A new update (0.9.2) is available now!
Latest Hotfix: 0.9.2.1 (2026-05-13)

Alright, I see a lot has been done on my server, yet some I can't share quite yet because of it being in a 'WIP' state. I still want to partially open up my server to people, yet still feel uncomfortable doing so. I haven't even tweaked with the permissions to allow standard users to simply 'ghost' around. I still do plan to partially open it up, only allowing trusted folks to play. If I know you play fair, you'll be in.

    ------------

    - [0.8.2.4] Brisko Village - 'Triangle Dirt Shelter', (WIP) Canadian Tower, Lumber Cabin, & 'Canadian 50's Diner:

I felt that it was time again to share some more goodies as enough builds were completed. They still need tweaking, yet being able to post them as they are.

    • Daboiye's Farm: This one took me by surprise when I was simply following a pathway to get it marked on my map. I found Daboiye's 'massive' farm with a lot of goodies growing within. Quite an eye-catch that I love it.
    • 'Canadian Tower': A tease-view of the Canadian Tower being built up to celebrate Canada's 150th birthday. Still working on it, yet you can see it gradually reaching higher in the sky in a proud manner. I also spent this posting day's session reworking the courtyard roadwork. Need to decorate it. Been tweaking things with it on and off while working on something other.
    • Lumber Cabin: A building rebuilt from Niska Village (older world) in this world to hold all my logs, lumber, and any wood related goodies. It's even a basic make-shift crafting area to work with. Anything tree related, it goes in there. It's a modernized historical structure modernized in Brisko.
    • Lumber Cabin (interior): A bit of a walkway with a stairway leading to an upper balcony type thing. A place to view out, if you so desired. The upper walkway could also hold a few barrels, something I've slowly started to do by placing barrels up there..
    • 'Triangle Road Shelter': I have no fancy name for this, just that it's a shelter along the main road heading towards Brisko, as well as sheltering anybody heading the other way. It's simply meant to gather dirt, something that's precious in this game. Even planning to make a corn farm as a memento for me harvesting corn in '7 Days to Die' with two friends. There's trees now growing around it, yet this is the best 'clear' image I have of it.
    • 'Canadian 50's Diner' (upper): On the upper floor of the diner to give it a bit of that 'restaurant' feel to enjoy a nice cool night in the desert. A nice desert tropical touch, something I'll enclose with some sort of simplistic roofing. Cooking some chickens, something Red51 gifted us for a 'Canadian thanksgiving' a few years back because turkeys weren't around. Those chickens are MASSIVE! As big as turkeys. I must thank Machette for supplying the 'Animal Breed Master' plugin because I can breed chickens to supply my restaurant with. Wanting to also farm up pigs, cows, and the bunch also.
    • 'Canadian 50's Diner' (Interior): The inner view to 'AFK' at safely while eating a meal, to sit & rest, among others. Tried to make due with an awkward design, something I'm surprised came out nicely, or "well enough" to enjoy. Eventually going to add NPCs to sit, trade food, and etc.....
    • 'Canadian 50's Diner (Exterior): The outter view of what was supposed to be a modern restaurant, yet turned into a Fallout 4 themed build. A retro Canadian 1950's themed diner that it shows in the name. It's my Rising World Canadian themed build with that touch of Fallout for tribute in a desert wasteland. Hilarious.

Well, on July 1st I'm going to try and show a video, as well as the finished 'Canadian Tower' so I'm looking forward to that. Hoping to get that tower done, as well as some other side projects. I really want to get this Canadian Tower done in time so I can try and make a video (software willing) to share with you all. it's my pride and joy in this world that I also can't wait for NPCs so I can start populating my village to make it more awesome. Even having horses to speed things up, to further supply my settlement, among others. My builds are considered 'finished' (image sharing manner), yet they still need quite a bit of polish to make them genuinely completed. Things like proper decorative, railings, among others.

If you want to join my server then you must be good friends with zfoxfire, Daboiye, & Harv. I must trust you for you to join. Blame all the griefers & drama queens from both Minecraft & Rising World side of things. If something doesn't make sense then I posted this when I was half asleep.

To add to this I've been losing cactus saplings into the ground of the desert that I could have easily replanted more. Saplings tend to fall through the ground, or anything when it frequent quantity. As Xalzia mentioned, it wasn't ground breaking that I didn't make note of it. I was going it, yet haven't felt the need because it didn't feel "that special", or anything.

(Edit: Also, block ID 21 & 22 refuse to be IDs as blocks on the bottom left.)

The last update was exactly two months ago tomorrow, the time period between updates varies but for an update the size of player models with all the crafting stations to make the new items I would expect no less than three months.

Though as the steam sale is coming up (most likely on Thursday or Friday this week) a small update or an image preview would give a good incentive to people to buy Rising World in the sale :D

Gotta quote you because of that opportunity to get something out for the Steam sale coming up soonish, something Red51 seems to want to do by saying "few days" type thing. I hope it's in the next few days because I'm figuratively dying here for something. Needing something fresh for motivation.

I'm thinking about splitting this update into several parts, this would make some parts available earlier, and also bugfixing would be easier It's always a pity if updates take "too long", especially since this also holds back other changes and bugfixes that were done in the meantime, but in this case I'm sure that the result will be worth it.

Makes sense. Would explain why horses & camels are in the update after, yet from what was mentioned I'd at least get the NPCs in the creative form eh? Being able to size them and customize them to gauge what's possible, and what's not. To see what plugins could happen, and which can't on the level of exporting exterior clothing sets into the game via plugins, or however it works. Their function side (digging & bodyguarding) of things though, that be much later down the line with the hostiles from what's being noted. I'm fine with that, yet just something to stop me from being restless would be nice.

Well, I can't wait to be blown away by the preview images, as well as the clothing types we'll get. Oh, I need to quench this curiousity so bad that it's just making me truly restless.

Alright, Red51 is probably going to kill me for constantly bringing this up but there's this new game that mixes Minecraft with Stonehearth type gameplay. Even Timber & Stone, but Minecrafty that I'd love to see this form in Rising World. It has what I want in it that I have to bring it up, but putting it in the FTB Turtles thing because of how these NPCs are tasked in a similar manner to FTB Turtles.

    --------------

    - Colony Survival:

Colony Survival is a Minecraft-Stonehearth-Timber-and-Stone type game where you try to get a settlement established to survive the elements. You try to build up a settlement with the basic resources to turn your settlement into something grand, yet every night monsters come attacking you to put your settlement at risk. You have to have food for your settlers, as well as a bed for them to survive in.

    Steam Page:

    http://store.steampowered.com/app/366090/Colony_Survival/

    ------------

    - What I Wish Red51 would note:

    • Being able to rescue NPCs from the wild so they could be recruit able to your side. It could be either randomly spawning camp sites, or in a bandit cage as a hostage, or something along those lines. Even a shipwreck on a beach, yet at a low frequency so you won't be over-run with NPCs to 'rescue'. If you can't rescue them then they should go to an NPC village in an implied manner, maybe even seeing them later.
    • Being able to converse with them in a VERY basic manner via text to join you. Ask them to join you, to trade inventory, and such.
    • Each NPC could have a 'flag' customized to them to tell them where they could put stuff, where to mine, and etc. Even placed on chests claimed for them. Similar to signs, but flags.
    • They would require food, bed, & storage assigned to them to settle in your place, or go elsewhere. (you have a lot of food that they can eat through. They would burn through your food stockpile)
    • Being able to cook for you, mine for you, farm for you, and even seek out desired items for you by pointing you in its general direction (if in its POV). Or just idle about....

When digging my road the past few days in anticipation for horses I once again desired FTB Turtles. I don't want to harass other players to help me build that I would need NPC assistance. People ended up getting offended with me when I constantly asked for their assistance that NPCs need to bridge that gap (Not in Rising World, but in Minecraft). People only have so much focus & attention that NPCs can bridge gaps. Even waiting for the next update to add that 'mining drill', among other things. You would put food & items in their inventory if you're going on a long journey, or else risk them dying. Put a flag on a chest so it could be claimed for the survival oriented NPCs. It would be helpful if I could task NPCs to do something I've had FTB turtles do for me by digging out columns of the terrain, and even flattening specific parts. Granted, we'd treat them humanely by keeping them fed, thirsted up, and well rested.

I would also love it if we could save NPC appearances into some sort of blueprint so we could bring them back up into our world. Carrying them from one world to the next, even with their skills that they may or may not have learned. If there is a skill system.

Sorry Red51, but when there's a demand there has to be a way to supply that. It's painful when one game has half a side, then another game has the other half that you need a way to merge those sides together. Rising World has one side, and Colony Survival has another side..........

[Keep in mind that the NPC I'm suggesting is something I view as 'ideal' for Rising World. One where they are themed in a RW manner, and not overblown into other people's desires of being 'slave NPCs'. I'm trying to request something balanced.]

Yeah, I'm now leaning in the 'Conan Exiles' side of things that we should gain a few varieties of desert trees to mess about with. I've been playing Conan Exiles again for some casual testing purposes that I approve of having desert trees. The cacti I have growing (in RW) actually behave as interesting fences that you could grow them to keep desert bears (it's an open world, yet it hasn't happened to me) away from you, or even bandits. You could prickle the bandits to death. Even make them prickly so you take damage from them.

Yeah, I swore that cacti stored water, and I'm glad you reconfirmed that. With that in mind there should be cacti types which you could crack open to fill up your water containers with as they (very slowly) regenerate water for you to survive on.

The 'prickly pear' is something that's catching my attention because you could farm up cacti for both water & food source. You could have an interesting cacti farm variety going on that it be interesting to see how people would live purely in the desert biome.

Seems like that's two votes (including mine) that wants to see cacti losing their wood ability, something I'm going to assume is only temporary.

Anybody that colonized the desert biome feel that the cactus is handy as a wood source, or should it be changed into something else? Should cactus stay as a wood source, or should we instead have desert trees for that type of stuff? Basically any desert tree would work, even 'this alien looking one' which is actually normal. I was low on wood related resources (lumber) that I had to convert cactus into lumber to build stuff, and I'm thankful they were around.

But what's your thoughts on cactus? If you have no opinions then I challenge you to colonize a desert biome by just making a house, some windows, and such using them. Make a farm, and then see what your priorities end up as.

I'm curious. Maybe as desert decoration, for cacti fruit named 'prickly pears' (like apple trees), medicine, and......... Yeah. Maybe food for animals, as well as a source of 'red' dye because of the insects that grow on them. Maybe Red51 has a plan because he implemented stuff which goes deeper than a simple Google search so that makes me curious what the future holds for cacti.

If unsure, or lost feel free to skim the wiki for the basics: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cactus

Having coloured glass is something I'm desiring heavily, with special thanks to Minecraft with those stained glass & stained glass panes. Wanting various colours of glass so I can start theming up my buildings to be more colourful as we need to build more colourful buildings.

My complaint with Rising World was how people were building in dull grey & white that we needed colour, and it's something I even praised some German lady for building in colour. That thought & desire faded out now.

Sure, I agree with this. Would be awesome to have generic mosaic windows, as well as rounded, edged, and various other forms of glass windows.

Mount and blade has a similar control function
and it's an interesting mechanic but it needs to have a dead-stop too

Yeah, Mount & Blade: Warband was the game I strongly 100% suggested to Red51 when I first brought up horses a few years ago. I hope he played it so he could see how horses should be treated because you can't keep pressing 'W" to travel far distances.

I checked out Kingdoms because it listed its horses seriously, and I'm actually genuinely impressed. I hope Red51 takes serious note of both Mount & Blade: Warband, as with Kingdoms.

It's going to be awesome to use leather for more than a drinking bag lol. I love processing it and I hope crafting saddles will be interactive and time-consuming!
I Also think that we should be able to ride horses without saddles, but would be more likely to fall off and break a bone. There's a thought! Breaking bones other than leg bones. While it does sound painful, it would be awesome to break a arm and not be able to use that hand till it's fixed. Or you could use it to "pick strawberries" at a reduced rate, but not to wield a axe, pick or any heavy tool.

I find horses frightening, but from the times I've managed to ride one, I've noticed they do have built-in cruise control.

Yeah, leather clothing, accessories for carts, and such. Do hope you can indeed craft saddles using hide.

Yeah, we should indeed ride horses without saddles. It can be done, yet it would be hard as writing a boulder. If you turn too quickly you should run the risk of falling, yes. Having to splint up. I agree with your penalty there.

Horses are freigthening because they're like kangaroos when they kick you. They're both stronger than us that one kick would hurt you to the point of near-fatality, or actual fatality. Imagine if you provoke a horse enough that it could kick you to death. Insta-death. Same with kangaroos.

Daboiye, I see you being funny, yet do hope you see where I'm going with it. They keep walking when you tell them to keep walking that it's helpful. I also rode a horse in Modra, SLovakia up on the ranch in the mountain and their backs are hard as a rock. Was fun.

So, I took a whirl with Kingdoms that it indeed has horses interestingly done that I have to note the following.

    • They roam around freely. They're wild, they run about, and they run away from you when they see you.
    • They prance & 'ney' when they see you that they then start running away from you. You have to chase them down, or time it perfectly when they stop to prance-ney to warn other horses to keep their distance.
    • The game (Kingdoms) gives you the saddle from the get go, even allowing you to press 'e' on the horses to 'insta-tame' them. You can then equip the saddle on them, even being able to access the saddle bag pressing 'e' on the saddle once equipped. (For Rising World I'd expect us to craft saddles from scratch, as it should be.)
    • The game allows you to whistle using 'q' that I love this idea of calling your horse to your last position. I wanted to suggest whistling even before 'Kingdoms' implemented it, finding it interesting timing for when it was added. I would love it if we could whistle, even have a whistle blower device to call horses towards you in the spot you signaled them towards. Not sure what key would be the whistling action, yet hoping it's easy to do.
    • The horse has some interesting controls that I think 'could' work. I did suggest some 'auto-throttle' mechanic for the horse so they could run at a set speed you control. The way Kingdoms does it is by tapping 'W' each step to speed them up, or tapping 'S' to slow them down. I'd say this control set-up could work for Rising World, yet may have to be tweaked in a way that's 'Rising World' specific as to not have anybody cry of plagiarism, or something. That, and it has to work smoothly. The way Kingdoms does it is still rough.
    • Horses run VERY fast that I fear they may mess with the render speed on the maps. I have a good computer (51/21 option (?)) that they can probably outrun the render if set to a high speed. Others may simply fall through the world on their lower end PCs that it has me curious how fast they should really go.
    • And yes, you can kill horses for meat that you can cook them up.

Horses bring about an interesting change. Even new difficulties.

    What.......

    *facepalms*

I also wouldn't kill a horse for horse meat in the game. Just doesn't fit my style, yet it should be an option. Should be sold, yet I won't kill a horse even if it's digital. I would pamper my horses wishing to have what Kingdoms has of being able to whistle them to your person, and etc. Whatever I posted in the quote & such.

Oh, the timing of that 'Kingdoms' game sure is something. http://store.steampowered.com/app/409590

They ended up being the 'first game' to add horses in this open world pool that it's yet to be seen if Rising World or Medieval Engineers adds in horses first. I striked out what wasn't horse related also.

This is the type of log I'd expect Red51 to make if he were to add in horses. Adding them into the wild, giving them variety/different breeds, being able to loot meat & skin off them (even though it's viewed as cruel), as well as giving them saddles. I find it amusing & curious how they added in the option to whistle so the horse would follow the player. The whistling is something I wanted to request a day or two ago, yet it got lost among the various things happening. Would be sweet to hear the horse shoe clanging on blocks, as well as whistling to get a horse in shouting distance closer to you. Maybe even yelling to get them to you.

Using the planks & beams plugin I'm certain I can make something like this. I could even use a black brick foundation to then use planks, beams, and the rounded one to make this.

I'd have to keep pillaring up with a beam with the current way Rising World does things. Who knows if it'll change in the future, thus why I brought this thread up. Just create a 9x20 foundation (or similar) then play around with planks & such heh. That, or just make it all out of planks & beams, something that should be easy for me now. Keep bucketing until you can get rid of the water underneath (within; basement), or something. I'd have to try this out later that I wish we had scuba gear, something we may gain in the next update or two.

I have a general idea on how to mess about with this.

Instead of making a new thread (as I always do), I'll just piggy-back these desired suggestions into this one because of how 'tiny' this thread is.

    ----------------

    - Banana Tree: I don't know why, but I desire banana trees in my game. Maybe it's a left-over after-feeling from having played 'Animal Crossing: New Leaf' (abandoning it & recalling it in nostalgia), or it may even be me hanging around Brisko too long on my server in a desert biome I desire bananas when staring at those tropical trees for too long. Maybe I'm going bananas from all the heat.

    - Coconut trees: Every time I gain a rare view of the ocean in game I simply think of 'coconut trees' for some reason. The desire is strong, and the game really needs it. I'd love to grow some coconuts so we can drink from it, as well as eat it. Coconuts should be in two phases of 1) machetting it open to then drink from it, & 2) Cutting it some more to shred it to eat the white stuff from it. Coconuts could probably also be used as projectiles during Medieval era because they can be pretty lethal  . No joke about lethality. Imagine growing a whole chest full of coconuts to knock bandits out 8o Canon balls for when you're rich; coconuts for when you're poor, or medieval.

    - Running Speed: The main reason why I'm posting wishing for it greatly. I've requested auto-run, yet it seems to be a low priority (probably for the player model & animation update). I also strongly desire a 'Medieval Engineers' styled running (or any standard RPG) of a sprint meter so we can run twice (or three times) as fast as we normally do. We should go three times the speed we currently run because that's still walking speed when you run. If I ran I'd be able to cut a 20 min trip into a 10 min trip. It's silly that we have to run at a walking speed when we can run twice as fast, have horses, bikes, or even other mobile devices in both Medieval & Modern era. Running should truly 100% be quicker than it currently is. It's a time waster.

Yeah, I truly want us to be able to run twice, or three times as fast as we normally do holding shift because it wastes so much time for something that shouldn't be that slow. :cursing: I'm actually genuinely 100% angry with the player movement in this game hoping it'll be mended in the next update, or the one following it. I'm itching for horses. Something! This is madness.

    - Backpacks:
Red51 frowns upon the idea of backpacks & such because the stacks we're given for items is intentional for realism. You shouldn't be going around carrying a stack of 64 watermelons, and etc. They're split off into 16s, 32's, and such so they hog your inventory. I however do agree with the idea, but only if it's a 'themed' thing for medical gear, food bag, and such that you can't put just anything in it.

    - Horses:
Horses & camels are coming after the next update once the main foundation is added. They'll be inserted, maybe even with boats. Who knows how they'll handle, yet hoping for 'Mount & Blade: Warband' controls (auto-throttling of a horse) where you can control the speed. Who knows if we'll gain different breeds, if they'll have horse shoes, and such. We're supposed to be able to add armour for them.

    - Colour Patterns:
I agree with this, even on a horse front. They need variety, and I want my arctic fox as a pet via the 'Animal Breed Master' plugin. Would love to tame it legit in vanilla later down the line also.

    - Feeding Animals:
Something for later once we gain farm animals, yet you can do this right now via 'Animal Breed Master' plugin found on this forum's plugin sub-forum. You can breed them, and etc in a survival manner.

    - More Trees & Shrubs:
I agree here. I'd love more colourful types, sakura trees, crab apple trees, and etc. Even banana trees, coconut trees and etc. Would be sweet. I've been craving for a banana tree lately for some reason, and it may be the fault of 'Animal Crossing: New Leaf', even though I don't play that game anymore.

    - Dyes:
I'm certain that's going to be with some part of the next update. Would make sense to tie it in with the clothing we're going to gain to survive the elements, as well as to customize ourselves with.

    - Custom Textures:
Go check out 'Planks & Beams' plugin that does this exact thing. I've added it onto my server, along with 'Animal breed master'. Best two plugins around!

    - Decorative Clutter:
That's something I can strongly agree with. We really need more "useless" things to have to decorate with, as well as turning silver into silverware, and such. Maybe into statues also, among other things.

    ---------------

In short: Yeah, these are coming. I can't wait for the horses to come, or even the camels, so I can travel to and from places quicker.

As someone else mentioned (Zork), I do hope Red51 decides to release either a preview or a content patch for when the steam sale releases so we can take advantage of it. Zork mentioned we should release something so people have something to look forward to in one form or another. Not to pressure Red51, just that there'd be something there.

Oh, how I'm itching for the player models & animation. I don't know what shall be in the main update now, or what shall follow, because I saw Red51 mentioning some information about splitting some enemy mobs into a secondary update with other stuff. Have to re-read this 'god-mode' thread on steam.

    Quote

    Red51 said:

Oh, this wasn't actually referring to the player models, it was more about the upcoming survival features (e.g. things like temperature, humanoid enemies, restructured crafting recipes etc), they won't be part of the player models update, but the player models update will serve as a foundation for these features ;)

I have to re-read this carefully, as with what I was told hmm.... ?(

Oh! Now that'll be an interesting challenge. I wonder if we could be given a metallic floating platform we can then start building on top of using planks and beams. Have it floated out into the ocean, anchored into place by the system (an an actual anchor (or stilts), then build via planks & beams on it. I'd happily make that sort of building/structure in the water. I'm sure we can do it now via blocks, yet floating it could be interesting with a boat.

You're welcome. The one at 1:10 was also the loudest on top of the steps in my Canadian Tower on a lower floor. When I had fewer floors it really startled me. What was played at 1:10, but louder.

So, it's random and a 'dynamic' type of sound? Something that happens at random for the atmosphere type thing? And nice. Yeah, somewhat difficult, yet I do try to make my buildings appear to be seamless. I hate seeing holes/cracks in walls.

Good luck! I see youtube and other softwares really struggles with OBS exported files. They always downgrade losseless video into grainy ones. Such a pain.

Youtube being a little strange that I believe it's still processing, or unsure how to process OBS related .mp4 files. Even so, here's the video

    22 Mark
    33 mark
    49 mark (faint)
    53 mark (loud)
    1:06 (very faint)
    1:10 (loud)
    1:49 (faint)
    1:53 (faint)
    2:10 (faint)
    2:13 (faint)
    2:19 (faint)
    2:29 (faint)
    2:38
    2:56 (sound click)
    2:33(2:34) door/block click
    3:52 (loud)

    Noteworthy sounds:
    1:10 & 3:52

The one at 1:10 being what could be considered a 'jump scare' type sound. 3;52 is in the similar manner to that.

Alright, I'll see about recording this soon now that I have the proper free time for it because it's happening more frequently now that I should be able to record something also. Building a little protection on a building walkway that whenever I step on ID 22 as an inner pathway I hear a 'CLUNK', or "THUNK' loud enough to be heard over my anime music. If I wasn't listening to music it would have been a true jump scare. Just walk on blocks in a floor manner and you'll hear it.

Now then, how to share this hmm....... Need to figure out a quick way to record this & easier sharing.

I've been having issues with video softwares that I'm looking for something that works fine like Microsoft Movie Maker. If I can get one that plays fair with OBS's version of .avi, or something, then I'll up a video. I'll be able to probably have a video shared of that 'thunk' sometimes tomorrow or the day after.

Maybe make a Minecraft styled house where you make a hollow square trim to then fill in the inner with another type of block to then switch from dirt/sand to stepping on the blocks and off it again. It sometimes takes awhile to trigger that 'thunk' so some patience might be required.

The one with the stairs was the loudest yet that I actually jumped. Harv is my witness via chat, yet didn't hear it. Harv said he heard some 'thunks', yet he'll have to post here with his own observation when he feels the desire/need to.
