A new update (0.9.2) is available now!
Latest Hotfix: 0.9.2.1 (2026-05-13)

Alright, I'm thinking of allowing one or two more people to come onto the server, yet you must be well known in the community. If you're interested you must be well known to others as there's been cases of trolls stirring up more trouble whenever things becomes to fun & popular. Blame them for this tedious screening process. To join, just share me some images (in general on the forum), some people could then vouch for your maturity, and then I'll consider adding you onto the server.

    -----------

    - [0.8.2 Map Update]:

Loving this new map update that it now motivates you to go exploring without being lost. YOu can also gain a grasp of how your world appears as you explore, yet wishing for a wider version of the map. If possible, to even export the map to be an image to be sharable on forums & such. Surprised Red51 added the map in sooner than later with how complex it was made out to be, yet glad it's now in that it's very helpful. Even happy that I can now grow corn because it's in season and it's something I always enjoyed. It now (or always has) 1-upped Minecraft in the food variety range.

    - Image 1: Corn found just in front of Daboiye's warehouse. Easy find! They also can be found in that lush biome.
    - Image 2: Paper press is a nice addition. Love how I can make up to 1 to 4 paper pieces, yet the water process may need some tweaking. For water we may need a rain barrel to properly pull from, or some liquid storage container.
    - Image 3: Loving the new map as you can see the small preview of the 'Outter Mountain Bowl' & 'Sierra Ridge' on the map. 'Mountain Bowl' is still just off the map. Been having fun exploring the world thanks to this.
    - Image 4: While exploring I even found (with Daboiye) an abandoned shack. It however was a stupid one where I couldn't loot from it. No music discs....At that point I wish we had wandering NPC traders.
    - Image 5: The new growing corn field with a touch of sugar beets. There's a bug where hemp grows as cotton.

Thanks for the update! Thanks to it, I'm now wanting to play for that little while longer as it re motivates.

Personally I've started a few new worlds and flew around at max speed for a while and was unable to find a desert. The beaches seems to be shaped a little better. Instead of being a large circle of water in a square of sand, they seem to have more variation in how the beach is shaped. i even found one where part of the beach obtruded out into the ocean a bit. i'd love to see sea rocks do that instead but its a step in the right direction.
I found one pyramid in a pre-discovered desert on my server . There was just a stone chest below a passage underneath. I haven't found a maze yet. Personally i was hoping the pyramids would vary in size. But its good that we finally have a "surface" category of dungeon. I'm assuming the pyramid is of that category. I'd still love to eventually find a surface entrance to an underground dungeon spawn.

I know that the plan is to make all the really nasty and dangerous stuff underground and just hostile animals and human NPCs and the environment to deal with above ground. So if we choose to go underground there's greater risk with greater reward. But it would be nice if on rare occasion a surface entrance was visible to an underground dungeon to sort of lure those of us not up to the task of spelunking. I remember hearing that dungeons are planned to eventuall go super deep. Perhaps a "surface to hell" super dungeon could be a new dungeon type which would also be an option in the world creation options. This dungeon would be massive and have the strongest of enemies and descend to hell from the surface.

Speaking of, I really hope we get ropes and anchors soon so we can go spelunking. Maybe after the player models this will come since we can have some sort of rope climbing animation.

I'll have to take a look into the world generation by generating a new world map. I really want a desert closer than 8000 m, and to see the new ocean layout. From what you're saying Red51 covertly tweaked the coding of my complaint to make oceans more like the lakes. I'm however saddened I lost the landmark structure of a dungeon peaking out from the ground, yet glad it was fixed. Sad it's gone because I wanted to explore it, yet happy it's now patched.

I need to go back and look for chili. That's the only thing I'm missing. Seen loads of nettle, hogweeds, and cotton. Even found hemp, something we needed while also being appropriate for 4/20 day that I'm now growing that. Growing hemp, corn, and sugar beets. Just need chili.

I need to find a desert to see the pyramid. I was too busy being in survival mode being re-motivated to try and build again. Wanting to build a fort and such again. We really needed this update to add onto things.

Again, I'm surprised that Red51 added in maps because it was made out to be more complex than it sounded. He deserves high praise here for such that it makes navigating easier. People shall be less lost now heh. That, and CORN! I have my corn! Things can now be quite corny on my server! Funny how I also get corn on the day I see corn being sold on 4/20. It's in season that I shall be farming a whole lot of corn.

We still need surface entances that I guess pyramids are a prototype for that with what Red51 mentioned of them being connected with mazes. If he can do more of that then we'll have nice explorable places. Makes me wonder how it shall all pan out when we get the actual world with a 1-world ocean.

Rope & anchors need to happen, even if the anchor is just a decoration. I'll be making an anime themed memorial for mine. If I can place anchors on display that would be welcomed. Ships could come after. Having variations to these anchors would be sweet as well in both commercial and military. Having them treated the way they are in Wurm Unlimited would be sweet to keep your boat stationary (locked into place) so the winds of the world wouldn't blow them away. The current, or whatever Red51 is planning.

I'm continuously being surprised by Red51's update. Such a nice feeling.

What an awesome update. I love it!

    - The map is awesome. I love how it can be zoomed out and scrolled with. Because my mouse is broken it tends to double click (planning to get a new mouse) which opens up the thought that labeling should be dragged, confirmed, named, and such. Good start, yet more polish. Surprised with the type of map it is. Desiring that we could zoom it all out, plus have a map that's revealing in a more 'widescreen' manner, not just a standard 'square' shape.

    - Loving the corn. First thing I found that I'm now happily growing it. Love it! It's also in season.

    - Sugar beets have been found, and planted. Thanks to that I also found hemp on my world. Looking for chili, yet amused by the presence of both Hogweed and Nettle. Mostly Hogweed that they should be bunched up more, more intrusive and such. Wish we could harvest them in an attempt for decoration.

    - Loving the paper press that it has a nice multi-layered step to it. Glad I can create 4 paper at once using wool and cloth. Even water. I'll have to re-arrange my builds just for it, or dedicate a building just for it.

    - I can't really tell, yet somewhat testing out if biome arrangement has been appropriately tweaked. Found a an abandoned cabin in hops of stumbling across a desert for goodies. Wishing I had auto-run for how tedious the running is per distance.

    --------

    Bug wise.......

    - Canteens won't fill up fully. They're stuck at 10% fullness

    - You fixed the dungeons somehow that it removed the exposed dungeon top from my world. Unsure if all dungeons are removed, yet shall have to go back underground to confirm if still there, or just that one dungeon. RIP, surface exposed dungeon. I actually miss my surface exposed dungeon that I wanted to show a buddy it. It was a landmark, and it's now gone. RIP.

I can't wait to play more. It's fun again that I jsut want to keep exploring and having fun. Fun stocking up on new goodies while making use of existing stuff.

Another vital suggestion is a new glass pane. We need one for use in skyscrapers and other modern-looking buildings. The current IDs are good, but we are lacking a smooth, high-gloss, or just a darker one. The "normal" glass ID is too see-thru, it doesn't really work for skyscrapers bc you can see right through and doesn't look like a actual wall.

I agree. I would also love coloured stained ones, similar to what Minecraft has. You see buildings with blue tint to it, yet other colours would be sweet as well for the creative folks.

True that! it is indeed our world, and we can do whatever we want with it. We can already do so much by fiddling with the filters, the options, world generations, and etc. We'll, be also be able to do so, so, so MUCH more with this game that it's making us horribly impatient to see what Rising World shall be on the flip-side.

This is also why I try to steer away from linear game as they tend to make things feel claustrophobic. Rising World is as open as you'll get, and who knows....maybe someone shall use Rising World to improve their game, just as Rising World is doing with Minecraft heh.

Also, we can mod the game in far more detail and strength than Minecraft. Maybe not equally yet, but it will give you many MANY options later. You could even have those 'assault rifles' that was desired long ago, among other things. Even +18, anime related things, other game things, and etc. Rising World is YOUR world, do what you want with it.

As far as I know the survival aspects are coming later so guns may be interesting in future. At the moment you're right. It is a building game but it is still in development and will not stay like this. I like it as building game but I also like the survival aspect this game may have in future. I think the best way is to play the game as you like best. What I want to say is that even if there are guns in the game doesn't mean you have to use them. But there may be others who want to use them. :)

    Simonk sums it up nicely.

We're basically getting the 'survival' side of the weaponry that you'd expect in a medieval era timeframe, and then a modern era as we tech up into that. We'll start in Medieval era so we'll have bows & arrows, among other things, then we'll gradually tech our way into modern era, or so was Red51's plans. You can also even lock it into eras of medieval only, or modern only. You can expect only survival oriented firearms of pistols, muskets, and such....nothing major. Basically things for hunting & 'self-defense' so you can protect yourself from pirates, bandits, raiders, hostile loggers, wild predatory animals, and other players (if PVP server). Yeah. We're even going to get those canons from colonial era, the ones you see on sail ships from the 1800's. Shall be fun times.

Makes me wonder if we can expect a harpoon gun for when we go swimming in the ocean/water when sharks & such were to be added, only attacking when hungry. Sharks only attack when hungry.....Killer Whales tend to troll a bit......What IS hostile, I wonder.

Survival would also contain what's in '7 Days to Die' of environmental effects of having to stay hot in cold biomes & vice versa. You would get sick from the elements if you don't stay warm in a cold climate, or gain heat stroke when not keeping cool. Even probably getting your character sick when not clothed properly, or dried off from rain, or when coming out of moist areas (lakes). Various sorts.

I mentioned having zombies, but only on the condition that they would be rare & regional. They would only be found in a very rare village on some island somewhere in ruins. They won't wander out, and such....just more of a 'lore' thing. People seem to be so hostile to this idea, even when contained in a region, that it's frustrating. I know people don't want zombies, just that even when contained in a rare manner that people still refuse. It's a shame.

But yeah, Rising World shouldn't be too hard. It's meant to please all player types (casual & hardcore) that everybody shall have fun with it. Red51 is using his common sense, something Mojang struggles with, that he's adding things we desire. He takes things seriously, putting things into the game in a very proper manner while giving us the ability to modify the game however we desire. Make a building only world, or a survival. All up to you.

You know, It's very boring game right now. I want to play in real survive mode like "The Long Dark". I want to fear wolfs in the night, dying of thirst and hunger. To be sick, suffer and suffer. Change the appearance of the character? HA! It's so boring!

    8|

Well, it's a shame making games takes time and effort that you can't have everything in one go. It be sweet if we did, and could, yet Red51 is just one guy that we have to wait. Boring? Maybe a little bit, yet not in that tone. It's missing a lot of stuff, yet boring? Nah.

    ---------

Nice. Loving the mentions of skinning animals and for food. That's something to look forward, if animals could also populate chunks in the backgrounds on their own without farming and such. I wonder if it's even possible to have the animals repopulate when you clear out an area, or the animals clearing one another out that some re-population would occur.

Also, from what was mentioned I guess we'll have a fun time with the new update sometimes next week. That is if it releases.

I want to know if I should go onto Hongfire forums to rally people to try and make some basic anime mods & such, or if it'll have to frustratingly wait till later. That hype, and that awesomeness that Rising World brought with it. That common sense that's making me this way in curiousity and hype.

Also, I hope we can rest in beds (not sleep, yet sleeping also) to heal the player health. Maybe have bandages also heal up people's health, or have another item focus on health healing.

Been loving this update that it's nice being able to make 'legit' mass-producible gravel. Get a nice pace going on by picking up gravel in front of you as you place stone behind you, spamming it as you go along. Nice how you can just burn through stacks of stone while gaining stacks of gravel. Making roadways now being as how I wanting them that I must thank Red51 in the fullest for giving us this 'ginder' station. It's my most used & favourite one

Haven't used the tanning station much in my sessions, yet I do love how it is decorational. How you need a hunting knife to skin the hide into leather while also being decorational. Once animals can reproduce (on their own & with our assistance) I'll be more active in hunting animals.

The spinning wheel is also a nice addition that I'm loving how you can turn cotton into threads. Stockpiled on a bit of threads in hopes of carpets, clothing, and etc. I really would love to make actual carpet objects in the game that doesn't require posters. Just simple carpet objects. Spinning wheel is my second favourite. Love these interactive work stations.

    Quote

[Change] Raking sand, snow, mud, gravel etc. no longer turns it into dirt (same applies to the sledgehammer)

When finally building that gravel roadway I'm glad this works as intended. It's less of a hassle that it encourages me building my roadway more. I don't have to fight, fiddle, and such and that should be the key for Rising World. It doesn't sink, it doesn't create a hole, it just levels itself. Everything should be 'smooth'. This is, and I'm now happy. One less thing to fight me.

Yeah, you did awesome with this one that I'm loving it. Looking forward to what may be a 'API & Construction Plan' oriented update coming before the 'Player Models & Animations'. Going off what's been posted.

8o Sounds promising and already rather enticing! ^^

(The lake looks really gorgeous. I am collecting seeds with interesting lakes: any idea of this one?)

Sorry, I'm late for the seed correction yet it's 'ArcticuValley'. I went to search it so I can create a SP world to see if there's any wortwhile biomes nearby.

Yeah, the whole finding the biome 'again and again' is frustrating that it needs to be spread around with a bit more variety. I went straight north in my multiplayer world finding only rocky grasslands mixed with lakes that it frustrated me I couldn't find any other biome. It simply stuck to one that I'm simply waiting for the player models & animation update before expanding out again, or something.

If we can get some mini-biome added or something that would be neat. Any biome, even if it's a swamp or something.

Started the game up, the game hung for a bit on a black screen, then spat out that error for me.

Yeah, your typical MMO mailbox thing to read messages is what I would love to see in Rising World. Both in written (scrolls, postcards, and the like), while also having digital email to read through when we get to that state. I guess you can make a 'Twitter' plugin, as mentioned, yet how short would the messages be? If you must, I guess having 10 cotton fibres could equal paper of some sort. Raw or refined, up to you.

Sorry, I guess I have to look into your UPS thing in more detail yet I'm quite a picky person when I desire survival only. As vanilla as it gets if it contributes to survival in any way. I'm weird that way as I feel the need that there needs to be some challenge to things and a purpose to do them.

It feels awkward I didn't read the posts full meanings/context that it's now in a weird area. Again, I guess I'll just wait to see where NPCs shall take this mailing idea, or whichever.

I tried lightworks yet that refused to read any video in any format. "import failed", or whatever when you try dragging in the video. Can I just make a simple video as when I have when I started my Rising World series? I need to experiment some more.

When NPCs come around I was hoping we could set up a mail system that they would do these runs for you until things become digital. Having some Canada Post/American Post, or whatever nation post you live in that we would hvae transport lines to carry stuff around by horse back, trains, trucks, and etc. Have to wait on NPCs though.

Also, there's a mail plugin, yet it's not in my style so I'm ignoring it. You can check it out if you want.
[Plug-in] UPS, send items to any player

Yeah, I can't wait till we get to NPCs where we can have fun with setting up pathways from one settlement to the next. Setting down flag markers so they would know what's what.

    -------------
    Edit:

Oh, you mean actual letters/mail in more text form....Well, a mailbox item with a 'tweet' type thing would indeed be interesting. When you said mailbox I thought more physical things like parcels that Fed-ex takes. My bad.

Either way, shall be an interesting thing to deal with on both a text/postcard and object sending manner.

ALright, I'm highly frustrated I can't make videos as I used to. I used to go with your typical 'WIndows Movie Maker' stuff from XP era until I used a cracked Sony Vegas. Really not touching that lately that I tried redownloading Windows Movie Maker on my Windows 10 that it's tantruming harshly when I use OBS to piece together. The Rising WOrlds I painstakingly made & rendered (and probably appearing like crap) was using various ways & formats of .mp4, .avi, WMM, as well as 'OpenShot video maker'. It's just not fairing well for me that I stopped making videos because I can't render the damn videos.

I just want a legit free Windows Movie maker that doesn't require me to sign up for something I believe is a scam on Windows 10. I was able to use it for free until my SSD Patriot crashed, yet now it magically & suddenly wants me to sign up so I can render stupid quality videos. I can't even release my dungeons update belated video because of the issues I keep stumbling across. That, and it also assumes that my files are missing, EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE IN THE FOLDER. It's insanely frustrating. :cursing:

Just a simple & 100% legit free Windows Movie Maker would do. I want to make more Rising WOrld videos again......
