Hey was running around in some dungeons eariler today and found some intresting traps that i tried in many diffrent ways to obtain but it didnt work. So i wonder if there is any plans on makeing them obtainable?. Otherwise i think that would be a good thing to implement, it would allow ppl on MP servers to build minigames and many other fun things.
Craftable/obtainable dungeon traps

if you are playing in SP or are a server admin on a server you can obtain all items from the console.
Have a look at this thread for all commands pertaining to the dungeon update: Some commands to spawn objects (Update 0.8.0.3) [includes one NPC not officially released by the devs in spoiler tag]

I was told by the one of the owners of the server im playing at to ask in the Forum for Red to make them obtainable for everyone in one way or another. I was thinking just like you that every in game item must be obtainable trough commands, so i turned to a admin/owner who directed me here.

A good idea would be to turn the torture rack into a new crafting station for all dungeon related items/traps etc.
what you can also do is blueprint the traps from the dungeon and use the blueprint to place them wherever you want
-
haha yeah that would be pretty cool haha.
Oh yeah i need to do some reading on how blueprints work and try that out. Thanks for the tip!

have a look at the video in this post for info on blueprints How to Create a Blueprint...

I definately like this idea. I hope we will get some kind book/blueprint system where we can discover crafting recipes for such items like dungeon props. Perhaps they can be found in jars or books in libraries (if ever added to dungeons).

and find it in a dungeon

and find it in a dungeon
Yes, exactly! a blueprint for something new could be a treasure and the blueprint doesn't have to be for an Iron Maiden or a torture rack. It could be to unlock lamps and other more modern inventions. But that goes into ideas of progression where we start from primitive stone tools and work our way up to more advanced craftables.

Finding modern items/bps in a dungeon dosnt sound right. but some finding bps/books for knowledge about old building stuff would be really nice if we are taking everything 1 step further then what i stated in my post yeah
-
Totally.. to me a "dungeon" represents the iron age so there would be books and scrolls with information on building old things such as the crossbow (that would be a good dungeon only find). Maybe abandoned libraries or other types of larger buildings might be another type of ruin we encounter. Those could have more modern crafting recipes
-
Yeah, the cabins could hold newer recipes. And finding recipes that way would add to the "adventure" part of the game. But might ruin the game for others who are just in it for the survival building :P. But me my self like the concept.

I had an idea a while ago that there could be a game mode in addition to the standard and creative... We could have a mode where you start barehanded and have to work your way up from the stone age to modern age. Recipes would have to be unlocked as key events happen such as discoveries made or old books found (lost knowledge from a past civilization). For example, if you find tin (not in the game) then you are able to advance into the bronze age (a milestone achievement) and more crafting options are possible.
The standard mode (current default) can stay the way it is as all the crafting recipes are unlocked.Anyways, we're still a ways away before any of that even might happen but it would be neat to see what develops in the future. I hope this idea is being considered atleast.
