i'm a bit impatient too. but i'm not angry about that.
surely, there are a lot of game in alpha that sucks, this one is going slow but well....surely, i'll not play if there is no survivalism...so i't a hard wait for me -

51 to implement your "dice rolling" aspect in the game (of course in the background only, not on the screen). This might offer a kind of hard core survival mode.
yes, food spoilage is great, could add a natural element of surviving, and the need of using procedures to refine food (smoke, salt, etc etc)

yes, it could be great....
for veg/fruit: pickled vegetables (oil or vinagre)
for meat/fish: drying or salt -
yes i'm agree. dangerous too could be attracted by big construction or by big quantity of gold or other metals

I hope we'll see roaming NPCs (not just merchants), but NPCs also on a survival manner tied to pulling players from other worlds into your world as NPCs wearing vanilla clothing, and such. Watching a Minecraft Let's Play has me wishing we would see roaming NPCs of other players (when customization sets in) so we can see them pop into our world. It be interesting to see NPCs of other players attracted to market stalls, anything shop related, and etc. Just seeing them come & go, yet curious to check things out by roaming man-made structures.
i'm thinking about it..yes it could be cool, but not many people, only few and often dangerous

good suggestions, but instead of degradation i suggest random broke
i hope red will consider the need of survival in this game....it's fantastic, but i can't play now without a real survival challenge
