A new update is now available, introducing fishing, climbing gear, clothes and more!
Latest hotfix: 0.8.5.3 (2025-05-09)

Going to add some more to the list, but to a different one in this posting only. This is something for me to track to see if they're worthwhile or not.... Whatever I approve of from this posting shall find its way to the above posting.

Looks like we're in for quite a treat in the long-term that it's neat seeing what's in.

What's new to me here would be crop failure that it has me now worried if we're going to be struggling 'Conan Exiles' style, or if it'll be tolerable like with Terraria. The mention of crops gaining diseases going to really become a challenging factor to things. The whole food things shall be interesting when we see it implemented that we'll have to adapt accordingly.

Cars - at least an offroad vehicle is planned. Just like trains, cars will be pre-made models, although they will be customizable (e.g. you can change the appearance, color, engine, transmission etc)

Yeah, but will we be able to build it up from the shell by adding customized parts onto it? Start with the shell to then add the parts onto it in the main world that you'd have vehicle garages build that it be like a factory type setting. I guess that's a "wait and see" approach.

    Quote

Boats - at least small boats are planned. We did prepare some big sailing ships as well, but we're not sure if they will make it into the game and if they will be controllable by the player or not. Maybe big ships controlled by pirates spawn randomly in the world

That's a tease with the "big boat". I do hope we get to see them then see if we can have them ourselves. I consider this a tease because it's one of those "it's so close, yet so far aware" type deals. Any chance for a sneak peak?

To both the vehicles & boats I'm viewing things in a Wurm: Unlimited & Ylands POV that it's has to be weighted + people will always build up to the higher thing. I'll take the "wait and see" approach that I'm also going to assume Red51 shall take. Just wait it out to see what's possible by seeing how smaller boats behave first.

Lastly, to the whole NPC village thing I keep falling back to the "tested & true" method of handling them: https://www.millenaire.org/wiki/Mill%C3%A9naire_Wiki

From December till June I've seen VR progress leaps and bounds that it amazes me with what we're capable of doing. It's awesome. I'm still proud of owning a Rift that I don't see it as a "novelty wearing off", nor as a "gimmick" that I'm going to keep going strong with it.

    - Rising World VR - Using ReShade:

    - ReShade: https://reshade.me/

    - Steam ReShade Colour Saturation: https://steamcommunity.com/app…ns/0/3559414588250527503/
    - ReShade Colour Saturation (Main): Rising World is now compatible with ReShade

It appears that we're inching gradually closer to being able to use Rising World itself in a VR setting that it's making me happy. Walter is having a blast experimenting with ReShade & Superdepth3d allowing him to view games in 3D, something VR headsets need to use as well (as seen in above link).

I also see Walter messing about with Rising World using ReShade as colour saturation & bloom that it gives it a more "juicy" & beautifully raw atmosphere to the whole game.

    https://steamcommunity.com/sha…iledetails/?id=1411548124

I honestly wish that this progress here can be used for the official Rising World VR where we can somehow be able to gesture our actions while also interacting with our environments in VR, VRchat & CyubeVR style. :D

Lol Arcticu did you see often 2 riders on the same mount? I am too much respectfull with horses to avoid that in real life (and in game)

Please don't do this.... I'm already annoyed with people mocking me for desiring mounted Mooses with you actually being able to do it in real life that I shared sources to that. Just go look at any Ancient Greek movie, Wild West, Anime, our when someone helps someone out that you can have two people on a horse. It's not ideal, yet it happens.

Hmm... can't say much about that... basically this would be a cool thing, but requires some work to change the models and animations for that... I definitely need a break from working on animation stuff

Yeah, you honestly do need a break/a Vacation to not burn yourself out. Again, it doesn't have to be now, but something in the future when things slow down, or something. Do your own thing though :D

It's also been said not to burn yourself out on the Steam forums on the topic of Steam Achievements that I do agree.

Something like that could be added when ropes are implemented Although it becomes difficult if you want to "attach" a donkey to a horse, for example, since the donkey cannot run as fast as the horse. Unfortunately changing the run speed of an animal isn't that easy, since it requires changes to the sounds and animations as well Unless we set up a restriction that your mount cannot run while another mount is attached..

Awesome. Make the fastest mount walk as fast as the slowest mount, that be ideal. I agree. Also, when posting this I imagined that you'd be holding on the rope with your hand, yet having it attached somewhere on the saddle would be interesting as well. Again, up to you and something for the future. It doesn't have to be now, yet something I noticed that should fill in the void sometimes in the future.

This would require us to have something like "personal horses", so only this particular horse actually listens to you. Maybe that would be a thing once pets are implemented In the meantime, this could by achieved by the plugin API (if someone decides to create a plugin for this)^^

Oh, interesting. Yeah, personal horses would be interested indeed :D Nice idea, and no rush. If someone does make a plugin that be interesting, but until then I guess I'll just be careful with my horse (my mounts) as to not lose them while having them nearby. I don't want to burn you out, yet wanted to suggest because of a noticable void that should be filled in at some time in the "far" future.

But thanks for the mounts. I'm having fun with them that they're really speeding things along now. It's awesome.

This isn't really a priority right now that it can wait for when it's ready......

    1) 2 Riders on horse/camel: Just curious if horses & camels (in the future) can support 2 riders on them (or 1 player & 1 NPC; 2 NPCs) for combined quick riding.

    2) Leading mount from mount: Something I can see sooner though is being able to lead mounts from another mount that it feels odd leaving a mount behind just to get another one. I'm find with for now, yet wondering if we can gain the ability to mount other mounts from a mount so you can take recently tamed mounts back, or to give them to a stranded person, or something.

    3) Whistling: If you're within render distance it be neat if you could whistle your horse nearby to come pick you up while also being a fair distance away to be a thing.

Just some forgotten thoughts that I'll note here yet not really expecting them soon because I'm happy with what I have right now. I need to settle in right now making stables and such. :D

    New Feedback:

    - Having issues closing and opening doors that it also seems to be a one sided thing. Only one side is able to register the door function
    - Barrels with 2 pages concerns me that I recall ever seeing one page. Barrels being given 2 storage pages is weird.
    - Love how the sand gets kicked up when you move about with the horse. That adds a nice layer of immersion that I love that small attention to detailing.
    - I had an issue where my horse would idle that it would just go to sleep each and every time that that 'drunksh0t' on my stream noticed this asking what was up that I pointed out it was a glitch because horse should only sleep during night. It kept doing it each and every time (image attached below). It also seemed to have fixed itself that after a rejoin, yet even when at the start of walking/sprinting with the horse it would jerk in an "I'm going to sleep" animation for a split second before realizing it's still active.
    - Telescope is a nice fun addition that I love how you can zoom into chunks you already see yet you have to be fairly close in some cases to see the finer detailings.
    - Horses now sound awesome that donkeys need an idle sound tweak to calm them down that they "whine" too much.
    - Donkeys are a nice 1 up on Minecraft that they're as fast as horses that no matter what you get everything is awesome. Donkeys in Rising world are the cute kind that I love donkeys in Rising World.
    - Love the thunderstorm effects in the game that I saw a few bright flashes. Would have been awesome in seeing a lighting bolt hit the ground, unless that's a very low/rare chance in game now. I also seen a 'misty' distortion that pixelated animal name tags that I'm curious what that was about if it was weather caused or not.

Thanks for the horse "whine" fix as well as the map fix. Love it! I however had some Tiger/Leopards attack me that it was frustrating not being able to attack them when mounted that I had to unmount to fight them with my drill. More leather for me.

I had to try it in creative mode just to see how these horses handle, and I love them. Waiting to play survival where the real fun shall begin, yet these are just my "quick thoughts".

    - I love how fast they are, and even faster when you hold shift to make them run. I see they don't have stamina on them.
    - Horses "whine" too much/too frequently, yet have neat sounds otherwise. (Someone noted this and I agree with them)
    - Saddles being slapped onto the horses is a nice touch. Same with how you can add the 24 slot saddle bag to carry additional cargo with you, something Minecraft now needs to learn from. :P 12 & 12, but it's 24 for simplicity sake.
    - Love how weighted horses weigh in game that they can also jump. However curious if they should jump slightly higher or if that height is intentional. Love how it "feels" when you ride a horse in the walking pace. Feels proper.
    - My major issue with horses is that they need some sort of "auto-run" similar to 'Skyrim' & 'Mound & Blade: Warband' where the former you press the 'V' button to toggle such while the latter you simply tap W or S to toggle pace up and down. For now it's fine, yet during travels it helps when you can type to someone without stopping, among other things.
    - You can't interact with objects when mounted, yet saw that it'll be changed later that I'm fine with this for "now". I'm satisfied with what we have now that it's more than enough.
    - Horses need to be able to "back up" by being able to walk backwards.
    - I'm amused by the riding helmet that it adds a nice touch

(Haven't tried camels or donkeys; May get around to seeing how they tick later on.)

Took a quick peak at the telescope that I'm loving it. It's a nice touch. I'll play with the rest tomorrow, yet what we have now is more than enough :D Thank you, Red51! I'm overly happy that I can finally build my projects some more with horses in mind.

I'm with Captain Cornball on this one as with this one for using 'Mounts' as form of early construction vehicles for when ready to implement various terrain altering features.

I'm even with Stickman for the construction vehicle, yet don't want to pressure Red51 now that we have the drill to dig the terrain. A 'Bobcat' (Skid steer loader), or even the 'backhoe' loader would be neat for Rising World.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backhoe

It all depends on what Red51 is able to tackle that we tend to have big projects to tackle in Rising World in survival mode. Also, I'm glad we have mounts incoming that I can't wait to play Rising World again to see people building outward in the map while using horses and such.

If it's not possible in the main release of mounts I do hope mounted combat becomes a thing after the update similar to how it's done in Skyrim & Mount & Blade: Warband. Well, the scenes you're imagining is a good sign that your love for Rising World is true :D

I also do hope we gain lances and pikes, among other long melee weapons I mentioned because of a certain character I want to create as an NPC.

Yeah, I agree with this that this is why I'm waiting for horses for this. We'll eventually gain wagons and such once the animations are tweaked for that.....

Well, in Minecraft modded you can use a dolly to move chests around that if people really need chests and crates moved that there should be ways to do it with storage related vehicles. Forklifts, dollys, and whatever else there are.

Alright, here's something "fun" for Waveshapr during those quiet times with Rising World on the music side of things. I've been meaning to share this for a few months now that I'll finally share it now while I noticed it again on my Discord. And for the record I stumbled across this video by random through Youtube's "recommended" when it happened.

Would it be possible to have some folk party music in that Medieval or Viking era style of things for Rising World in both a record form and for NPCs to dance around a campfire with? If it's possible that you should do whatever you feel is proper. But with anything "Fun" should be the backbone of everything. :D Just adding this because it makes one happy when dancing is involved of some sort (immersion) is involved.

They manage it just fine on Minecraft.

Well, you basically answered your own question & suggestion with "Dubbing Rising World for grownups". Red51 is trying to aim for realism that he's trying his best to make Rising World a survival based game as much as a building type game. The stacks of food being so low is because of "survival" & "realism" that he also wants to add food spoilage, preserving food, and all those nitty gritty survival oriented stuff, something you could also bypass by letting someone else cook or use a plugin to get around.

Sure, Minecraft has 16, 32, & 64 stacks, yet that's Minecraft. Minecraft is a whole different beast now, even if there are similarities between the two. Apples and oranges; they're both round, you can get juice out of them, yet one is an apple, the other is a citrus. :D

    ---------

    Onto the list:

    1) I agree we need rivers, yet that's something Red51 wants to tackle all at once with mention of a tropical biome having been worked on with coffee (source is on steam forums)

    2) I've been asking for books as well with FUNCTIONING bookshelves, something Minecraft failed on. You can't store books in bookshelving that we should be able to do so in this game. Books should also have that poster functionality with blueprints to be able to be shared between worlds.

    3) Cooking update later on, but +1

    7) Look up... It's for "survival" & "realism", yet Red51 is still trying to tackle this properly for proper survival gameplay. He needs future updates to fine tune this properly.

Looking back at my suggestions & requests I'm aware I've requested many "odd" things, yet do keep in mind I'm also thinking modding side of Rising World and modding support, not just vanilla.

    - Moose Riding (Revisited):

With the whole hype for Mounts I'm 60% curious if we'll even be able to tame Moose, yet not really expecting it. I don't want my expectation bubble to be popped so it's more of "Please, do surprise me" type of request. It actually is possible to realistically tame Moose, yet for how temperamental Moose are people tend to shy away from that whole side of things that even the Swedish military couldn't tame them. They're too smart while understandably afraid of gunfire that they just want no part of "death". I was also challenged to show an actual real world example, and I'm certain I managed to find a few to show that it genuinely is possible to tame Moose on paper, yet it's something that comes down to quality over quantity type things. Only certain people are gifted enough to tame Moose that horses are just easier.

I've posted my thoughts here, yet sharing it here in slightly further detailing:
    https://steamcommunity.com/app…ns/0/1694920442961836806/

Nier: Automata Moose Riding (Easteregg/Side fun content):

Rising World is a great game, yet if we can have some fun "easteregg" type features similar to riding a pig in Minecraft, or a Moose in Nier: Automata then Rising World shall be an even more fun and worthwhile game to be enjoyed. There are already a few things like that on the clothing side of the game that I'm not knocking Red51, nor Rising World, just neutrally stating things. It's all about enjoying things big and small, regardless of "reality" & "realism". Also, it's a d*** move to mock people for desiring something as desiring a moose in a game when it's been proven in reality to be possible, yet not practical in quantity. If you can't have fun in a game then it's not a game worth playing, yet this isn't aimed at Red51 but the people attempting to troll others for having fun.

You can ride a saddled pig in Minecraft while using a fishing rod with a carrot on it that it adds amusement to the whole thing. Then you have Nier: Automata (Video above) where you have to bait a Moose to then surprise ride it around with you having full control over that moose. The thing is that there's still some small challenge to it, yet it's done in a fun way.

    - Swedish Moose Cavalry Experiment 1700's
    http://stockholm.headsaflameme…-experimented-with-moose/

    - Can't tell if real or fake, yet it's possible to tame/mount Moose:
    https://imgur.com/gallery/CrtCSHv

    - More "general" information that it's Difficult, yet possible:
    https://www.quora.com/Is-it-possible-to-ride-a-moose

I'm not really pushing for the idea as much as it appears, yet if it considered then it would be fun to ride a moose on the level of Minecraft's pig + Nier: Automata's where you have to work a slightly bit harder to tame & mount them over horses and such that it would really be worth the effort. Because Rising World is a game, a serious one at that you should have a mixed serious, yet comical fun to things that maybe you should sneak up on a moose in its blindspot to be able to tame it, or find a young calf to tame. Something slightly harder than horses and such.

To those that are able to play in VR should also have fun with 'Beat Saber' for the simple & fun side of gaming, something both people and game developers keep forgetting about. Simple gaming fun is what games were originally about that I love it that 'Beat Saber' stands out for being the funnest best game on VR for how simple, yet addicting it is. To try to compare it to Rising World elements one would desire to have fishing elements, or something to be 'casually busy' in Rising World as well to relax to have fun with. Beat Saber is a game going back to the route of "pick up and play" without a harsh learning curve.

    Beat Saber

On a side-note I love this track because it's genuinely awesome on its own + tying it the anime world of Scathach found in 'Fate/Grand Order' mobile game.

Simple gaming fun is what Nintendo is trying to do that people forget to take it easy, as with watching simplistic anime that they keep whining and harping for more "complex" games. You see 'Rolling Line' in the post above? That applies for "simple" gaming fun that it's easy to get into and have fun. it's highly creative that you can build a rail line to even drive on it. :D

Beat Saber gets my stamp of approval!

    Beat Saber Modding sites:

    http://beastsaber.com/

Monsters shall be dungeon only; Zombie dogs in hell only. Hostile human NPCs shall be pirates, bandits, and raiders that'll keep you occupied above ground.

Survival was said to have environmental effects + preserving food by smoking it, and such in the updates sometimes between or after the transportation updates. It's all up to Red51.

I was having a bad day that I'm thankful to Red51 that he posted this to indirectly cheer me up on my horrible day. I was being blamed for a lot of things that I'm genuinely happy to see & hear horses shall be a thing within the month of May, if things go right. This shall nicely encourage traveling far distances while transporting goods around the map that I'll be making use of horses with the saddle bags to carry stuff. Excellent!

Been waiting on horses to size up my entrances for three related builds that i can now complete them to Youtube them :D

restart the server or you will risk loosing work that you have done. sometimes ore will not pick up and with my new econo the credits do not save properly and some things will be missing after a restart unless you restart your server right after the error occurs. This happens to me every now and then. it has been happening lately to my server and the only fix I have found is a restart. The DB locks up and doesn't record.

I've restarted it a few times from when that happened that I waited for the red text to disappear before I restarted. I noticed it stopped spamming so I felt it safe to do so from where I had Joni's cousin join the server. There's 2 restarts there..... It then spammed heavily + kept trapping me & Joni's cousin in one specific junk that even Joni dug through. Maybe it's related to that one chunk?

My server is hosted through Nitrado so maybe it has something to do with them, or similar. It was quite frequent last night........

I now have my suspicions that it's related to that one specific chunk of road........ The one in the image.

Was greeting by something strange where SQLite couldn't save that it spent 2-5 minutes spewing this message out.

With the added picture below. It seemed to have resolved itself, yet restarting the server just to be sure while also making you aware of this issue.
