Well, I mean in minecraft you'd get villages, temples and dungeons generate randomly. i don't see why some kind of ice pallace couldn't auto generate as well. I know the ice biomes in minecraft are pretty rare but I am pretty sure that even Minecraft doesn't have ice palaces. So I'm totally for doing a +1 on that game ;)

A fortress of solitude would be an awesome generated NPC structure in arctic biomes And yes, I like the glowy pink stuff too. It reminds me of that time I felt indigestion one day at the chemical lab so I reached for Pepto Bismo in the cabinet only that's not what it was. One of the scientist left an experimental sample in there. I drank a cup of that glowy pink goo and transformed into... Fabulous Radioactive Gay Man!!!

Before it wore off, I cerainly looked better in tights than Christopher Reeve

I can certainly see a Halloween themed additions to the game. i loved the skeleton skins you could apply to dinos in ARK. Perhaps a spooky variation of the main theme music from Rising World could also be created. :)

I can agree with you strongly there. It's all on the side of mods. And I do find your dream interesting. Wait till you get more hardcore when you start dreaming more of Rising World in an equal fashion to how I played Minecraft to gain daily nightly dreams of it in various forms.

I'd still be amused if Red51 jokingly added in a U-Boat of his choosing for the fun of it all.

Would you be exploring the swamp biomes in a u-boat? Going to wage war on alligators?

When I first started to play Minecraft, I had near nighly dreams about exploring blocky landscapes. it was a lot of fun. I miss playing Minecraft and I almost started it up last night. i have an old server I used to run that I wouldnt mind spinning up again on my Linode box. I saw some videos of Feed the Beast and do admit that it looks cool. I wouldn't mind giving that one a shot too. But once water hits next week, I can assure you that not even Doom 4 will keep me away from Rising World. Ofcourse the $60 price tag and the need for a new video card helps. :(

    Arctic,

I can definitely see mods coming that would generate alien worlds. I imagine if we have a mesa biome at some point then a red Mars desert would not be that much difficult to do :)

The boats still explode when you try and land? geesh. I haven't played Minecraft in so long I just assumed they fixed that by now.

The float block sounds like a good way to avoid getting into physics to determine if a custom-built boat will actually float or not. I imagines a floatblock some time ago which could also be used for floating islands or magical airships as well. E.g. mining "unobtanium" would allow you to create flying structure. Something for floating would be useful as well.

I think with the trains, an actual track object would have to be craftable in order to guide a train. I just hope that all objects will be scalable in the future. E.g. A gnome and an elf would have different-sized crafting benches, tools, and vehicles.

I noticed that as well xD I think it is because some people found this game when they were searching for Minecraft alternatives. And also because of some discussions here in the forums they expect Zombies etc. to be added. At least there are not many people who have tagged it as a Zombie game ^^

Ahh yes, the zombie dogs in Hell discussions are likely to blame.

Ok, that's very interesting and I guess the number of owned copies might have dipped a little due to a combination of people setting their profiles to private and/or some people requesting refunds.

Still that's good to know that combined with the non-steam sales we likely have well over 100,000 players :)

I imagine that some other stuff will be bundled in with water, e.g. some fish, a fishing rod, a simple boat, a bucket, and the ability to boil water for potability or crafting teas.
    But that's just my guess

I read something about frontlight lcd only working well with monocrome displays. I guess because color screens have a layer for each color so reflectinf light off it would not look well. Personally i am waiting for color e-ink with high redraw rates to become popular. They are getting better.

What makes my kindle easy to read is not the e ink but the front light, not back light. I wonder if an LCD monitor exists that is also front lit instead of traditionally back lit

I dreamed that I was a marine on Mars (I am excited about the Doom 4 release this coming Friday as well) and as I exited the base, I found myself in a more natural setting of Rising World. The water was added and there were lots of additinal biomes added. I was standing in an arctic biome with lots of floating icebergs and penguins and polar bears walking about. In the distance I could see a beach and a nearby swamp. The trees in the swamp reminded me of minecraft trees with the vines hanging from them. I hope when swamps come that we will have conifers like in Florida where I live.

Too bad I could not see Lady Dewinter's beach house or ArcticKitsu exploring the swamp on a water craft made of papyrus. If the thoughts were fresh in my mind before sleeping then I sure they would have.

I was chatting with Red last night about the water update so I guess the thought was in my mind.

Nice one! I heard that Christian Lorenz is actually a tallented pianist. I wouldnt know because his parts in Rammstein are not really that complex.

There was a troll on Friday sexually harassing other players. He got bannned.

    Arctic,

You go and carve your damn boat out of damn papyrus. I will wait to build my damn bamboo boat. Then I shall build a dam to cut off your damn water supply. May your damn manhole covered sewers run dry!!!

Meanwhile I am wondering if the lava in the realm of the damned will be updated as well.. perhaps we can make obsidean finally

I'm actually going to build that in my world, more so when we have some type of boat to make use of. Give me a canoe or a papyrus boat then I'll go full steam into making numerous canals, where appropriate. I also love how that canal appears :)

I want to stop harping about boats, yet they're necessary.

Atleast papyrus is closer to reality than bamboo! ;-p

So In a discussion post on Steam, I brought up how many members this game has. I estimated what I thought based on how many are members on this forum (2.5k) plus a larger number who are Steam only. A day later, I found this link from the "groups" list in Steam. I found a number over 80.4k !!! Does this sound correct? Whatever the Steam count is, I assume its higher because a lot of players did not buy this via Steam. Just curious. Does the count include everyone who actually owns the game or those who have it on their wishlist as well?
