objects, remove areas etc), but that was fixed with the recent hotfix
