Lamps not working

The ambient light sometimes does not work properly. But that will be improved with the upcoming version. This is not a bug. The light in white buildings is terrible. I build at night with headlights on. I can only advise waiting for the version.

Normally the garden light and the bamboo light work properly.

did you press L after putting on the helmet light?

Lights are quite poor in the current Java version We will see a major improvement in this regard in the new version. We've posted some preview screenshots about the new lights & shadows some time ago: Status Update: Lights and Shadows

I believe that you will have to hit L again if you take the helm off and put it back on. The only time it stays on is if you are an admin and then it does not need the helm at all. Normal players have to use the helm. L is just the on off switch.

Does the L only work with the helm and Head lamp? Does it also work with like torches or lanterns?

I think it works with flashlights but torches and lamps it has no effect.

try using the GPS plugin and when you get where you want use /sethome and /home to use or use yahgiggle's area protection plugin and and seting a home point that way. there are a cuple others that will do similar.
