Servers not updating to new version

A new update (0.9.3) is available now!
  • I'm not sure what is going on, but the last update(s) are showing my servers in red on the multiplayer. I have done updates via WindowsGSM and steamCMD and can't seem to get them to update. Two out of three show different lines of text in the console like it is "new" but one still will not update in any way. I tried the "app_update 339010 -validate" in steamCMD and it loaded and that doesn't work. I have verified the files in steam, I have "update and validate" in WindowsGSM, I have restarted computer, restarted windowsGSM, restarted Steam, sold my soul to the Devil and nothing seems to work.

Has anyone else have an idea why this is not working properly or know the super secret solution?

    two servers give me this:

And the one that refuses to update in any way gives me this:

  • I host my server via GTX. I always have to trigger the updates myself there and use a button to clear the Steam cache beforehand; otherwise, nothing gets updated.

Unfortunately, though, I can't tell you exactly what that button does to make it work.

In the Steam client settings, under "Downloads," there is also an option to clear the download cache—I don't know if the two are related.

I triggered update, update validate, restart everything and I did do that cache clear like you mentioned and still not work. I redid SteamCMD, "app_update 339010 -validate" and still wont get the game update.

  • Sorry for my late response! This is unfortunately a known issue in SteamCMD :/ You can try this workaround:

    1. Start SteamCMD and enter login anonymous
    2. Enter app_info_update 1
    3. Enter app_update 339010 validate
    4. Enter quit

If that doesn't help, close SteamCMD and delete the "appcache" folder in the SteamCMD directory, then try to update the server again.

Please let me know if that works :)

  • I tried both options and both did not work. I restarted steam and computer still not updating. Two of them did update for a very short time in 0.9.2 but then 0.9.3 went out, now none will.

  • Hmm... this might be related to WindowsGSM then. Probably it uses a different path for SteamCMD (so deleting the appcache had no effect). Try to check if there is an "appcache" folder under "WindowsGSM/installer/steamcmd/" and delete it.

It might also be necessary to explicitly set an install dir in SteamCMD (because if you manually launch SteamCMD, it writes into its own "steamapps" folder instead of the WindowsGSM server folder. You can set an install path with the force_install_dir command (you have to call this before calling login. Set the install dir specifically to "/WindowsGSM/servers/<number>/serverfiles".

If it still doesn't work, you can check the file "WindowsGSM/servers/<number>/serverfiles/steamapps/appmanifest_339010.acf" with a text editor. Can you post the lines "buildid" and "StateFlags" here? Maybe also enter app_info_print 339010 in SteamCMD and post a screenshot or the output here :)
