A new update (0.9.2) is available now!
Latest Hotfix: 0.9.2.1 (2026-05-13)

Dungeons seems like they'll be patched within the next few days, or so. They're being too much of a hassle that more time needs to be dedicated to them that the other issues are being patched first over the pesky dungeons themselves. Shacks are now more one per biome, or similar to how you find dungeon temples in Minecraft's desert biome. The shacks spawn nicely in the world now that it's awesome.

I keep saying this everywhere, yet I love the weather. It was a nice unexpected touch that I'm assuming was brought about when someone desired snow for winter for Christmas, and it just snowballed from there. That's awesome! I love it. I love how during the dead of night that fog rolls in that you'd even struggle so see where you're going. Just pouring down buckets at a time that you're basically stuck walking at a snails pace, or even stuck indoors. Imagine if you're out in the ocean sailing, or even in a truck on a road.....Even a horse in the middle of nowhere....THat's just brutal fun stuff. The snow in the winter biome is awesome as it's more winter-like, as well as having that nice winter fog to make things more moody, if beautiful. I love it.

Seems like with how massive the update was I forgot to mention that ponds indeed don't have water in them, yet some newer ones do. Glad Red51 & someone else noted it, yet I'm now a bit annoyed it slipped my mind when exploring with the update last night.

Saloon doors are also worse now that they jump & dance violently until you either move or get closer to them. They just dance & dance then snap into place, kind of like the Ghost in Mario when you move (yet a vice-versa reaction). 8|

    - Dungeons [0.8] -

No videos, but I did Twitch stream all this that it was an insane ride from beginning to end. I love the new warm appearing torches, the new weather (rain, thunder, and fog), as well as finding an abundance in shacks. It was insane seeking how many there were, and how far they go. It's just non-stop shacks. I gained music discs, bear pelt, and more compasses......A lovely place to be. I beleive that with all the shacks spawning that it blocks out dungeons (or dungeons wasn't coded) having shacks spawn at every inch of the map.

I love the granophone also. Love the music collection one can have going, yet feel the storage chests needs more variety of vases, decorations, food, among other things. Fish, anything. It needs more 'junk' in it.

I love the boar, yet feel they need to be made more passive in Enderman fashion that they shall provoke only if you linger too long. That, and I also died thanks to an odd slip on a mountain. I died somehow and would love a way for the compass to lead me back to my death point by reading out where the last cross was left at. With how big the map is you do need a compass way to be lead back. Not a label marker, but a compass.

I absolutely love the weather that it impresses me the most! I love the thunder and rain, as well as the fog. The nice overcast, yet feel it needs to be lengthened and delayed more. It should last longer in sunny, overcast, and such...Not instant one to the next........It should last for quite a bit longer.

It's an awesome update, just needs that necessary bug-patch fix. No dungeons, the irony, yet lots of shacks. I also found a shack in a lake when Twitch streaming. :whistling:

(NOTE!: 3rd image is of how disorenting fog is on water. #5 is of a bear rug without killing a bear. #8 is of heavy fog that it's awesome & you become disoriented in. #9 is of a shack found in a lake underwater. Crazy stuff.)

    --------

No Youtube video because of how busy New Years tends to be. I may post one, yet no interest for my videos it seems. I don't really feel like it if people aren't into it.

Alright, seeing as how the other thread is locked I'll say it here........

    - I love how warm the torches feel. A nice brought touch to them. The appearance of the bright glow is awesome, and I love it!

    - I love how the lights and lighting have been fixed. Was expecting this to be a later fix, not so soon. I love how the light reacts now that there's less of an issue with them. Much has been improved.

    - I love how the weather is that things can become insanely brutal when the right conditions are met. I love the rain, the thunderstorm, and the brutal fog. When it's night, IT IS NIGHT. It's DARK. I wish there be lightning or flashes to brighten things up. I have yet to see snow, yet everything else is neat.

    - The weather changes far too frequently that it needs to be delayed longer, last longer in a certain weather pattern, and even be touched up a bit. [Weather: I was expecting weather to be later, yet with it being so soon I was highly surprised & happy to see it in the game. We have things to worry about now with it becoming far more interesting down the line.]

    - I love the new phases of the moon, yet they need to not peak through the weather. When it's foggy & overcast it tends to shine through.

    - I love the shacks, yet they need more variety. The two are neat, yet they need further variety. I love the off-tune piano, even the loot chest. The loot chest needs to be varied more, not just discs, ore, & compass, but vases and other things. More homely things (vases, flowers & etc), even food. Red51 can also have it so 5 to 10 spawn in an area for a mini abandoned village by also adding certain stuff. They can easily make a creepy abandoned village, something it was already doing.

    - The gramophone is awesome. Brings me back to what Silent Hunter 3 has with the same style, yet this seems more detailed. You can have a nice musical session with this. Love the fine touches of winding it up, placing it, and such. Wish we can store the extra discs in a bookshelf, yet may have to make an end table for it. Simply way too many discs (more so when shacks are next to one another). Would love to see the ingame music found as discs (if it hasn't already) that it be neat to play them out. Not just classical or game music, maybe others also.

    - Loving the new spits & such. I have yet to properly try them out, yet loving them.

    - The boars are a neat new threat, yet they need to chill the hell out. I keep having to kill them for how hostile they are that they, as with bears, should only attack when you linger for too long. A hidden timer should count down until they attack you, something similar to Moose also. Moose should stalk you for a little while.

    - I love the oxygen meter. It's very handy, and I love having it around. THanks for adding it! Be neat to have snorkels, scuba gear & etc.

    -------------------------------

New Suggestions thanks to the Dungeons update:

    - When you die the compass should ping you towards a cross marker. With how far we travel the compass needs to be able to lead you back to where you died. There's just no way I'll be able to find what I lost........
    - Shacks could now make a village in a bundle thanks to Red51's shack miscodings, or similar. It's a blessing in a curse that it's an interesting one.
    - Music discs need a place to store them in bookshelves, or their own unique containers. I had to make a chest under my stairway to hold them.
    - We need umbrellas/Parasols to keep dry from the crazy weather. Maybe scuba gear for the water ruins, as well as a rain coat for when rains too much. Granted, this may be a 'player model & animations' thing.

Very good update, yet needs more tweaking :)

I found an underwater shack when doing a Twitch stream. It was in a lake.

I think the shacks are screwing up the dungeon spawning because of their spawning frequency should make it 5 per biome, and maybe make a mini village out of those that do spawn in chunks. The shacks do spawn a nice village, yet they also spawn a whole rubble village also that there's no walls or anything. There seems to be major extremes to these.

Yeah, dungeons seem to be knocked out thanks to the shack spawning. I searched & searched, found nothing. I guess this is the running joke of the floating ore to water position being stuck to abandoned shacks being over-populating......... :whistling:

LOL ^. That should be done actually. Drink just enough to be greatly disoriented. Well, guess I am indeed playing with Dungeons after 7 pm EST, and glad Red51 is taking his time with it to push it further so I don't have to curse about it being out with others messing with it.

Nice. I'm itching for this, yet I have to wait till 7 pm. This saturday is going to be stupid, yet this update should be awesome. Can't wait to go raiding & getting disoriented! 8)

Fine with me. I wouldn't have been able to squeeze in Rising World tonight, yet tomorrow I can have fun doing testing after 6 pm EST onward. I guess you guys can be the guinea pigs while I play the actual game bug free :whistling: /jesting

Oh, the hype is now real, yet Red51 needs his sleep. Let him sleep. If I knew he was needing sleep I wouldn't have poked him. Go get some sleep! Sleep is important. You can see that when I get cranky here. :/

Sorry, sleepy post so more excitable so starting again....

So glad to see that the update is coming out, yet a shame it has to release when I'm working. Even Vortac working on a day like today. Nice that it's a late birthday present, yet an early New Years gift. Zork is going to have fun, for sure, while I'll have to wait till later tonight for a snippet, and the rest of tomorrow night for more fun. Vortac may end up having fun tonight or tomorrow from what I'm seeing. Weem may be jumping on soon? We'll see. I'll see seeing bits & pieces of it tonight. Zork shall see all of it. Ah, what a day, damn it.

It appears I shall be turning my pyramid into a trophy room type thing, unless I build a better one locally to Niska Village. WE'll see how it goes

We're all hyped that I had a combination of being sleepy & excited. :whistling:

A stupid title, yet something I've been thinking about when playing Rising World that it would be neat to 'run & jump', or 'sprint & jump'. Even 'grasping' onto the edge of a block or scenery as you fall so you don't fall to your death.

Copied & pasted from Steam forums:

Just more 'active' & 'interactive' animations to mess about with. I find myself slipping off blocks when building that I'd love to grasp onto a ledge when I slip off so I can bring myself back up onto where I was standing. An auto animation, or something.....Being able to climb up would be handy also, even encouraging more dungeon types, and such.

I absolutely love this item and idea. it would be a nice 'late game' type item, yet if one finds it from a merchant it would shift the balance of the game in an 'interesting' manner. Imagine finding this in a dungeon from a poor soul, or something along those lines. An NPC from a more advanced society gifts it to you, or something. So many routes of obtaining it, using it, that it be neat. Once we gain endless world Rising World the uses shall be even more endless.

Multi-purpose smartphone device that would keep track of anything. I love it! Imagine getting updates on when transportation would arrive at stations and etc. With just one device one could be well informed with the developed world that we created, and if trains, buses, and etc would keep chunks loaded in that spread out manner.

    Oh, the possibilities. 8o

Yup. Or just do something similar to Minecraft where the background to the hotbar is fogged in a bit. Has a bit of its own background to make out the numbers & font. Also, to clarify that not blaming Zork on anything, just that he beat me to my own suggestion that I feel I made him aware of :whistling:

Yeah, that's quite a trip. I stuck to one direction & found the cotton and hemp I was looking for. I spent a long while going so far when both cotton & hemp were so much closer than I realized. I traveled so far to gain new batches for me to later find cotton closer to Niska Village. I found so much closer by that it's frustrating I went quite a distance. And yeah, also that same situation I wished my compass worked properly, yet thankfully knew the direction my settlement was at.

Once we have gravel roads & railway up we won't need the compass for much longer. ONce I start using both those I would then stumble across them to follow them around.

Zork 'stole' one of my mentions that I'd love to see stack number in the hotbar standing out. Some background or font change that you'll see the stack number in any environment. Mentioned & showed it in one of my videos when pyramid building that I moved my POV around until I could see the stack number.

I thought there was one, yet I would love there to be a search option for finding servers. This is Zork's mention.

Compass: Maybe I'm stupid, yet I would love it if there was a main arrow pointing to the direction, a secondary & third to both main and secondary bed, and a fourth one for anything else. I tried to make sense of the compass, yet it was being strange to me. Couldn't even track my main bed, only the last area I slept at.......

I completely forgot about fireworks that was supposed to be planned for one of the New Year's festivities. I was reminded of it when I looked at one of my Minecraft videos for when I still played Minecraft.......Wouldn't mind mining up sulfur just to spend it all on fireworks, or a flare gun for the same effect, yet with variety in shell explosions. ||

    - Rising World - Niska Village [0.7.4] - Episode 10: Merry Christmas!:

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays! Finally decided to get around to hunting down the necessary tree to finally find out what the Christmas tree appears as, and if it would fit in my home. It's apparently a Japanese or European sized tree to fit in a home. Quite neat. Was expecting variety though. Also had some issues with rendering my videos so you may see some slight bubbly transitions. Something happened, and I don't know what.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays! And enjoy the festivities!

    ---------------

Also, at Zork: Yeah, sushi is my main 'go to' for snacking. Love spoiling myself with salmon related sushi. Hoping to see some form of that in the game.

Everybody is chill, yet Trillnar went pessimistic to dismissing people's postings in a passive aggressive manner, somewhat. Back to being chill that nobody replied to Trillnar. It's the tone of your comments so I hope you spend time enjoying Christmas.

Checking in if Red51 released an Update, or is about to. I guess I'm playing more Astroneer :)

Merry Christmas! The next day overwith how busy I am, but thanks!

Hope you guys are having a good one & won't return any gifts. Being grateful for what you received. Hope you enjoy your presents, food & etc! :D

(Wanted to get a simple video out celebrating Christmas by getting a Christmas tree in RW.)

It's a good thing I showed off how to use your wooden 'Z" as a table then. More of a stand to elevate it, yet if you want wheels you can pretend it has wheels heh. Now we'd need some sushi or Chinese dim sum to place on your 'Z' to further personalize it to you heh. I guess sushi for me, dim sum for you. That be awesome once we get down to cooking. :whistling:

I was wondering who made that silly comment, then I looked at the name it all makes sense. Common........Have you stuck around with Minecraft since pre-Alpha, with Euro Truck SIm 2, American Truck, or any game in development? Stuff happens that it forces you to be patient. But yeah, I guess you were indeed right. Not sure what that does, and not trying to be condescending. It just makes things awkward when you say you were 'right". Some help would be sweet, and why he has some for animations.

Dungeons could have released earlier, yet Red51 felt the need/desire to release the helpful PLugin API, something that's actually being used properly. I don't see it as minor as it's being used as it should. Now, the problem actually being the community struggling to make plugins for various things that was listed as examples, among others, yet it can be Minecraft Bukkit's competition.

Dungeons is now around the corner. We can safely say we haven't died, turned into a skeleton, or anything. We can say that this is normal development as with Minecraft and other games. It's a standard issue that's "something is being made out of nothing" type issue. Dungeons is now releasing for Christmas, and we should be happy. Shit happens. Same/similar frustrations I had to deal with Minecraft, more so when Mojang ignores your feedback & input.

Yeah, we shall indeed see what happens next for 2017. Player Models & customization, maybe railway, maybe cooking. We'll have to see. :whistling: After the player models & customization update Red51 needs to make a new promotional video (trailer).

I guess that's just a by-product of how we struggled to move from where we spawned. Everything was untouchable within, yet fine when you left that chunk. It was very funky. But yeah, nothing too serious. Used to seeing water oddities from Minecraft that it's natural to see it in Rising World.

Yeah, that sounds awesome. wouldn't mind dungeons spawning wherever. I'd even go hunting for them in newer chunks. I'd be amused if Vortac's fallout shalter gained a neighbor.

And yes, I poked fun with his slip-up of accidentally not allowing cotton & hemp from growing in survival mode. Laughing with him, not against him :)

    - Rising World - 100 Subscribters YouTube Monument:

Just a quick video sharing my views that more videos to come. Showing off my new 'WIP' monument as it ends up being polished, added onto, among other things, over time. Shall share blueprint when I feel it's at a basic sharable point. Thanks for following me, and hope you enjoy the content! More to come as I try to test things in Niska village, even waiting to found Arcticu Empire when game is considered 'complete'. Hope to see my 'Vara' as an foxy NPC assisting me with tasks.

Also, special thanks to both Zork & Vortac for being 99 & 100 subs. They spawned that monument that shall expand with time.

    Darwin echoes my thoughts perfectly.

Again, go over to SCS Software's blog and you'll see that people toxicly push the developers to release more states & maps for both Euro Truck SIm 2 & American truck Simulator. It's more idiotic when you know SCS can't, yet they would love to. It's their passion project. They would have released more states & content when able, yet they just humanly can't. Red51 can't. He wishes he could, yet can't. People keep calling SCS Software lazy, maybe purposely feigning ignorance (or just brainless) that making maps takes a long time of work and effort. Trying to make sure everything within the update works while also keeping enough content available for smaller updates to keep things spread out and balanced. Trucks alone is said to take a year (or more) to release in proper license fashion. Countries & states takes roughly quartly to a year to release (look at Arizona & re-scale for American Truck SImulator). All those assets having to be made, placed, polish & etc. Having to make sure the AI functions, among others. Compare that with what Rising World released with, not ignoring any update as another user managed to.

"Why aren't you releasing more states/countries/nations and bigger. You guys are extremely lazy! You guys should be focusing on making more maps, not these shitty side updates! GO TO HELL YOU LAZY DEVELOPERS! I BOUGHT THE GAME, AND YOU HAVE TO DO AS i SAY YOU JACKASSES! LISTEN TO ME AND MAKE MORE MAPS YOU LAZY IDIOTS!" - SCS Software community

Yeaaaaahh.......Now use that exact mentality in Rising World's situation. Not being a 'forum potato', as one brainless forum troll claimed us to be, yet things just can't release on a whim......

Darwin skimmed the mention of Minecraft with Mojang being slow & sloppy, yet even they take an eternity to release proper updates. They may not be using common sense, and they may be sloppy as hell, yet when they release something it takes them a good year, or more, to release. They really take the time to make sure everything is polished by allowing people to feedback on a weekly basis near the actual release of the updates via 'snapshot' releases.
