As I said it was much better when the reason was keep digging you might get lucky. If I want to go to foreign lands it is because I want to go to foreign lands and want to experience a new setting - and not because gold is illogically in the desert just because it was a rare and the desert needed a rare (when IRL gold is found where water left deposits). Certainly it makes sense for unique flora/fauna/minerals in different biomes, but they need to make logical sense. You would not put zebras and lions in the artic just because they lacked a feline and equus.

That counts for you, not for everyone. The setting alone is not reason enough for most people to travel. The game is a huge time sink for creative builders but not for other play styles. Those who prefer to play survival or explore want a reason to go somewhere else. A need in order to advance. For now the game doesn´t offer much ofthese reasons, therfore it had to be artificial. I dont mind that too much as i dont need gold and aluminium for many things. I just hoard them and while digging for them i also get other ores. Its not a big thing tbh.

I get though what you mean. And i am sure the game will at some point meet your expectations in this regard :)

That is indeed what is happening. Kinda ruins the feel of gold fever knowing IRL it is found in california hills and in alaska wilds - but in RW it is only found in the south biome. Was much more fun motivation to keep on digging hoping to strike gold in the old version.

It is nothing now but illogical gate keeping.

It's a reason to travel to foreign lands and subject to changes in the future, when more ores and more content arrives

Not enough keys, i get it. Maybe alt Gr? But i think it's a German key, not available internationally.

is there a difference between left and right ctrl key maybe?

or maybe a key that is toggling the function of either shift or ctrl key

wait youre saying its possible now?

    Yes and no.

    1. With the blocks we have er hab cold everything. Even ships. But they are not able to move

    2. Some small boats are already in the game.

    3. What you asked for is technically impossible yet for today's hardware. Imagine a huge ship, made from thousands of blocks, and the game would have to calculate each voxel and its position again and again while you steer it across the ocean. not to mention the information stored for each block how is connected to other pieces, the size, texture, etc.

That's an insane amount of calculation

But there is hope and the dev is working on that.

Premade modules that you can individually put together to create your own ship or boat.

    It's in the making ;)

+/- adjusts the grid in binary steps. Simply instead of one block grid use half block grids. This allows you to snap to centers, or even smaller grids if you want finer control.

that only helps in some cases. if you use a block i.e. 0.25 x 0.25 it won´t help you. neither if the block is i.e. 0.57 x 0.93

But in my opinion the grids biggest use is to start a building in allignment with the world direction, so you are not building diagonal. But aside that i see almost no use for it other than causing confusion. Most people it helps in the beginning as its more Minecraft-like but once people discover the magnet function and free placement possibilities they take the Grid as standard and get confused when grid-system and magnet-system collide. They think its a bug in the game and get annoyed. And instead of learning the awesome building system of RW they keep using the Grid because its the path of least resistance, but they do get frustrated because they are not able to create the really detailled buildings and constructions of others.

I see the grid as a kind of learn-to-walk-help. But once you can walk you should not rely on it anymore.

I know that others, i.e. Deirdre, still use it and are true masters in building, though i admit i do not know how and to what advantage they use it.
