Are you sure the steam dedicated server can be downloaded anonymously? im getting "failed to install app 33910 <no subscription>" I want to try and avoid installing steam on my server if possible as I want all the resources available for the server.

DS no longer works after updating, the previous version works just fine.

phew I thought I was maybe being punished for something lol, but I guess if others are having the same problem, it is probably most likely a problem with jiw authentication servers.

Today I have come to play RW and there is a problem of the game not connecting to hive. This is to do with my client. My server still connects as it should without any problems. My internet connection is reporting ok, firewall configured correctly as the server runs from the same internet connection and that is not reporting any errors. i have tried it on my laptop under steam as well and have the same issue, Ive tried resetting the router so it aquires a fresh WAN Ip address. I cant even connect to my own server on the same network using direct local IP address unless I turn off hive verification. The only option left to investigate is my actual account with JIW-Games.
Please can you let me know if my account is still valid, I would hope it is being as I paid full price for this game. I also cant think of any reason why my account would be suspended as I have never behaved in an antisocial or malicious way while playing on my own or others servers.
I do hope this issue can be resolved so I can carry on developing my server for the community.
Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback, glad to hear that
Where do you get this information from? Please keep in mind that the game allocates the max memory from the beginning (depending on the OS), so if you assign 8 GB to the game (this happens automatically if you have enough RAM), the Java VM will allocate it (even if the game actually only consumes a few MB)
When you're just in the main menu (i.e. just started the game, so you haven't loaded a world before, for example), the overall memory consumption should not exceed ~ 1 GB. You can get the actual memory consumption by typing memory into console ("used" heap + direct memory)
When a world is loaded, you can press F3 in order to get accurate memory stats.
Yeah more armors are actually in the works
About the samurai helmet, what do you mean exactly? Something like a mask? That's definitely planned, unfortunately I have no ETA for that yet
Yes, unfortunately light still does not get obstructed by blocks or planks. It's on our todo list, and it wouldn't be a huge problem for blocks, but calculating the light gets pretty expensive when taking planks and beams into account (especially when placing lots of construction elements). We still did not find a way to generate it properly without killing the performance.
I do apologize i think Ive found the problem, the memory leak was caused by a compatibility issue with the update and an older version of Java, Ive updated Java and it seems to be using less ram now. So anyone with a similar issue, try updating Java to the latest version.
-
Still using a huge amount of ram, almost 7gb just on the menu screen alone!
-
Are you sure you used the latest serverfiles to update it and not the ones from before one of the recent bugfixes? There was indeed a memory leak somewhere between the bugfix updates but that has already been patched

Yes i got it from the server help section from the developers post, so It should be the latest files. Maybe my client didn't update properly on steam. I will wait until tomorrows update and see if its any better.

Nice update, server update went smoothly - the only problem Ive discovered is a memory leak causing the client to become unplayable after 30 mins. Perhaps this will be fixed in Saturdays update.

After yesterday's update the posters are flickering again.

Love the new content, A map will be most useful when looking for areas to build on. The terrain generation seems a little slower than before though.

Thanks for the update, I love Rising World!

Old bug on Intel HD videocards
The bug is there on intel hd 4400 and also the average fps has dropped from 25 to an average of 8, the game is now unplayable on these cards.

Some others have reported the horizon issue as well. I haven't heard of anyone's worlds not converting. Could you possibly share your server log with us? If you copy it to your local machine and load it, you can set the following setting in config.properties to enable the debug console:
game_debug_console=true
Ive set the debug command and got the server log, the log says i connected but all my client machine does is stay on the loading screen with no progress on the red bar, if i try and connect from the server list then it comes up with error could not connect. If i create a new world it works fine.

I love the weather and how it just adds hugely to the realism of the game, however there are two huge bugs Ive discovered.
1. There is a large white strip that appears in the sky and ends at the horizon, no matter which way you look its always there and also it appears on the menu screen.
2. this version is incompatible with older worlds. When i upgrade my server to 0.8 and try and connect its just hangs and wont load the world. I have tried copying the world file to my computer and loading it in as a local game. There is a message that its been converted, then starts to load gets to 10% and hangs. Unfortunately Steam forces us to update the game and the only way I can get back into it to rescue (blueprint) my builds is to downgrade. Can anyone tell me if this is possible to downgrade to a previous version?
anyway the game is heading in the right direction its just a shame my world is lost.

Thanks for the update I can build alot faster now! and the ambience sounds are brilliant

Ok fair enough, I thought I could have my cake and eat it by using an old intel quad core gaming rig. I have also got an i5 laptop with a build in intel graphics card as well and the game runs stable on this. It is a pity though as the game looks so much better on the Radeon card than it does on the Intel integrated! On the Radeon the game looks more natural and the colour and ambience is richer, where as on the Intel, it looks more artificial and things dont seem to blend in as well. I will try upgrading the card in my gaming rig to someting more compatiple with openGL and in the meantime play the game on the laptop.
Many Thanks

Hi,
I'm getting random in game crashes. It says that the crash happened because of an outdated video driver, yet Ive installed the newest one available. Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks

You probably mean an "ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException"? This isn't related to memory at all, however, I'd recommend to create a separate topic for that
Exactly
If there is no more reflection, make sure "Water reflections" is enabled in your settings menu. Eventually also make sure that "graphic_water_reflections_quality" in your config.properties file is set to 3. What HD 4400 do you have exactly, an "Intel HD Graphics 4400", or an "ATI Radeon HD 4400 Series"?Ive just checked my config. Its set to 3 but the problem persists. I have an Intel HD Graphics 4400

I just went on Freaks R Us the water is Clear, and i made a small pond in my single player world, the water is also clear, I'll inform red if it does it again.
and my video card is AMD HD5670.
Its clearboth Day and Night
Around a month or so ago I started experiencing the same issue, the reflections of the trees dissapeared. Ive tried looking at the game config file as suggested, the water post processing is set to true but the problem persists. Im running an intel HD4400 GPU. It still looks great though without the reflection on , but with it on the water looked as good as it does in real life!
Anyway I like the new update, it adds a bit more challange to the game - Thankyou to the Devs for such a brilliant game.

My server is having the same problem, its not appearing on the list in alphabetical order. It displayes all worlds with the first letter up to H then no more. It appears in player numbers order. Being as the default setting is alphabetical my players are thinking my server is offline. Apart from that im really enjoying the update
