ABM Animal invincible

Hello. I see that we can make our animals invincible with the gold rod, but I can't find information on what that means. How does this change the animal? I tried it on my elephant, but I don't notice anything different.

nobody should be able to kill it unless you take it off even you. to harvest for food you will need to remove the invincible before butchering it.

"Make your animal invincible:
Hold a goldrod in your hand, point at it and press the interaction key (default is F).
If you press the interaction key again on an invincible animal it will become mortal again."
