The next update will be available on Wednesday, December 18, in the early evening (GMT+1).

This update will not yet replace the Java version, instead it is the actual content update. We'll provide more information about the transition together with the update.

Good stuff! Wish the outside of the castle didn't have texture tiling.. but that's not your fault lol. Although you might break up those outer walls a bit with more details if you wanted. ;)

Checked this out in ME. Theare are several terrain tools right now (cube, sphere, autolevel, etc.) which you can use not only to flatten the ground but also to make caves. There are no natural caves afaik yet.

Are player made caves needing support to not cave in yet?

I also hope that weather will affect the light coming from the sun and moon. And the weather should be different depending on where you are in the world, that is if there is an equator and polar regions. If biomes are random blobs then well it doesn't matter much if weather is the same everywhere. It would be interesting if there could be more rain near the coast.

Anyways, yes a moon! But also, real darkness where there is no light source. ;)

    I've got some confusion haha.

Alpine haystack? Arctic pillow bush? Palm trees are in the tropics generally. Jungle would only have palm trees on the coast maybe.

Does anyone know of a good site with animals on it that I can practice my blender? Preferably free. I need practice with rigging and variation editing.
I have an idea for a creature that's not quite of this world but may fit in. A unique creature thats associated with the game. Like notch's creeper. It won't explode I promise. I may take some time to make it, I'm still learning.

Are the animals already in the game filed somewhere, Accessible and legal to work with?

Not sure about a site with animal models. About the RW animal files, might want to msg devs direct about that but I doubt they would care unless you tried to make money off of it. Here - @red51

For sure water is a pain in the ass in any game. So honestly I would be fine with static bodies of water with maybe a small wave animation on the top. Can have ponds, lakes and oceans with that system. Still want to possibly see fish swimming around which we can catch with that fishing rod idea and spear fishing.

Everquest Next, you meant this: The Workshop Show #31: Building Qeynos?

But yeah if flowing water can be done in RW that doesn't lag like hell... yay!

Yeah Notch has got some full pockets for sure. I guess he has no regrets for leaving Wurm Online haha

The idea of an "planet simulation" (i.e. when I walk for a given amount of time into one direction, I will finally end up again at the spot where my journey started) is quite interesting, but there is one problem: It's difficult to find a good size for the world. It is more complicated for us to implement such a system than simply implementing a "real" endless world, but it would be a pity if the world is still too big that nearly no player would realize that it is spherical.
Otherwise, if the world has a fixed size, there could be indeed not enough room for big multiplayer servers, and apart from that, all our effort we already put into preparations for an "unlimited" world would be a waste of time ^^

So I think a (horizontally) unlimited world is the best approach (low priority though), but there will be a few exceptions: On the one hand, the stranded mode will most likely have a fixed worldsize, surrounded by an ocean. On the other hand, people will be able to restrict the size of their world in creative mode (this is especially interesting for creating adventure maps).
(Currently you can btw. already restrict the world with the help of Lua scripts)

If you must, do the horizontally endless option (I assume north and south would be bordered by ocean). If possible, make a globe man.. that would Fing rock! But even with the horizontally endless option, you could still have an equator and cold polar regions in the north and south (yup.. going to push my other idea here :P). Size can be figured out based on general server size (max players). Even with hundreds of players I don't think size will be an issue if the globe spread out is like 1000x1000km. I mean, if endless is an option, size shouldn't be a problem for a globe. ;)

But yeah, stranded mode on a large island surrounded by ocean. Forgot about that haha

Actually seems like you have perfect plan @red51 :D But I don't think that makeing the world unlimited would be wasted time, if you implement something like a planet, because there will always be some people who enough this or another mode. I guess haveing a real planet ingame would be an idea for a very late point in the development, for now everything you do currently seems perfectly fine to me

    And this.

I think if you're out in the open, there should be a bit of ambient light. If you go in a totally closed off room or deep enough into a cave etc.. it should be just pitch black. You can't see your hand in front of your face kind of darkness.

I doubt running out of ore will be an issue. Especially if the world will be endless. You'll just have to travel more. But it would take a LONG time to have to go far at all... The earth in RW is plenty deep.

Why not have this be part of the journal. As you encounter animals and monsters, structures etc.. it records the information you revealed. This would be very useful for the crafting system and cooking etc..

It would be interesting if a journal was done for adventure mode, and stranded mode maybe. I means to keep track of quests or objectives etc... plus events that happen to you and maybe a way for you to actually write down (you typing I mean) info about a place you want to remember more about then say placing a waypoint (if that is added..)

Another point i want to pick is the number of textures itself. For many it is great to have such a large number of building materials, but i think that it is too much. For instance we have 4 sandstone textures and we have 8 or so plaster. I even want to say that i miss the consistency of it, we have no "types" of wood or stone. My idea is to remove some textures from the game and wait til they are needed by content. E.g. new Tree, new natural Stone.

I would agree. To make things simple, at least to begin with, I would stick to just 2 or 3 textures for each type. Even with that, in the end there will still be a lot of textures to build with.

Currently the game feels a bit ahead of itself in some ways. Some balancing could be done. Thanks Nova. I honestly wouldn't bring up something that affects building for fear of having a mob after me lol :P

Endless ocean surrounding a large continent is interesting but I don't think it works. Just killing the player with big waves isn't the best option, as funny as it might be hehe. Ideally it would be great to have a simulated globe... keep going in one direction and you'll come full circle and back to your starting position. I can dream can't I?!

To do any kind of negative affect on the player for going to high, the height of the playable area needs to be much higher. But yeah, as you got higher and higher it would get cold.. but a player could prepare for that since there will be some kind of snow biome to survive in at some point.

Instead, have altitude sickness which might lead to death if you stay up high for too long. :D

Pretty sure everything you mentioned has been brought up. Might save you some time to do some searches in the forum (top right of page) and comment on each thread a bit.

    ;)

Welcome though! You've joined a group of peeps here all waiting patiently to see what comes next from the devs. All of us drooling one way or another over potential features etc... lol
