A new update (0.9.2) is available now!
Latest Hotfix: 0.9.2.1 (2026-05-13)

It was 16 blocks originally but I've increased the range to 32 with the recent hotfix. Maybe we'll still adjust this a little bit (because 32 might be a bit too much) :saint:

I've got both cows/bull and sheep in a largish (way bigger than 32) pasture. Y'know, cow sized. But it looks like I'll have to move pairs into breeding pens if I want milk and babies. I do. However, the wild cows mooning from outside the fence are a bit much.

Also, I have been riding around my entire island and there is not a single Stallion to be found. It really is an Amazonian queendom! That's OK. This queen has the power of creation! Mwahaha! (Not that I need more horses, actually. )

AH!! I finally figured it out.

    Area tool: F5 #4:

Left click + Arrows and Page Up or down to set area

    BACKSPACE to reset tool

Delete key to delete selected ground area

or if raising ground hit right click to fill area with ground and select texture

select texture with mouse middle (roller)

Also F7 Remove tool resets with Backspace.

    I've written it down!

We have many textures we can "paint" on the terrain with the F5 #3 tool. Love this! However, I would really like to see a few manmade textures added to this tool as well. Specifically asphalt, or other concrete type surfaces. These would be useful for roads or walkways or large areas where we don't want to put construction blocks.

(I love the natural texture blocks, BTW. Those have been useful too!) And I just discovered the floating algae (or duckweed?) plant that you can place on water! How cool is that?! <3

Tool tips for creative mode. I would love to see more of this hinting system implemented for all the creative tools show up on screen. (Maybe with an option to turn them off if you want.) There are just so many different tools and ways to move/modify elements that it's super tough to just know or remember how to do the thing you need to do!

While I am at it, more types of flowers and colorful ground cover (smaller flowers). Perhaps smaller flowers could be implemented as "paintable" like the grasses.

Seems like signs cannot be edited once you have added your text and clicked, OK? Am I wrong? Could we have the signs remain an editable object?

I've been practicing. I can kinda, sorta get there using the F5 #2 "smoothing" tool and depending on the terrain making it bigger or smaller square (grid) or round and get a flat surface for the road, The terrain is hilly so one side will have a slope going up and one side will slope down away from the road. where the road turns, and also inclines, is a problem I am trying to solve inclines using big flat pieces of natural gravel. Seems like I can't really do a curve sideways with an incline---Maybe there's a way but it ain't simple.

I am ALMOST POSITIVE however the that the F5 #4 "area" tool used to have the function of both Adding/raising a flat section of terrain AND removing or lowering the terrain. But that is not possible now as far as i can tell. Tried every possible key combo. I THINK. I do notice that the mouse clicks and key presses are not consistent between the tools. With the #1 tool a left click adds/raises a round/square mass above the ground level and right click lowers into the ground. (Size of the tool controls intensity or how big of a mess you're going to make.) The #2 "smoothing" tool is just the opposite. Left lowers and right raises. (This may be consistent with the rake but isn't consistent with #1 in terraforming.)

However, the #4 area tool uses right click to raise the terrain on a flat plane above ground level, depending on where you put the level of the area box. Left click does nothing. Lowering the box doesn't lower the ground. I remember (I think and I can check an old video of mine to be sure.) That #4 in Java would lower the ground (make a hole the size of your area box) by right clicking and it would raise the ground if you had the box above ground. Maybe left click reset the area?

Also, when using the F7 "remove" tool, how do you reset or remove an area you previously set? I can't seem to find the right mouse click or key on that either.

(I am OLD and mind can't cope!) Having a cheat sheet or tool tips in the terraforming tool would be awesome. I think some hints are in there in the lower left corner (think you!), but more please!

I use mix of terraforming tools and hand tools. Sometimes its better to strike stone with sledgehammer, than trying to smooth it with brush.

It does take time and demands patience, if you want to create naturally looking landscapes. Often when ground looks too unnatural - few placed stones can fix it (the ones that generate naturally on map, not crafted). Just resize these stones, experiment.

I also suspect, that terrain editing is still not finished completely. Good example of it is 1x1 brush, which sometimes just refuses to work. Sometimes when I try to use it from other side of that spot - it magically starts working. So try to circle around spot a bit when you use small brush.

Yes, I do plan on putting in lots of rocks and bushes to hide the ugly bits!

For as long as I have been playing RW I still struggle with the Terraforming tools. They are mostly similar to the previous Java version, but with added features, which is all good, but ... I still struggle with 1. Remembering how to do something, and then 2. Getting natural looking results I can be happy about.

I find that I often just make a huge mess and then there is no quick and easy way to undo what I've done. Maybe I am mis-remembering, but I think it seemed easier to lower (or raise) the ground in an area. Building a road for example on a curve and a slope and getting something that isn't a lumpy mess is impossible. I have resorted to the new "natural" block materials to simulate a smooth slope or transition from one level to another, Dang. That's not easy either!

What we really need in this community are more tutorials! I think I might be a decent builder but terraform is not my forte.

So if you have used the terraforming tools to good effect, please post your tips, examples, videos of you doing it if you've got em! <3

I used to know how to type on a sign, but either my brain is a sieve (likely) or it's broken? I can't remember the steps. I have placed a sign, and I can see the pencil cursor. I have tried left mouse click, right click, middle, but I can't seem to get the typing dialogue window come up. What's the trick?

You can tell horse, and other domestic animals, apart in terms of gender by the models and their assigned names. When hovering over an animal, their name will show in the bottom left of your screen (under your health bar). Male horses will show as "Stallion" and females as "Horse", and other animals are also labelled similarly to tell gender apart. Also, females are flat on the underside / between back legs and males are not (rather noticeably) - this is the case for most male/female models (unless they have udders, in which case males won't have any).

Oh! Thanks. I did get pretty up close and personal. But I didn't know about the labels. I'll have to check that out. Could be I'm on an island of Amazon horses!

Wow! This is awesome. We've been waiting so long for item placement and now we got it. That excites me most. I have made a lot of little items to decorate with but having things in the game that we can put down AND THEN PICK BACK UP AND USE!!! is really great. (FYI: I've been playing a lot of Medieval Dynasty lately, and that's one of the features I really like. (Though the building scheme is not so great by comparison to Rising World.)

Questions about the animal breeding. Which animals are breedable at this time? I got the male and female sheep in an enclosure, so I expect to see lambs ... at some point? But also I have a pair of goats whose sex is easily discernable... but will the goat also give milk?) Maybe you said and I missed it.) However, I can't tell the horses gender at all. Will the horse models get "a makeover"? Also, I don't think there are roosters in game yet? I do have hens though and they drop PLENTY of eggs!

That they sleep now is cute. The bunnies don't sleep, they are just skittish all the time. It's too bad the animals don't run into the barn when it rains. they just sleep out in the puddles, ha.

Imagine my surprise and delight when I saw that we can also now roast ears or corn and potatoes! We can put a real meal on the table, hurray!

These were my own attempts to make woodworking tools for my boatbuilder's shop. I can add a few real tools to this now.

I did see that in a chest the thumbnails for blocks are messed up, and in the crafting menu the thumbnails for the window frames are also stretched and in chunks (messed up!).

Otherwise a wonderful, and unexpected update! Thanks, Red51.

If I was not able to loot all this stuff then I don't see any point in exploring. Looting is one of the key features why survival games are popular at all.

True. And it may just be too complex for Rising World, but if there was say some penalty for looting "too much" (everything from everyone) like perhaps extra ferocious attacks, or more frequent attacks that might be pretty cool. Also I don't think the bandits can actually "bandit" your stuff. Seems like something that needs fixing! But then I usually play creative so ignore me! Red has been great about letting us customize so much, so having a user setting for banditry and looting might be something he'd do.

I had to go look to see how it was done, as I couldn't remember. Both lights are the "rotating beacon". The bigger light inside the lighthouse is inside a luminous sphere both colored white. There isn't a way to control the speed, but if you enlarge the light, it creates an illusion of rotating slower. You can enlarge it up to 2x in survival, and in creative I think there's really no limit. (But maybe 5x ?) I think it's the sphere that makes it more convincing as a lighthouse light. I just could not figure out any other way to make a Fresnel lens! The lumious material doesn't throw light so you do really need a light inside. If it isn't turned on when you place it, you can turn it on by touching the collar around the bottom.

I have done the worm hunting with the rake during a rainstorm ... and there aren't many worms for me (temperate zone). Just two after many spots digging. So maybe up the number a bit?

But here's my more important issue: the rake does make holes or lowered terrain with raking, and it's kind of annoying when you don't really want the lowering to occur. Perhaps we could have a different tool for digging worms, or and different setting or key command for raking without changing the ground depth? I know I can go back and raise it, but I'd rather not have to. For now, I guess a pit outside town will need to be my worm farm!

I just test drove the update, and that you the fishing is fun. I was also able to pick up two chickens and a hare. They are in my workshop right now so I guess the next task is building a chicken coop and a rabbit hutch. The chickens are content, and laying eggs on the floor. The Rabbit is pretty nervous!

I'm not running around in my undies anymore! Also the lightning storms add some nice atmosphere, too.

Game is running fine for me.

    Thank you, Red. Great update.
