I would go for straight for a host like Ionos. Rent a Windows server and then install RW yourself on it. The game server rentals you often see are usually "middle man" kind of setups.

Hi everyone,
I found this gaming community back in 2017 and haven't looked back. Huge thanks to red51 for not just creating Rising World, but sticking with it!! Can't emphasise this enough - c' mon, complete rewrite!? How many people would have just given up?
You are a bunch of excellent human beings
and I'm proud to say I am part of this community!
Some of you will know I run a multiplayer server - Medieval Realms, some of you may know I also run a public free-for-all Wiki - wiki.rising-world.co.uk. Seriously anyone can contribute so long as it is Rising World related - you can even write stuff on it bout your own servers!
That said, Red51's hard work and the creation of the API was/is the single reason I got back into programming after a pretty lengthy break.
What I would like to do now is help create open source plugins (whilst still writing my closed-source MR). Firstly, to help out players, and secondly, to help out those who wish to learn how to program. My way of giving back to the community that has helped me learn.
So my question is basically this; what king of plugins are people after?
I'm already going to create a time shift plugin, this will enable people to run servers with long days and short nights.
But what else would you like?

Medieval Realms has a new logo

But yes, fully agree, anyone can pull the plug on a silo.

We are but temporal entities.

fully publicly editable and anyone can, when they have time, join and leave the wiki project as they please
The website wiki.rising-world.co.uk is a public wiki which anyone can edit and uses the same software as Wikipedia.

Fandom is covered in adverts.

I started a Wiki for RW about a year or so ago..
https://wiki.rising-world.co.uk
The only thing I can say is it will never have adverts on

Hi Red, I do use the win_startscript.bat to start the server?
Edit: oh yes, I modified it some time ago
luckily there is a win_startscript.bat.old (good one historic Yahwho)

Hi,
Does the server.properties server_memory field actually work?
I've set it and it does not appear to change the value you see on the console as the server starts up?
I see:
"Rising World - 0.9.6 - Dedicated Server
Windows Server 2012 R2 6.3 Java 1.8.0_291 (amd64) Memory: 6681 MB"
But that 6681 MB is neither the servers memory or the value set in the server_memory field?

Thinking laterally surely the best way for people to support JIW Games if they so wanted would be to help promote the game and spread the word.
Youtube videos, Twitter posts, game reviews, fan sites, etc. more creative the better.
Donating an extra $ 5 seems to remind me a little bit of the fable of giving a starving man a fish, he will feed his family for a day, teach him how to fish and he will feed his family for a lifetime.
Upshot is if you want to "donate" extra money to JIW, just buy another copy of the game? Hell, maybe even buy a copy and give away the code on a public forum?
An official server would also probably be detrimental to all the other servers, not to mention the complex political situation that would put plugin developers in. Who's plugins would be on the official server? Who would decide which ones? Or would it just be vanilla? Who would moderate? etc. etc.
Sounds like a nice idea until you scratch the surface.

Congratulations on a decision well made

You can also spawn snakes
I'm guessing the animations were the reason they were not included.
-
As a compromise, maybe we could have a server setting to set max block size allowed red51 ?

Medieval Realms now has a YouTube series by Run and Hide Gamer

Desmagu completely off topic but... your avatar.... is that from the Offspring? I recognise it but can't quite put my finger on why.
