A new update (0.9.2) is available now!
Latest Hotfix: 0.9.2.1 (2026-05-13)

Yeah, I'm glad you got where I'm getting at. The thought of building on water by using floaty materials, or even floating a whole structure from the land into the ocean to then anchor it in place using stilts, or even anchors. Even just floating about using the styrofoam.

Well, I guess one has to view the video I linked of 'Landless' to then wait till they see a demo of the person building a square shelter in the middle of the water. Should be an interesting experience.

Alright, here's another one of those 'food for thought' posts in how we could make Rising World 'more entertaining' via water building. Just to clarify, I'm not talking about blocks & planks, but with what materials you would use to make structures in lakes, oceans, & seas. Basically in any body of water which requires you to also use scuba gear. Can't tell if this thread is me being stupid. We'll see if it is, or not.

Would Red51 add in a new building type to the game, something we're unaware of, or something we could improvise using floating materials in Rising World.

There's structures with pillars on them (Britain has some that are now a nation of its own), there's Russian with their abandoned naval bases from the Soviet era, there's the oil rigs, and then we those basic huts on stilts.

    Maunsell Fort:

    http://www.urbanghostsmedia.co…4/12/maunsell-forts-2.jpg

They're on stilts, something to avoid the rough waves of the ocean.

    https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XTy…/P_7sU76D9UQ/s1600/17.jpg

Then there's these Soviet naval bases.

    --------------------

I guess one would either have to A) use floating building materials, or B) Find little islands to then use as a foundation to add in all sorts of various floors & such. Draining the water the appropriate manner in whatever Rising World version we have. On would scuba dive to build a foundation building it upwards to then make a boat dock & such.

Rising World isn't the first game to 'inspire' this. Minecraft spawned numerous ocean cities that I tried inspiring from, yet failed to follow through to the very end. I was going to, yet had to drop out. There's this game called 'Landless' that now has me wondering because we have untapped oceans we can build on also to keep away from pirates, bandits, and raiders. Red51 showed little interest in having pirates on water that we may be safe from them on water, until he catches on (or has caught on) to populate the water with threats also. Pirate ships, bandits on water, and such.

    http://store.steampowered.com/…/Landless/?snr=1_4_4__128

There's that 'Landless' game to inspire from, lightly.

    - Medieval Era: Simple raft styled builds with some stones sinking into the shallow parts. Would be mostly wooden coated in various oils & such to proof it from dangerous waters.
    - Modern: More complex cement and stone mixes. Even metallic to allow for more complex naval related builds to hold boats, submarines, and etc.

    ------------

Alright, this may be gibberish so do your best in making heads and tails out of this. I'm just curious how one would build structures in the ocean for when we gain scuba gear to make foundations & such. To use something other than blocks & planks; More 'cement' or water related building materials. ?( Zork, you seem to love these threads so do your best in brainstorming heh.

Going to dump these two error logs of some sort during random crashes. From what I can recall it was when I was mining up copper that it just crashed at random.

    Quote

Then there's one today which occurred exactly when I alt-tabbed, yet being told it's to do with the 'raycasting', or something.

I find it hilarious how half of these errors are the result from me alt-tabbing, yet that first one above wasn't. It just happened when mining copper.

I wonder also if in the future Red can make it so that fog doesn't go through blocks.

I believe there was a plan for that to happen. He was eventually planning to get rid of fog in buildings that I wouldn't mind that happening. Not sure if we'll also see lightning strikes with storms, but having fog removed, even not hearing water steps underground is something that I'm hoping shall be looked at after the next major update. Maybe even after the horses update.

No worries. Yeah, curious if we'll a mini steam age inbetween Medieval Era & Modern era as a sign signaling us we teched out of Medieval era & on our way into Modern era. Not sure if it's in the plans, or if it was going to be merged with Modern, but having a 'steam era' would be interesting.

Steam trains & prototype steam vehicles were made. Steam engines of various sorts to take advantage of.

yeah, there's things you can take out of FF6, as well as anime, which would be practical in various applications. Thus why I made thisethread because it's what people desire, and because I saw some nice designs for airships of various sorts to take to the skies. If planes like Twin Otters (a slow & reliable Canadian plane) can't keep up with Rising World's draw distance speed then having a heavy hauling airship would be the next best thing. It would also encourage us to build in the sky. I would happily make a base above the ocean, and away from bandits, raiders, & pirates heh. We should also have our scuba gear by then also :D

Realistically, and immersive of course. Would be fun seeing steam & gas powered airship.

Yeah, I can't wait for this to happen because I also did mention 7 Days to Die of thing. 'Stranded Deep' seems to go around this by using the 'billboarding' technique, yet not sure how far you can see things. Glad to see Red51 fiddling with this hoping we'll get something out of this in the future. My setting is at 51/21, or something like that for distance & viewing. I forgot exactly, yet remember it was something like 51/21 where I feel it's the best viewed. I can't wait, yet shall be sweet when it's pushed out.

Alright, I have another to note because tonight it really pissed me the hell off with how 'jump scare' sounding it was.

You know how you have those lines of bricks to step on? Those produce sound when you step on it similar to a creek a floor makes. You hear this 'thunk' noise on it. It was worse when I stepped on ID 152 marble block stairs (the slimmer ones) that it made me curse (being fatigued and tired) that things like that sets you off easily. Sorry to always seem angry, cranky, and such yet when you just can't get proper sleep or working........

I tried to figure out the name of what I'm talking about....the 'threshold'' in a door frame (the bottom of it), or something like that. Even sometimes happens when you don't have a door frame to it. I'm not sure if it's an old bug related to when mansewers were an issue, yet it is an issue now.

Yeah,........I was able to put up with it before when wake...When you're half-asleep it scares the shit out of you, more so when it's those 152 marble stairs when you step on it lets off a loud bang.

    <insert big bang here>

Yeah, am aware that we'll need the electricity stuff first, and such. Thus, the red "NOTE" I put above, unless it's still hard to see. ?( I just wanted to post this because "we" (on discord) were having nostalgic moments talking about Turtles & such that I had to make this thread in response to that.

If you miss the initial message, the stones will just quietly accumulate on the ground indefinitely. Are you sure that's not what was happening, Arctic? It's a relatively new behavior.

What I like about it is that the drops are not lost. You have plenty of time to get to a storage container, unload, and return to pick up the abandoned drops.

I guess I forgot to look down, but it just wouldn't notify me my inventory was full. I even checked, scanned the quantity as to what was happening. It's the whole issue of it not notifying me. I should have looked down.

Hmm....I had this (or something similar) for a long while that I wanted to suggest this, yet didn't feel it was that of an issue. Thanks, Zork. Just have an inventory full of stone, try and convert it to any stone block for it to tell you it can't convert it.

Another one I had today/tonight was one where I kept digging stone, yet it simply allowed me to dig & dig that it didn't register my inventory was full. Not sure why, just that it allowed me to gather stone even when full.

Yeah, not just children. Even what people would consider young, mid, and older adults. I'm itching so badly, yet gitty with what we're getting that I just can't wait. I want to ask when we're going to get the previews because once that's out the main update should soon follow behind a month or so later. Patience does pay off, but the more we wait the more it's pushed further back delaying other stuff.

Yeah, the anticipation is ruining me. :S

There's this issue going on with Rising World that even I have to make note of it that I have to request 'garden shears' to be a thing. Me, Zork, and others seem to have this issue that farming tends to be a hassle when you continuously gain 1x saplings for troublesome plants that garden shears could be the answer to this problem by snipping 'saplings' off of these plants.

    http://media.aerogardenimages.…tending_garden-shears.jpg

I had this frustration with chili peppers and such that it be nice if this was looked into. Upping spawn rate may indeed work, but a more immersive way to be using these garden shears instead because I want to also just to gain saplings without harming the plants. I want to grab a piece of them to replant instead of knocking the whole thing down.

This is awesome news that I'm glad this is being considered and experimented with. I can't wait to have this activated, but 'player models & animations' first? Yeah, so many awesome features planned that it's making me far to excited that you could mistake me for being drunk, or something. Red51 knows what he's doing.

I'm now curious if Nitrado will allow me to run this, or if I'll have to deal with their latency instability issues again. It's great we're having this, but is the world ready for what Rising World has to offer?

    --------------

Edit: Would be neat if registered members would be able to plot & place markers down (the ones on the server) on the map so we could claim what area is ours, or have some grid (E-4), or something to mark an area.

Alright, I'm just going to bump this because (because I 100% forgot about this thread) the next update is going to allow me to re-scale NPCs, and only NPCs. You'll be allowed to re-scale the NPCs down to (and up into giants)....... This quote shall explain. There'll be limits, yet if someone desires they could even make 'Attack on Titan' anime mods, or whichever.

    Quote

and maybe there might be some restrictions (e.g. a min and max size, especially since extreme scales [e.g. 1 mm or 100 km] might cause some trouble ^^ but 15 cm will definitely work)

I'll be able to make 15 cm tall NPCs themed to Busou Shinki that, from my knowledge, I'll be able to have Shinki Benio (as seen in the images attached) added into the game. It all depends what we're actually given, yet we shall be given samurai armour, and I believe a samurai sword. Don't quote me on the samurai sword, yet it is possible. I, again, want someone to assist me (once this 'Player Model & Animations' update is released) to help me try and get these little ones added into the game. Just in the game, modeled up armour & accessory wise for these 'Busou Shinki', and maybe even Frame Arms Girls.

I'm all excited because we'll have access to 15 cm/6 inches tall NPCs (which you can rescale). I even forgot this thread existed, yet do ignore the green status bubble above. Nothing is done, it's only 'still in planning'. I really would love it if someone would try and help me with this once the update is out.

    --------

Then there's something more 'complex' because there's Renge, whom is based on a 'Ninetails' (9 tailed fox spirit) from the Japanese folklore. She has fox ears & 1-9 tails. She even has 9 daggers (for 9 tails) to represent her 9-tailed fox type. I prefer her PSO2 version over the figure version when it comes to modding her in. Even lines under her eyes.

PSO2 JP - Shinki Renge by SubTrance, on Flickr

PSO2 JP - Shinki Renge by SubTrance, on Flickr

PSO2 JP - Shinki Renge by SubTrance, on Flickr

That's not how Renge actually appears. She originally appears as the below, yet I had to 'smooth' her out in an online anime sci-fi fantasy game. having to make her appear more robotic, and even trying to get her to appear foxy. I'm wishing that some of her appearance shall be in vanilla to simplify things, yet unsure what to do about the fox ears & tail.

    P1290437 by SubTrance, on Flickr

Yeah. I'll be able to 100% spawn Benio, but Renge is another issue altogether. She'll need her blue foxy eyes, white ears, and white fox tail. Benio is easier off because she'll have her samurai gear she could wear, and maybe even her samurai sword.

    -------------

    - Video:

Benio - Type Samurai (in combat):

(You'll see that she's in samurai gear, can wield a musket, as well as a lance/naginata type weapon. She's already set from the get-go, and that makes me extremely happy.)

    - Kohiru (Type Chopsticks)

(Yeah, I feel that Kohiru shall be pushing it that I'm wishing, and hoping, for some alternatives in Japanese fashion in Rising World. Her fashion is retro Japanese that it'll be difficult. Rising World won't have chopstick weapons, nor the throwing weapon of hers. Hmm.........)

Yeah, I'm excited because the 'Player Model & Animation' update shall allow me to do things on my own, yet I shall still need people's help, if they so choose to assist me. I do hope clothing can be imported with ease, similar to how you'd add in posters & staticmodels in that plugin. Even accessories attached onto the head, back, and such.

    -----------------

My serious request to Red51 would be the ability to pick up these NPCs by holding them in your hand (if small enough), as well as having them on your shoulder (also, small enough). Shall be adorable. That, and being able to pick up chickens to transport them quicker to places in a more immersive manner.

Having a bit of a nostalgic thought from Minecraft FTB of using Turtles in Minecraft that it be sweet having some of that in Rising World. Doesn't have to be the EXACT thing, just more 'realistic', or something. Maybe a Rising World version of that to take advantage of the graphics so you can program it to do whatever you want. To go farming, to go mining, chopping wood, and etc. It be sweet having that, even filling in holes with something that it once dug with other materials.

    What are FTB Turtles?: https://ftbwiki.org/Turtle & http://computercraft.info/wiki/Turtle

We apparently have very wise people who can code, and even fiddle with Turtles that it be sweet if they could program some automated bots for us. They used to be my very best mining buddies for when I became too lazy to go digging. It gets insanely tedious after awhile, yet it sometimes does feel like cheating. They were however welcomed.

NOTE!: Keep in mind that I'm not requesting this to be soon, just that it's something for the future.

    ----------------------

    On a Side-note:

I'm dying with laughter just imagining 15cm/6 inch NPCs digging with little shovels & pickaxes as they gain resources for you also. This is for when they're coded to go mining in an area you told them to dig, and in patterns you told them to dig in, and etc. I'm just imagining the little shovels & pickaxes swinging as they dig next to you, or something as they then go dump it into a nearby storage chest. It's too cute.....

Later in Rising World's life, whenever possible, it be interesting to try and build robotic humanoids (androids) and such to help mine, and stuff. Not just befriending NPCs, but ones you can also program and do stuff because we have very intelligent people on this forum. We need to take advantage of this! Scripting these androids & robots to do various things to build off of what people have done for FTB Turtles. We need to harness that intelligence.

Because it's me, and I'm into anime, I can't wait to have something called 'Busou Shinkis' (15 cm battle robots) assisting me with little chores, and even being able to be picked up in the hand, and even sat on your shoulder (like a parrot), something like with Minecraft. That part coming about because of the chickens being tamed for breeding in 'ANimal Breed Master' plugin. It's just funny, and something that makes us enjoy Minecraft & Rising World. It's these small things which are possible, and what we've done with 'Turtles'.

Also, it be sweet if we also had various actual living Turtles in Rising World. Sea turtles, snapping (that actually attack you, if you get too close), as well as 'normal' pond turtles, and etc.

Sorry for my obnoxiousness, yet I'm just too excited. I love Rising World with what it's capable of. Sorry for having a high post count & etc, but I love this game.

Two eras? I guess I'm even more ignorant than I thought I was. Where is that mentioned?

Kinda gets me concerned. Red51 is doing an amazing job developing what I guess is just one era right now. How can he possibly do more unless we clone him? ?(

It was in a roadmap, or forum posting, or somewhere. I know it's out there, somewhere obvious also. It explains why everything is jumbled together because he's busy just getting features into the game that we'll have a solid Medieval era we can lock into, or progress into Modern era (or start in Modern) to do as we desire. If you played 'Rise of Nations' RTS game you'd know what I'm talking about when you tech from primitive era to Medieval era to modern era.

That has me thinking of how detailed & gritty Medieval era would feel that we may need primitive airships there. Thinking we may feel some of what's in Medieval Engineers in Rising World in some fashion. For airships it not be just airships, but gliders & hot air balloons, but some late-tech realistic fantasy airship, or something to complete it if people are going to lock into that tech. They would be able to transport goods around by horse, gliders, hotair balloons, AND airships.

Yeah, I've also been watching a lot of anime bringing in airships that it's making me desire something slow, yet reliable to haul goods around the map. Something I've also been doing in Minecraft FTB a long while ago that I'm just bringing back something for newly generated hype.

One anime being 'Granblue Fantasy' where you see airships flying about for trade and such. There's also a very long anime named show that has more modern airships, yet I'm skipping that for they don't feel 'right' for Rising World.

    http://vignette3.wikia.nocooki…/latest?cb=20160807172026

Yeah, you have to keep in mind when you think about this is that Rising World was said to be divided into two eras: 1) Medieval Era & 2) Modern era. Because the timelines are not divided yet you have a mix of everything all in one age because Red51 has bigger fish to fry. I'm curious as to when he'll divide them.

Zork, can you try again by mentioning what would be fitting for Rising World's airship medieval era design? or in general? Feedback, man. Feedback. Harv did it right

Hey, just thought that this needed it's own topic (maybe again) just to gauge people's thoughts on this. There's been mention that we'll gain gliders, and maybe even hot air ballons...but what if we gained some form of fantasy concept airship for the Medieval Era, and something more 'blimp' or 'zeppelin' style for modern era Rising World?

I'm struggling to find any flying contraption for Medieval era, yet everything works in Modern era. Anything is up for grabs.

    ---------------

    Usefulness?:

It would be able to pass through difficult terrain to transport cargo to harder to reach areas. it would be slow enough to allow the map to render, yet reliable that it could even go where trains & horses would be difficult to get through. It would be able to carry a nice chunk of cargo to be seen transporting goods to & far.

The modern version would be able to do the same, yet with more modern fuel sources, more efficient, and more accurate. Size could be controlled via varieties of such.

    ---------------

I'm struggling to find one, yet seem to lean on this one

    http://www.artsmithcraftworks.…hipFinal-001-1024x768.jpg

Maybe it'll be best not to have an airship in Medieval, only in Modern era? Or none at all? I still believe we should also have a plane based on the 'Twin Otter' because of how slow, yet reliable it would be. If there was a design you'd use for Medieval Era, what would it be? Also, poll can be changed, if this thread still exists. You can alter your vote as many times as you want for this poll.

What brought this on? This: https://www.worldsadrift.com/island-creator/

Ah, nice posts here with some nice feedback.

Thirdly, I know it's been discussed before in one of my recent posts, but I think that the worlds should have a larger playable area. I know that they're infinite and I've heard that currently it's about like 10,000x10,000 before it starts getting laggy or whatever (personally I've gone 20,000 blocks out with no problems, but I have a beast computer), and I know that you said it's a low priority, but in my opinion that should be a higher priority. I mean this in the best possible way.

Yeah, this really needs to be looked at after the 'Player Models & Animation Update', and the version 2 of that update adding in horses, boats and such. 10,000x10,000 starts to become too small when you head in one direction. Granted, we could go elsewhere in another direction, yet....yeah. I'm keeping my other 4 directions intact for other updates requiring new chunks. Who knows where horses shall spawn (old or new chunks). I still have room to play with so we'll see how important this shall become with the next two updates. When Red51 adds in trains then he truly must look at this seriously. Trying to say this as politely as I can when we can venture further & farther more reliably.

Also, it would be one of the greatest games ever made if you could implement technology like train building tools, cars, planes, boats, airplanes etc. OMG that would be the coolest thing ever.

We're all looking forward to seeing trains, cars, & boats. It be awesome to see how they handle that both me & Harv are both stockpiling on iron ore in hopes of building a united railway network. Can't wait to see how trains shall effect our RW life. I have plans of how I'd also loop the train around.

I do hope we gain a Euro Truck Sim 2 style movement where you also have to use blinkers, and that there's an active horn, and such for cars & other related vehicles. Being able to customize oyur vehicles, while also having ETS2 & ATS styled trucks for those 'long hauls'.

Even having horses & those simple carts shall be a fun feature. Being able to customize your horse, being able to drag that wagon, and etc. Everything shall be neat. Horses need that 'auto-throttle' found in 'Mount & Blade: Warband' game where you can set a speed and it'll run at that speed. I need to play it again for the horse 'feel' again.

Ok, another suggestion I have, and this is the one I want the most, is rivers. Please, I beg you, we need rivers! The lakes are epic, but having rivers as well would make the world's even better and more realistic.

Yeah, at least rivers should be a thing, and I wouldn't mind them conflicting a bit here and there with the terrain. We're still playing in a test sandbox, yet have to warn people in advance to blueprint their builds before this update. Try and get them (rivers) to connect from one lake to the next, as with an ocean, maybe avoiding mountains but going through everything else. Code them to only generate at a certain elevation, or to point downward from a mountain side. Not trying to sound 'know it all', just some possible suggestions.

You did say it's tricky, but if it's a biome divider then I'd say it should work in some fashion. I can wait when you fiddle with this after the player models stuff so whatever ends up working we'll take it.

The world is indeed infinite (at least the world generation isn't restricted), but you will run into precision issues (rounding errors) sooner or later. These issues become noticeable at around 10,000 and are getting worse the further you travel (somewhere between 10,000 and 100,000 it becomes unplayable), so it's recommendable to stay within the 10,000x10,000 boundaries.
Unfortunately I have no ETA when the "real" infinite world will be finally available ( DaBoiye: I just used my 'ETA' hotkey again :D), first we really need to get some other stuff ready (especially the new player models)

Curious what these rounding errors are in a simplified manner. Yeah, that'll be an issue when we gain horses & trains to play with, more so on heavier populated servers. Thankfully, I'm on a small server still building in a confined space that I can handle this a bit. The thing is, when you're seeking out biomes it becomes an issue where you travel far & wide. Hmm....

Yeah, the player models needs to be a priority, then if possible, see about rivers & upping the stability. If not, then I guess we just gotta live with what you have planned after that.
