Ah, I missed his reply above from a while back. However, it is not on the actual roadmap yet (https://trello.com/b/t5Leypcj/rising-world-development) and I imagine gliders would be a lower priority to animal mounts, cars, larger boats, and the potential trains.
Oh, that's weird So after adding a player, it first works, but stops working after a server restart (or if the player disconnects)? Do you maybe have a server log you could send me via PM?
That seems to be what's happening. I've had one player disappear twice from a couple of claims, but the first person added is always retained. Another player or two have been removed once but seem to stick the second time adding them back. Only on claims with multiple people added to the permissions.
I'll send you our last two logs...not sure how it would appear in the logs.
Small bug with the area protection system. It seems that sometimes when I add additional people with permissions on a protected area that they sometimes disappear from the claim after logging out or a server restart, and only the first person added to the claim is kept.
Hi red51,
I know at one point you had said there was more planned for the area protection system. I am just wondering what is planned and how it will work?
I am hoping that in the future it could be enabled to more automated to claim areas without the need for admins to do it for players on servers. As it is currently, it takes a lot of time and effort for admins to setup a protected area for players, only for players to request a few hours later that they want to move their area, or its too small, or they want their friend added to the area, etc., which is consuming all of our admins' time.
Maybe some kind of system where players can craft a land claim deed and use that to claim a chunk of the world, and then be able to add their friends and manage permissions themselves. And if they want to claim more land, they need to craft more deeds. Then if server owners want, they could set up the starting inventory to start players off with however many deeds they want.
And to prevent abandoned claims, maybe they can auto-remove if the player has not been online in a certain amount of time, 30 days or so by default. Though it would be nice if some could be marked for "historic preservation" by admins if they have significant builds on them.
This would be a huge time savings for admins. And better for players when there is no admins online to make a protected area for them.
Thank again for making such an amazing game! I know you're probably overwhelmed with feature requests and bug hotfixes right now.
There's a lot more than just rotation though...how would it know what information to display to you without cluttering up the entire screen?
There's rotation, resizing, modular snapping enable disable, grid enable/disable, radial menu (C), hold left click and drag, hold right click to hold in place, backspace to reset rotation, shift and backspace to reset block size, right ctrl to lock the block in place, ins while looking at another block to copy it, +/- on the numpad to resize the grid, and many other features. Why would it only show information for one possible change (rotation)?
Also, once people learn that the arrow keys and page up/page down rotates the blocks, having this information on screen at all times would no longer be necessary and just useless clutter.
Found a bug: The server didn't seem to know how to desync a row boat being destroyed from the world after being hit with a hammer while the player was underwater. This seems to be what caused the server to crash.
Attaching the last bit of the server log.
Edit: It may have been when the player was hitting the already destroyed leftover bit of the row boat to try to get rid of it.
Most ore is down below the +64 level, so below the water level which is at +90. Press F3 twice to see your coordinates on screen.
It seems to be the smooth tool creates the hollow bit underground when there's grass and it doesn't know how to smooth it out...
Finally managed to get the black screen spot to go away by adding and removing land until the glitch disappeared.
The smooth tool seems to create another hollow layer under the surface and then the top surface becomes uneditable.
I tried to fix this with the add tool to fill it in and something happened to where now whenever I look towards the ground in a certain spot my screen completely blacks out.
It's beautiful
Thanks! The Java world is almost six years old at this point.
Very excited to launch the new Unity world when the update is released this week!
And today I added a conservatory onto the back side.
I did some work on the kitchen interior today with a cooking fireplace, scullery sink, and large marble table. Also finished the front exterior with roof, chimneys, dormers, and the balcony above the entryway. It's coming along so nicely.
Here's a house I've been working on, loosely inspired by some Dutch mansions.
Nice work. I would love to see player-owned vendors that they can stock with items for sale/to buy. Would be awesome if it was an NPC that players could place in their shop or wherever with a craftable vendor deed, similar to the way it was in Ultima Online back in the day. Or like the shops in Eco with a buy/sell menu.
I truly love and appreciate all the work red51 puts into this game. Rising World has already been one of the most unique infinite-possibilities building games, and I think once the world gen update is released we'll see an explosion of people returning to the game. Just from the preview of the new version now, its evident that the game is going to be incredibly detailed, amazing graphics, and highly unique amongst the survival genre. There's no other game with the same building mechanics that makes it possible to build anything.
Not exactly a bug, but could be used to abuse things. But I have a player who discovered that its possible to blue print the iron ore rocks and place infinite copies of it for easy iron. They also discovered that you can blueprint tree saplings and resize the sapling blueprint to a bigger size and they then grow into massive trees. Not sure if that might cause performance issues if they create too many...
