Game keeps freezing on Linux

A small new update is available now!
Update: The standalone should now be available! Sorry for the delay!
  • Not sure why but as of the new update my game keeps on freezing after about 30 minutes of playing. I had freezing before but it wasn't this bad or frequent.

Happened while opening the map (frequent freezing cause), mining rocks (also frequent) but now I was just standing on a boat doing nothing in particular.

Not sure what kind of information is needed or how I can debug, but I'm using Arch Linux Kernel 6.12.63-1-lts

    Using nvidia drivers 590.48.01

Also had the same exact issue on both desktop and laptop both freezing the same way after about 30 minutes every time, don't know if the fact my night and day cycle is set to 30 minutes is a factor, too but it would freeze during the day as well so I don't think it is

  • I'm sorry to hear about that :/ Unfortunately it's difficult to troubleshoot this kind of issue, as there is typically no error in the log... but maybe the log file contains any clues about what's going on. If the game freezes again, maybe restart it (at least to the main menu), then open the console and enter "report" (maybe add a brief description like "game freeze").

But in fact there are reports from several Linux-users who suffer from crashes... it does not affect all Linux users, but it indicates that there might be an internal issue with the current Unity version (although Linux support in Unity is horrible anyway). It might also be related to Vulkan.

However, in the meantime, you could try to run the game via Proton, that might solve the issue :)
