Glad to hear that it works now! Please keep an eye on it if this issue occurs again in the future (I mean that the game still runs in taskmanager after termination). If it does, please let us know :)

Yes that's true, everybody who plays the current alpha should be aware that a world may not be compatible with a newer version of the game. But we do our best to avoid this, so we implemented a converter that automatically adapts an old world to a newer version as good as possible.

Perhaps we may think about it, but we won't do this change for the next update release. First we want to see how good the construction system works, and if it's really capable of replacing the existing wooden blocks ;)

    Hi,

I'm sorry to hear that you've encountered this problem on Mac! Currently I must admit, that the Mac version indeed has two big problems: An effect called SSAO does not work, it's enabled by default and causes the game to crash on MacOS, and apart from that, the Mac Launcher does also not work out of the box.

We will definitely fix both issues, and I'm really sorry that they're not fixed yet. It's mainly related to the fact, that we don't have a MacOS testing environment.

However, here are some workarounds for the issues:

    1. First of all, to start the game, you can alternatively use the terminal. You can download the "universal version" of the game (that only contains a .jar file). It's recommended to use some start parameters (they may not be necessary), this would be the line (on a 64-Bit OS) to execute the jar:
    java -jar -XX:MaxDirectMemorySize=1536m -Xmx1024m concept.jar

    2. You should disable SSAO, but you have to do it manually. After the first start of the game, a "config.properties" file is created in your game directory. Open it with a texteditor and watch out for "graphic_ssao", then simply set its value to false.

Within the next weeks, we will do some major changes to the game (this includes a new launcher etc., but we will annnounce it here), and you have our word on it that we will definitely fix the MacOS issues and offer a "working" (and signed) App then :)

I like your suggestion! :) But I'm not sure if the new construction system is able to replace the old block system, even if we're just talking about specific aspects (like wood blocks in this case). Both systems are different, and the main advantage of the block system is, that it's very easy to use. I'm not sure if it's wise to force people to use the new construction system for such a trivial task.

Another problem is that removing wooden blocks now would be a big problem for all existing worlds. For example, if someone already built a whole city (who knows? ^^), and used plenty woodblocks, it would be annoying for him when half of the work was done for nothing :/

When starting a SP game, it's automatically a MP server (I know it's not obvious ^^ ), so ppl can join your game when they know your IP (but your ports must be forwarded, or otherwise you have to be in the same network).
Alternatively you can download the serverfiles from our homepage and run it on a dedicated server.

But the only way to join a server is to connect to the server IP directly, since the serverlist does not work yet.

    Hi ;)

is this game medieval oriented or modern?

The game features medieval gameplay elements as well as modern elements. Currently, there are more modern elements in the game (especially when taking a look at the current objects and furniture), but we're also going to add more medieval objects to the game in the future. It's planned to bring this game in a direction that proposes something like "starting with medieval tools, and get the ability to craft modern tools and machines over time).

is modding possible? is it officialy planned or already supported?

Yes, modding is possible. On the one hand, we offer LUA support out of the box, which can be considered as a "light modding variation". It allows you to influence the gameplay, and since it's running serverside, the connecting clients don't have to download or install something.
On the other hand, classical modding (e.g. replacement of assets, adding new content, or full conversions) is possible as well. It's "as easy" as modding was for Minecraft in the early days. We want to actively support modders.

    what exactly is already available?

Either you can take a look at the featurelist on our homepage, which contains only the major features, or you look at the news history (here or on IndieDB) to get some information about the things that were added to the game. There are also some Let's Plays available, you find some here.

is there room for an artist in the team? (:P)

That depends on what you're doing exactly ;) We're looking for someone who is able to create 3D Models and Animations. Perhaps you can send me more information about you via mail or as a private message ;)

Thanks! Yes, that would be possible, although something like wallpapers are also planned for the future (as a separate feature), which can be explicitly combined with blocks. But the basic idea behind this is correct, building the shell of the house with blocks, and use the new construction system for the interior.
In this case, the extended construction system can be compared with something like wainscoting (since planks have a fixed thickness of 3-4 cm).

Or it can be used for the creation of smaller things: The small shed in the pictures took ~1-2 minutes to build, but for larger buildings, especially with multiple storeys, it's easier to use the classic block construction system ;)

    Hey folks!

Today we want to give you a small preview of the next update, which will be available shortly and introduces the extended construction system, which has been much mentioned in the past. It will greatly improve your possibilities to build, since you'll be able to place single construction elements - like wooden planks and beams - without any restriction. This also involves rotation around all axes.

Technically, all materials that can be used for blocks are also available to the new construction system, in other words, nearly 200 different materials. However, they'll be restricted to the type of the construction element, for example a wooden plank can't have a metal texture, only a wood texture. But apart from wooden planks and beams, there will be more different construction elements in the future, like stoneplates, metalplates etc.

Of course the "old" block construction system will still be available. That system is easier to use and provides faster results, while the upcoming construction system is a little bit more complicated and it takes a longer time to build, but gives you a lot more possibilities and allows you to build with a high level of detail.
For example, it's recommended to build a big house with blocks (i.e. the "old" construction system), and use the extended construction system to give your house more detail (e.g. for decoration, room partitioning etc.). But when you want to build a shed or a small shelter, the extended construction system is superior.

Below you find some examples of the new construction system. The first three images show a small wooden shed made out of single planks (and you see that it looks much better than if it would have been made out of blocks). The fourth screenshot shows a improvised footbridge in a cave, and the last screenshot just another example of a small bridge.

    Stay tuned!

By the way: When this update is finished, we will start working on animals and monsters! :)

    Hallo Leute,

    Hi folks,

I want to announce that the slope blocks (see attachment) will be removed in the next update. The reason for this decision is the fact, that placement of this blocktype is really complicated, and there are also too many different corner elements required to make the slopes useful.
Please note that the ramp blocks are not affected by this change!

The next update will bring a new extended construction system, which allows you to place planks and other elements with precise positioning and rotation. This will be a great alternative to the slopes, so there is definitely no reason to mourn the removal of the slopes ;)

It makes sense that you don't use the slopes anymore. All slopes that have already been placed in your world will be deleted with the next update, and the resources for those elements (stone) will be moved automatically into the player's inventory.

    Hi folks! :)

First of all, if you have expected the extended construction system which was announced previously: It's unfortunately not available yet. We're still working on it, but are confident that we're able to bring it to you with the next update! :)

However, let's focus on the actual update: First of all, it brings two new blockforms, corner elements for ramps. There are still corner elements for stairs missing, but they'll be available shortly.

The next interesting feature is the ability to loot dead bodies: When you die, you leave a corpse that "contains" your old inventory. So you're able to get your painstakingly collected loot back.
After a given amount of time (configurable in multiplayer), your corpse despawns and leaves a small cross at your grave (which can be removed of course).

Apart from the new features, we also did some changes: Now objects have collision while placing, so objectplacement becomes more easier.
Another change concerns the messages when someone invites you into a group (multiplayer-only): The dialog has been completely reworked and looks much better now.

Last but not least, this update contains - as usual - some bugfixes. A few critical bugs have been removed, as well as some "cosmetic problems".

Wie genau meinst du das? Also grundsätzlich ist dafür ja im deutschsprachigen Abteil das Unterforum "Allgemeine Diskussion" vorgesehen, also da kann jeder seine Meinung kundtun, Features diskutieren, Kritik äußern, natürlich auch im Dialog mit anderen Usern. Oder meinst du noch etwas anderes?
