Using a allready created world

Hello there . I have a game world with alot of time and hours invested in it with my friends. We are thinking about getting a server so we can all have access to it and i dont always need to have my game up and running 24/7 for people to join in. My question is if we setup a server or rent one can we do that with a exsisting game world or does it have to start off with a blank new world? And if we are able to do that how do we go about doing so? Appreciate any info thank you.

yes you can use your existing world. Before starting the server you will have to copy your world to the server's Worlds directory and then change the "server_world_name=Your_World's_Name" in the server.properties file
