i was thinking something along the lines of base materials. if a build uses 5 different textured wood blocks and 4 stone blocks you use the materials thats needed to make those blocks . things like doors and chests could be done the same way x amount of wood x amount of iron ingot and so on. i do understand the inventory limitations.

If taht would be so simple someone could just place a blueprint and use the sledgehammer + (later on) the crowbar to get material for less work and less material than if created at the regular work bench. Same for objects like doors, etc.

I also think survival-blueprints should be a thing. But its really not so easy to achieve. I think a ghost blueprint could be the solution. But you need exactly the stuff thats required to build the object. No shortcut with i.e. stone instead of blocks or iron instead of door, etc.

Survival-Blueprints are a topic for a long time. I remember loooots of discussions how to achieve that. Iirc the latest idea was to place a "ghost-blueprint" and then add material that you have in your inventory. Similar to Forest.

Background is that some Blueprints consist of thousands of individual parts, textures, etc. There might be the point when a blueprint has more parts than fit in your inventory.

Another idea was to combine the architects table with a storage box in which you can fill material and only if there are sufficient parts in it you can create the Blueprint. Problem with that is, that such a storage box would have to be superior to any other, making regular chests, crates, etc. useless.

    Not a easy topic

Turn off the grid and work with the docking mode. Activate it with the enter or return key.

Then use ctrl to hold the object in place and use ctrl +arrow keys to turn and move it into place.

Easier it is if you just place the beam with that gap and use a shorter beam to fill that gap

Maybe some kind of starter quest that asks the player to do the most basic things would be helpful. I.e. mine 10 stone and chop 10 wood. Then craft a primitive work bench and craft 5 simple stone blocks and 5 wooden blocks.
And then some detailled instruction with resizing, rotation, changing shape, etc. But PLEASE make it Opt-in/out. I hate this starter quest meanwhile in 7d2d. its so annoying, even though for real beginners its indeed helpful.

Yes. I'm sure. Just not the majority. Anyways... Once there is more to show and unity is the main game I'll happily promote the game wherever i can. And suggest it as alternative to other games of this genre

Depends on what you find entertaining surely? I certainly find RW, even in it's current state very entertaining - that's why I spend my free time on it. I could be spending my free time on anything else if I so wished. :P

Of course i do as well. But if you are streaming you might enjoy the game for yourself but watching you building stuff for several hours or episodes isn´t that much interesting. At least not for long.

it can´t be the "same" server. Maybe the name and the owner are the same but still its a different one. Owner might have chosen another provider or hosted it on another machine. Also Unity version definitely is more ressource hungry than Java version. Red said there will be more optimization.

Make some experiments with other servers that have a lower Ping.

In my humble opinion, if you want to support the game; play the multiplayer game, make YouTube videos, watch YouTube videos on RW and thumb them up, tweet about the game, follow JIW games on twitter and Facebook, post up on social media, create a fansite.

The game sells itself, but advertising is gold.

Give a man a fish (buy an extra copy of the game) and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish (advertise) and he'll eat for the rest of his days.

As long the sea (market) is not overfished (too many games/clones) by big fishing companies (AAA companies) and as long as no one is pouring hazardous stuff (troll posts) into the water or sabotaging the nets (negative reviews, shitstorm, trolls).

Id say that once Unity has a solid NPC AI its time for the community to spread the word and maybe also make bigger youtubers aware of this game. Right now its a great game for fans but doesn´t have much entertainmet to offer if you want to show it to others.

Kann ich dir so nicht sagen. Aber...
