A new update is now available, introducing fishing, climbing gear, clothes and more!
Latest hotfix: 0.8.5.3 (2025-05-09)

Mate, I don't comment on here often (or, in fact, at all) but you have to realise you're being a bit ridiculous about this. It's just a server, your actions haven't lead to anyone's injury - just a few lost hours. I hate to seem insensitive but, in the grand scheme of things, it really isn't that bad. Everyone's going to have to restart sooner or later anyway as old worlds will no longer be compatible. ( And, who knows, maybe your server will be even better this time)

This. This posting was articulated nicely with what I wanted to day as well. Simple, and to the point.

Let's just have fun with Rising World without trying to kick dirt up into the air.

Well, from what was mentioned by Red51 it'll be a fragmented update with mounts (horses, camels, & donkeys) being up next; The one we're waiting for. Next up after that would be boats with NPC Dummy additions to the side, and then possibly trains by process of elimination.

Granted, Red51 gets the final say in this so what's coming out is subject to change by Red51's decision. I'm patiently waiting for horses that I keep daily refreshing the forum to see if they're releasing yet so I can let my players on the server loose finally without holding them back..... Maybe they're gone for good, yet time will tell. Horses though, that'll change a lot. :D

I'm still hoarding my iron at around 2,084 pieces from what I recall counting stockpiled for trains.

Cornball, please..... Don't panic. Just work it back patiently & properly. People are also probably waiting on the next mounts update + the boats update after that. Just try and mend the situation as calmly as you can.

Still getting my Rift headset troubleshooted with how stubborn it's being. I'm still furious over the software with how janky it is, yet it is what it is.....

I'm wanting to spotlight 'Rolling Line' for those that have a VR Headset in this community. You can play it in Desktop mode/PC Mode, but only if you hide the SteamVR panel somewhere to the side of the monitor. It's really intrusive.

    Rolling Line:

    Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/754150/Rolling_Line/

Build your own tracks and scenery or explore a huge pre-made model railway set in New Zealand in virtual reality and on PC! Build, organize and drive trains in human scale, or explore the world on foot in miniature!

    --------------

Rolling Line is a train-sim Toybox hybrid game for the VR where you can drive a train while building the terrain around it. You can do whatever you desire by building tracks the way you want, placing trains in the way you desire, and etc. You can drive trains, change the tracks, as well as change the train types with their carriages. It's a neat game that has standard VR controls while going into the addictive side of detailing. The train feels weighted (Train Sim World style, nearly) that it's a blast to take command of.

In VR you'd be able to tilt your perspective by leading your head in the cab that it be neat to see what's ahead. The downside however is that the SteamVR tends to run obstructing the view that the developer seems a bit "grumpy" about not fixing this that he would repeat himself three times over on that matter. Great game, yet feel there's some slight miscommunication & anger going around in the development side of things. 90% Happiness, yet 10% crankiness.

This game gets my seal of approval

This is a hybrid thread of both the game & the drama which ensued after.

    Welcome To The Game 2

    Quote

Welcome to the Game II is an atmospheric horror / strategy / puzzle game that takes you into the world of the deep web in search of the shadow web. Play as an investigative reporter trying to solve a case of a mysterious woman broadcasting for help as masked men are on the hunt to kill her.

    --------------

    Game Thoughts:

Well, this game does great for being an awesome horror game on the survival side of things with attrtion. You sit at a computer trying to make sure nothing is going to kill you by scouring the web on your computer. It's a hybrid game of multiple elements, including free-roam. It's trying to get down the right balance of seeking out codes to avoid threats to save a girl on the deep web while not trying to get killed in the process. It's mostly straight forward horror stuff, yet very unforgiving that it leans into Japanese RPG territory of hard. You have to thread the needle so hard that people are obviously raging, yet I'd suggest Twitch streamers to try it out for the fun of it. I find the mechanics neat, yet the whole stress isn't for me. It's a 50/50 for me, yet I do respect the game that I respect even a 60-70% score, or whatever it has.

It has loud RNG Jumpscares, highly graphic content (can be censored), and other crazy features planned. It's your standard fair, yet it's being blown out of proportion by Markiplier and other gamers...... Toxic fanbase trying to make it worse than it actually is because people follow that tribal mentality.......

More in the spoiler for "Dramatic" or "heated" content:

    Markiplier Rage Part:

I'm hoping I worded things the way I wanted, yet feel I may not have articulated my wordings as much as I should have. More so with language barriers & "Lost in translation" for those reading in another language.

    Awesome. Welcome back :D

This time try and have fun with Rising World because that's what we're here for. Let's have fun :D

Alright, I guess I'm the only "active" VR users, yet there have been those that posted before on Steam and such. You guys are making me appear silly, or maybe it was a request I made previously to stay on topic that you guys fear I may snap on you again. If that's the case then I guess we tend to clash a lot over "randomness".

    (The good)

I just wanted to note something for those that wanted "food for thought" to check out something actually important that it's easy to miss when you don't care about something (Not paying attention) that you should watch 'Sword Art Online anime season 1 & 2, Ordinal Scale movie, as well as the airing 'Alternative' spin-off to see how VR games go when compared to our reality. View my second posting for Klein's quoting about the state of VR in VRChat SAO map. If you're bored one day just give Sword Art Online anime a go (regardless if it's a "crappy" show or not because that' subjective) to see how VR is portrayed.

The way you see it in 'Ordinal Scale' is actually quite interesting because it also ties VR to Pokemon GO type deals, as well as merchandising that it may indeed be our future. Maybe not with Niantic partnered with VR technology, but someone actually genuinely worthwhile we can have fun games with something called 'Augma' being similar to Google Glass type technology. I love Japanese anime because it parallels so close to real world it's awesome.

This is also a loose recommendation to Red51, Lucien, Waveshapr, and such on a more technical side of things of VR if they're curious + wanting to chime in on things. I'm looking at the technology side of that anime, even if the series itself is filled with feels (less so on the second half of first season; Second half of first season is a bit awkward in a rushed manner).

    (The bad)

Sorry, on the flip side of that I'm now feeling depressed because I poured $2000~ Canadian into being able to run VR that I may have gotten a defective Oculus Rift. It's not certain, yet the stupid crappy Oculus Rift store application claims my sensors are out of wack that it also won't boot up my headset. Something small and stupid happened that I'm all bitter, depressed, and defeated that I just may be KO'd for a little while that I may have caught some sort of "bug" from watching Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale movie.....

That 'Oculus Store' application is so useless I had to force it into only turning on in 'administration only' + how junky it is that it may be the cause of my problem here. Rift doesn't care about their home application that Steam is far more supportive that it's a bit ironic there that it makes me furious. I want to kick those that made the 'Oculus Store' for taking things for granted..... This is why we can't have nice things because of lazy practices......... I'm trying to re-calibrate/mend the issue that it simply loops me around that I'm unable to really fix the issue. It won't allow me to fix it......

I'm feeling so depressed that I just want my VR headset to work that I feel I've just been purposely stepped on negatively so I wouldn't have fun so others could have fun... I could be wrong again, yet I hate when things go wrong....... I feel so deflated....... VR is where the future is and I want to have more fun testing out 'Tales of Glory', among other games. Rising World needs to borrow from 'Tales of Glory' combat wise, yet allow for seated play as well......

I feel so "crap" & deflated that I don't know what to do........ ||

I +1 this because we need something for this naturally that it's in almost every game like this. Not all, yet nearly. For those that don't have Discord, or randomly traveling would enjoy this that it should also be regional.

Wurm Online/Unlimited has this, as does Conan Exiles, as well as Minecraft in text to speech manner. Even ARK.

Tales of Glory also gets my highest respect as well for the whole attention to detailing and combat side of things. I just love how your gestures dictate the whole combat that your enemy reacts to it in some manner. It's so realistic that I just love being able to swing in various ways that you can get a good old fashioned sword battle going. You can use whatever weapon you desire that you can fight in your own combat style. I love being able to weild both a spear/lance & a sword for both long and close combat while parrying the enemy's attacks. Now, having a combat horse come at you is a bit terrifying in VR, yet it's fun heh.

Just imaging this sort of combat in Rising World, I do wonder if this is even possible. I wonder if we'll be able to get to this sort of combat style in Rising World. Probably asking way too much of Red51 that maybe I should stick to these games instead, yet ......... Just imagining Rising World with this combat gesturing + holding your hand in the air to rally your troops is awesome! THIS is how you do VR games! :D

Tales of Glory gets my stamp of approval. Try out the demo at the very least!

The state of VR! I'm hyped!

    Quote

I'm not familiar with Busou Shinki I'll have to swing by your channel to see what your talking about.

Unless you're in the anime realm I wouldn't expect anybody, yet I still do mention anime things because of Google. I'm not saying this bit in a rude way, just that I'd expect people to get curious to Google to see the basicness of things. My bad.... Late at night posting does that to me.

Also, your way of handling clothing dyeing is interesting. I support any form of customization. editNPC height would also work, yet having a slider bar for height may work? The scale sliders could work here for NPC heights in the 'editnpc' or whatever the option is now. It's been awhile.

I would really love walking into a living cityscape, even if it's dummy npcs. That be awesome.

Red51 noted that we would be able to tweak NPC heights that I hope we can still get around to do doing that so I can gradually start creating characters from the 'Busou Shinki' line, something Konami killed. I have one already ready that I just need to tweak her to 15 cm tall in Rising World while waiting to see if Red51 shall support external outfits in the similar manner to blueprints and posters in a folder.

Well, it seems I'm anticipating the horses update so much that I'm dreaming about Red51 releasing an update that doesn't deal with mounts & trains, but something a bit after that. He released some sort of update in my dream.... maybe it was the construction blueprint update, or something..... I guess it's that time again where I"m restless for more Rising World updates with horses/mounts being the next on the list.

Trying to keep myself in check by playing VR games.

I'll add Subnautica onto that list once the developers get their act together, or when they can properly pool their resources properly into the VR scene. All the games I found interested have been noted in the main post, and it shall be updated with new games whenever I can find proper games to have fun with.

Also, note the funny quote someone added into the VRChat Sword Art Online map heh. It puts things into perspective.

I felt this was necessary because we're now in the age of VR games while also waiting for Rising World to go VR as well. Red51 noted Rising World would go VR, thus the VR hype, just that it'll take quite a bit getting there. Also, Steam has a lot of junkware that we also need a list to see what fits with Rising World + what may also be fun games on the side here. I'll start the list off with VRChat because it shows what VR is actually capable of to then add things as we go. I'll update the list whenever I find anything worthwhile.

If you notice any games of interest please do share as well. I'm curious; Other people may play it.

Don't be shy! Please feel free to share any games you deem worthwhile. However, do note that I'm adding actual proper games worthwhile of your times that I also put this together after seeing so many shoverware/junkware software on steam.

    (Last Updated: May 10th, 2018)

I'm wanting to show you something that's been done so awesomely, yet undone by something silly. It's awesome, yet treated so strangly that it leaves a horrible "aftertaste" lingering that this is not how you want things to go. The game is called 'War Robot VR: First Strike' that it's a VR 'tech demo' trying to hype you up to the point of playing a crappy mobile game. Maybe the mobile game is awesome, just that I find them lazy because that's the easy way out into making games. The controls for the game feel perfectly weighted and solid that you look around with your headset that it has some delay (weighted) for mecha simulation purposes. You aim by looking in that direction to then use the left and right trigger to fire weapons.

    - Homepage: https://pixonic.com/en/games/war-robots-vr
    - Steam Page: http://store.steampowered.com/…r_Robots_VR_The_Skirmish/
    - Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pixonic/war-robots-vr

The game is only about 5-7 minutes long that I would love an actual proper mecha game out of this. THIS is how you make a VR game where you actually feel like you're there while making high enough use of the VR devices. THIS is a good way to make VR games, just not the cheap tactic of using it to sell "crappy" (subjective) mobile games that you'd leave the VR community alienated and insulted that they're then forced to (re)play 5-7 minutes of a demo, something I've shown in my video above.

The developers wanted to use 'Kickstarter' to fund the multiplayer side of things, yet failed because they slacked on posting updates + didn't really do much. They expected to be magically funded that they should have instead used Patreon for the sleeper funders to have the game funded. We (gamers) want this sort of detailed game, just that someone experienced has to tackle this type of field..... How I wish we'll have a Mech Warrior and Gundam VR game........ I'm both happy and frustratingly pissed off about this whole demo because it's perfect, yet needs to be expanded so much..... This is what VR is capable of, and much MUCH more (view VRChat for more).

Just a loose posting noting NPCs now that we have dummy NPCs

    - For "if" & "when" we do gain actual NPC companions (or helpers) that their assistance should be similar to what's in Dragon Quest Builders + Stonehearth. Their help should come at being fed food & water + tools degrading that you'd need to keep making new ones for them (less so if they're modern tools where they'll need to be repaired).

    - NPCs should have a leveling system that they'd specialize in some things, less so in others. Some would be better lumber jacks while others be better fisherman. It may feel appropriate to have naturally, as well as set things up plugin wise as well.

    - NPCs should seek out beds, sitting areas, and etc. This was noted, yet posting here because I'd love to see immersion with NPCs that I want to see them interact with the world like a player.

Sorry Red51, can you also make these NPCs spawn via a book item whenever ready in survival mode? Console commands are neat, yet I keep being asked if I can enable console commands to my server players that it be neat if we could have something "lesser" for those lower on the ladder of accessibility. Or maybe we can somehow tie this in with a plugin..... I guess until that happens I'm going to have to figure out how to fiddle with NPCs while wearing their clothing per request.

I'd be surprised if you got this joke that it may require a Google search....

"Look! The east is burning red!"

    ----

Well, I'm loving how we have more control over these NPCs that I love how you can name them, configure them, and such. The GUI works nicely that I wish it was more of an item related spawning, yet this works. Maybe a plugin could be made survival wise, or something, but until then I do love the GUI in this. The old NPC I had before disappeared while the ones I spawned in recently stayed there. I'm clocking them to see how long they stay. I guess each NPC update shall reset them that it's best to simply leave them there for experimental purposes. I spawn the NPC in, I lock them in, then I customize them, and then just let them be. Their names registers them as players that you can see where they are that they give me a smile for when we gain actual NPC Companions. We're so close now!

The only gripe I have now is that we can't change clothing appearances yet won't pester Red51 for that because there's a lot on his plate. It be nice though, and I guess it'll come with time so I'm just loosely mentioning that I'd love an outfit portion of the GUI, unless I'm somehow missing it.
